Single-nucleus RNA-sequencing technology has revolutionized understanding of nuanced changes in gene expression between cell types within ***,our understanding of regulatory RNAs,such as microRNAs(miRNAs),is limited through both single-cell and single-nucleus techniques due to the short length of miRNAs in the cytoplasm and the incomplete reference of longer primary miRNA(pri-miRNA)transcripts in the *** build a custom reference to align and count pri-miRNA sequences in singlenucleus *** young and aged subventricular zone(SVZ)nuclei,we show differential expression of pri-miRNAs targeting genes involved in neural stem cells(NSC)differentiation in the aged ***,using wild-type and 5XFAD mouse model cortex nuclei,to validate the use of primiReference,we find cell-type-specific expression of pri-miRNAs known to be involved in Alzheimer’s disease(AD).pri-miRNAs likely contribute to NSC dysregulation with age and AD *** is paramount in capturing a global profile of gene expression and regulation in single-nucleus data and can provide key insights into cell-type-specific expression of pri-miRNAs,paving the way for future studies of regulation and pathway *** looking at pri-miRNA abundance and transcriptional differences,regulation of gene expression by miRNAs in disease and aging can be further explored.

Fast transient events,such as the disintegration of liquid bodies or chemical reactions between radical species,involve various processes that may occur at different time ***,there are two alternatives for monitoring such events:burst-or high-speed *** imaging at ultrahigh speeds(~100 MHz to THz)allows for the capture of nature's fastest processes but only for a narrowly confined period of time and at a repetition rate of~10 *** long lasting,rapidly evolving transient events requires a significantly higher repetition rate,which is met by existing~kHz to 1 MHz high-speed imaging ***,the use of such systems eliminates the possibility to observe dynamics occurring on the sub-microsecond time *** this paper,we present a solution to this technological gap by combining multiplexed imaging with high-speed sensor technology,resulting in temporally resolved,high-spatial-resolution image series at two simultaneous time *** further demonstrate how the collection of such data opens up the tracking of rapidly evolving structures up to MHz burst rates over long durations,allowing,for the first time,to our knowledge,the extraction of acceleration fields acting upon the liquid bodies of an atomizing spray in two dimensions at k Hz frame rates.

As an abiotic stress,adverse germination temperatures cause serious disruptions in physiological and biochemical processes involved in seed *** a factorial experiment,we examined the effects of different seed priming treatments on enzymatic and biochemical performances of rice seed germination under different *** of the rice genotypes(Hashemi,Sadry-domsefid,IRON-70-7053-7 and NORIN-22)was primed with hydro-hardening,KCl,CaCl2 and ascorbic acid(AsA)and without a priming agent as a control at low(15℃),optimum(25℃)and high(35℃)germination *** results showed that the enzymatic and biochemical performances of all the rice genotypes were affected by the seed priming agents,especially under the low germination *** 15℃,seed priming with AsA was found to be the best agent for the activities of amylase,α-amylase,catalase(CAT),peroxidase(POX),ascorbate peroxidase(APOX)and superoxide dismutase(SOD)as well as the content of soluble sugars in the NORIN-22 genotype,and for protease activity and soluble protein content in the IRON-70-7053-7 *** at the low germination temperature and CAT,POX and protease at the optimum and high germination temperatures were the most important enzymes in occurrence of germination potential in terms of seedling length,vigor index,normal seedling rate and germination *** the priming agents,the highest changes in normal seedling rate were observed at the low and optimum germination temperatures by AsA priming in the Hashemi and NORIN-22 genotypes,and at the high germination temperature under KCl priming in the Hashemi genotype.

Objective:To assess the prevalence and associated factors of soil transmitted helminths(STHs)among Endemata primary school in North West Ethiopia,***:A cross-sectional study with 195 school children was conducted from May to July 2021 at Endemata primary *** study participants were selected by using systematic random sampling *** samples were processed via direct wet mount and formol-ether concentration *** was entered by Epi-Dara version 3.1 and data analysis was done using SPSS version *** were considered to be statistically significant if P<0.05 at 95%confidence ***:The overall prevalence of STHs was 10.8%(95%CI 7.1-16.0).The prevalence of Ascaris lumbricoides,hookworm and Trichuris trichiura were 5.6%(95%CI 3.1-9.9),3.1%(95%CI 1.3-6.7)and 2.1%(95%CI 0.6-5.3),*** 1-4 students were more likely to get infected with STHs as compared to grade 5-8 students(adjusted OR 4.7,95%CI 1.3-16.6).Students who did not have latrines at their home were at higher risk to develop STHs infection comparing with those who had latrine at their home(adjusted OR 5.0,95%CI 1.7-15.2).Similarly,the school children who did not wear shoes were more likely to be infected by STH parasite than those who did it(adjusted OR 6.3,95%CI 1.9-20.7).The odds of being infected by STH parasites in children who did not trim their fingernails were 4.9 as compared to those who did it(adjusted OR 4.9,95%CI 1.5-15.7).Conclusions:The prevalence of STHs among Endemata primary school children was *** grade level,latrine availability,shoes wear and nail status were significantly associated with STHs ***,we recommend policy makers and stakeholders to follow the integration of deworming with water,hygiene and sanitation as well as the consistent health education of school children to control and prevent STH infections.

This study discussed the water sector as a critical infrastructural element in Jordan where the sector is exposed to the extreme events. The exposure of the country to extreme events has initiated this study. Such events are Pollution accidents, flooding, draughts, overexploitation, failure in electricity supply, climate changes, earthquakes, landslides, failure of dams, failure of wastewater treatment plants, failure of desalination plants, sabotage, fire, water theft, migration and demographic changes (immigration and urban migration), relations to neighboring countries, epidemics, and others. These extreme events are discussed in this article and the results show that failures in the water infrastructure and water supply, in Jordan, with its water sector situation have rigorous percussions on the country’s health, food supply, economy, societal stability, the built environment, and on other water-related issues. The study concludes that developing national programs to protect the water infrastructure in the water-fragile country has become very crucial to reach a robust and resilient water sector which not only means providing the inhabitants with quantitatively sufficient and qualitatively healthy water but also aims to incorporate guaranteeing social, economic and political stability.

Threats to the Thermal Mineralized Waters Used for Therapeutic Purposes in Jordan

Although Jordan is a country with very limited water resources, the country is rich in its thermal mineralized water possessing curative properties, historically used for the therapy of a variety of ailments. Due to the country’s increasing water demand resulting from population growth, urbanization, and industrialization, extractions from the groundwater sources feeding the thermal mineralized springs has started to affect negatively the discharged quantities from the springs. In addition, urbanization, mining activities, over-exploited groundwater resources in general and severe drop in the level of the Dead Sea are leading to declining discharge of springs in general, and thermal mineralized in special, deteriorating water quality and contamination by human activities. In this article, the current quantitative and qualitative situation of the thermal mineralized springs is given and the threats to their discharges and quantities are discussed. In addition, some water policy changes and measures are suggested to conserve these therapeutic waters for the use of generations to come and to alleviate their depletion and quality deterioration on the social and economic state of Jordan.
