Nitrogen-doped titanium dioxide(N/TiO2)nanophotocatalysts were successfully synthesized in the presence of environmentally benign nitrogen dopant source,guanidinium chloride,by the sol-gel *** effect of calcination temperature(300–600℃)on their physicochemical properties was investigated by means XRD,XPS,FESEM,HRTEM,Raman spectroscopy,UV-vis DRS,PL and ***,their photocatalytic activities were evaluated against rhodamine b(Rhb)degradation under direct sun *** showed that the crystal phase of spheroidal N/TiO2 nanoparticles was changed from anatase(300℃)to rutile(600℃)via an intermediate anatase/rutile(A/R)mixed phase(400–500℃),and the Rhb photodegradation performance was increased with the decrease of the calcination ***,N/TiO2 prepared at 400℃demonstrated the best degradation performance(99%)after 5 h *** enhanced performance with high photostability was mainly attributed to its higher surface area and pore volume,stronger light absorption,and lower recombination *** nanomaterials have practical applications for environmental remediation.

background： Pacing, defined as percentage changes of speed between successive splits, has been extensively studied in running and cycling endurance sports; however, less information about the trends in change of speed during cross-country （XC） ski racing is available. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to examine the effect of performance （quartiles of race time （Q）, with Q1 the fastest and Q4 the slowest） level on pacing in the Vasaloppet ski race, the largest XC skiing race in the world. Methods： For this purpose, we analyzed female （n = 19,465） and male （n = 164,454） finishers in the Vasaloppet ski race from 2004 to 2017 using a one-way （2 sexes） analysis of variance with repeated measures to examine percentage changes of speed between 2 successive splits. Overall, the race consisted of 8 splits. Results： The race speeds of Q1, Q2, Q3, and Q4 were 13.6 ± 1.8, 10.6 ± 0.5, 9.2 ± 0.3, and 8.1 ±- 0.4 km/h, respectively, among females and 16.7 ± 1.7, 13.1 ± 0.7, 10.9 ± 0.6, and 8.9 ± 0.7 km/h, respectively, among males. The overall pacing strategy of finishers was variable. A small sex × split interaction on speed was observed （η^2= 0.016, p 〈 0.001）, with speed difference between sexes ranging from 14.9% （Split 7） to 27.0% （Split 1） and larger changes in speed between 2 successive splits being shown for females （p 〈 0.001, η^2=0.004）. A large performance × split interaction on speed, with Q1 presenting the smallest changes of speed between splits, was shown for females （η^2= 0.149, p 〈 0.001） and males （η^2 = 0.169,p 〈 0.001）. Conclusion： Male and fast XC skiers are more even pacers. Coaches and athletes should develop tailored sex- and performance-level pacing strategies; for instance, they should advise fast XC skiers to start fast and maintain their speed, rather than starting slowly and trying to make up time by going faster at times during the race.2018 Published by Elsevier b.V. on behalf of Shanghai University of Sport. Four extreme ultraviolet(EUV)solar radiation proxies(Magnesium II core-to-wing ratio(MgII),Lymanαflux(Fα),10.7-cm solar radio flux(F10.7),and sunspot number(Rz))were analyzed during the last four consecutive solar activity minima to investigate how they differ during minimum periods and how well they represent solar EUV *** variability within each minimum and between minima was compared by considering monthly means.A comparison was also made of their role in filtering the effect of solar activity from the critical frequency of the ionospheric F2 layer,foF2,which at mid to low latitudes depends mainly on EUV solar *** last two solar cycles showed unusually low EUV radiation levels according to the four *** the connection between the EUV“true”variation and that of solar proxies,according to the foF2 filtering analysis,MgII and Fαbehaved in a more stable and suitable way,whereas Rz and F10.7 could be overestimating EUV levels during the last two minima,implying they would both underestimate the inter-minima difference of EUV when compared with the first two minima.

biochar is a material derived from biomass pyrolysis that is used in urban *** environmental impacts of new biochar products have however not been ***,the life cycle assessments of 5 biochar products(tree planting,green roofs,landscaping soil,charcrete,and biofilm carrier)were performed for 7 biochar supply-chains in 2 energy *** biochar products were benchmarked against reference products and oxidative use of biochar for steel *** demand was then estimated,using dynamic material flow analysis,for a new city district in Uppsala,*** a decarbonised energy system and with high biochar stability,all biochar products showed better climate performance than the reference products,and most applications outperformed biomass use for decarbonising steel *** climate benefits of using biochar ranged from−1.4 to−0.11 tonne CO_(2)-eq tonne−1 biochar in a decarbonised energy *** other environmental impact categories,biochar products had either higher or lower impacts than the reference products,depending on biochar supply chain and material substituted,with trade-offs between sectors and impact ***,several use-phase effects of biochar were not included in the assessment due to knowledge *** Uppsala’s new district,estimated biochar demand was around 1700 m^(3)year^(−1)during the 25 years of *** 2100,23%of this biochar accumulated in landfill,raising questions about end-of-life management of biochar-containing ***,in a post-fossil economy,biochar can be a carbon dioxide removal technology with benefits,but biochar applications must be designed to maximise co-benefits.

The properties of mixtures of poly (ethylene oxide) (PEO) and mixed micelles formed from sodium cholate (NaC) and sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) in tris/HCl buffered solutions at pH 9.00 were investigated by measuring the mean surface tension. The variation in the superficial tension as a function of the time after formation of solutions containing PEO and NaC was characterized by monitoring the time required for the system to reach equilibrium between the micellar and aqueous phases. These results could serve as a reference for the minimum aging time required for solutions before any surface tension measurements can be performed.

While gait recognition is the mapping of a gait sequence to an identity known to the system, gait authentication refers to the problem of identifying whether a given gait sequence belongs to the claimed identity. A typical gait authentication system starts with a feature representation such as a gait template, then proceeds to extract its features, and a transformation is ultimately applied to obtain a discriminant feature set. Almost every authentication approach in literature favours the use of Euclidean distance as a threshold to mark the boundary between a legitimate subject and an impostor. This article proposes a method that uses the posterior probability of a bayes' classifier in place of the Euclidean distance. The proposed framework is applied to template-based gait feature representations and is evaluated using the standard CASIA-b gait database. Our study experimentally demonstrates that the bayesian posterior probability performs significantly better than the de facto Euclidean distance approach and the cosine distance which is established in research to be the current state of the art.

A laser ablation technique is applied for synthesis of silver nanoparticles in different concentrations of polyvinyl alcohol （PVA） aqueous solution. The ablation of high pure silver plate in the solution is carried out by a nanosecond Q-switched Nd：YAG pulsed laser. X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy are implemented to explore the particles sizes. The effects of PYA concentrations on the absorbance of the silver nanoparticles are studied as well, by using a UV-vis spectrophotometer. The preparation process is carried out for deionized water as a reference sample. The comparison of the obtained results with the reference sample shows that the formation efficiency of nanoparticles in PYA is much higher and the sizes of particles are also smaller.
