Molecular identification and population dynamics of two species of Pemphigus （Homoptera： Pemphidae） on cabbage

The poplar petiole gall aphid, Pemphiguspopulitransversus Riley, has been one of the major pests on cruciferous vegetable in the Rio Grande Valley （LRGV） of Texas since the late 1940s. It normally migrates from poplar trees to cruciferous vegetables in the fall, and migrates back to the trees in early spring of the coming year. Some root-feeding aphids were found on cruciferous vegetables in late spring and early summer in 1998 and the following years. Those aphids have been identified as Pemphigus obesinymphae Moran. This discovery completely changed the current knowledge about the root-feeding aphids on cruciferous vegetables in the LRGV. Due to their small size, morphological and feeding similarities between P. populitransversus and P. obesinymphae, their identification and distinction are difficult. In this study, random amplification of polymorphic DNA （RAPD） and amplified fragment length polymorphism （AFLP） were used to distinguish these two species over a period of time when the two species occurred together, or separately, in cabbage fields. The two species occurred on cabbage at different times of the year, and overlapped from October to june. From May to October, both species migrated to their primary hosts. The apterous aphids found on cabbage in winter contained mainly P. obesinymphae, whereas in early spring more apterous P. populitransversus were recovered. The root-feeding aphids would feed on cabbage plants as long as this host was available even during the hot, dry summer in the LRGV, although their populations were generally low. Both RAPD and AFLP techniques were efficient in discriminating the two species that showed obviously genetic variability. These molecular techniques confirmed the existence of the two aphid species in apterous samples collected from the soil in cabbage fields in the LRGV, and the results performed by RAPD were confirmed by AFLP. The relativistic mean-field models tested in previous works against nuclear matter experimental values,critical parameters and macroscopic stellar properties are revisited and used in the evaluation of the symmetry energyγ parameter obtained in three different ways. We have checked that, independent of the choice made to calculate theγ values, a trend of linear correlation is observed between γ and the symmetry energy（S0） and a more clear linear relationship is established between γ and the slope of the symmetry energy（L0）. These results directly contribute to the arising of other linear correlations between γ and the neutron star radii of R（1.0） and R（1.4）, in agreement with recent findings. Finally, we have found that short-range correlations induce two specific parametrizations, namely,IU-FSU and DD-MEδ, simultaneously compatible with the neutron star mass constraint of 1.93≤M（max）/M☉≤2.05 and with the overlap band for the L0 ×S0 region, to present γ in the range of γ=0.25±0.05.

The laser-induced relativistic shock waves are described. The shock waves can be created directly by a high irradiance laser or indirectly by a laser acceleration of a foil that collides with a second static foil. A special case of interest is the creation of laser-induced fusion where the created alpha particles create a detonation wave. A novel application is suggested with the shock wave or the detonation wave to ignite a pre-compressed target. In particular, the deuterium–tritium fusion is considered. It is suggested that the collision of two laser accelerated foils might serve as a novel relativistic accelerator for bulk material collisions.

Measured highly elevated gains of proton–boron(HB11) fusion(Picciotto et al., Phys. Rev. X 4, 031030(2014))confirmed the exceptional avalanche reaction process(Lalousis et al., Laser Part. Beams 32, 409(2014); Hora et al.,Laser Part. Beams 33, 607(2015)) for the combination of the non-thermal block ignition using ultrahigh intensity laser pulses of picoseconds duration. The ultrahigh acceleration above 10^(20) cm s^(-2)for plasma blocks was theoretically and numerically predicted since 1978(Hora, Physics of Laser Driven Plasmas(Wiley, 1981), pp. 178 and 179) and measured(Sauerbrey, Phys. Plasmas 3, 4712(1996)) in exact agreement(Hora et al., Phys. Plasmas 14, 072701(2007)) when the dominating force was overcoming thermal processes. This is based on Maxwell's stress tensor by the dielectric properties of plasma leading to the nonlinear(ponderomotive) force f_(NL)resulting in ultra-fast expanding plasma blocks by a dielectric explosion. Combining this with measured ultrahigh magnetic fields and the avalanche process opens an option for an environmentally absolute clean and economic boron fusion power reactor. This is supported also by other experiments with very high HB11 reactions under different conditions(Labaune et al., Nature Commun.4, 2506(2013)).

The identification of jets originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses performed at the Large Hadron Collider,as Standard Model measurements and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAS *** taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and simulation are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multiple tagger working points.

综述/Review Article 2型糖尿病患者的β细胞功能:能被保留或增强吗?Beta-cell function in type 2 diabetes(T2DM):can it be preserved or enhanced?Laure Sayyed Kassem1,2,Aman Rajpal1,2,Margarita barreiro1,3,and Faramarz Ismail-Beigi1,2,31Case Western Reserve University,2Cleveland VA Medical Center,and3University Hospitals of Cleveland【摘要】2型糖尿病(T2DM)是一种复杂的代谢紊乱,表现为高血糖、胰岛素抵抗和β细胞功能逐渐恶化。预防该疾病进展的一种方法是增强β细胞功能和胰岛素分泌。然而,此前大多数研究在患者使用降糖药物且没有足够的时间停药(洗脱期)的情况下检查了β细胞功能。在本文中,我们重点讨论了有洗脱期的研究。我们使用了β细胞功能和增强作为关键词进行了文献检索(2010年至2021年6月)。现有证据表明,β细胞功能可以增强。减重手术和极低热量饮食可改善许多个体的β细胞功能。此外,使用GLP-1受体激动剂进行长期治疗(3年或更长时间)也可以改善β细胞功能。需要进一步的研究来了解导致改善β细胞功能的机制,并确定可以增强T2DM患者β细胞功能的药物。

文章简介进行性核上性麻痹(Progressive Supranuclear Palsy,PSP)是一种以Tau蛋白异常聚集和缠结为特征的运动障碍疾病。迄今为止人们对该疾病的致病机制知之甚少。之前的研究发现单核苷酸突变(SNP)(rs1768208 C/T)是PSP发病的高风险因子。本研究通过对正常人和PSP患者的大脑样品进行检测,发现rs1768208 C/T中高的T等位基因频率与促凋亡蛋白appoptosin水平增高相关联,而appoptosin水平的增高与caspase-3的激活及caspase对tau蛋白的剪切相关。
