Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) is the most common cause of chronic liver disease. NAFLD includes a wide spectrum of liver conditions ranging from simple steatosis to nonalcoholic steatohepatitis and advanced hepatic fibrosis. NAFLD has been recognized as a hepatic manifestation of metabolic syndrome linked with insulin resistance. NAFLD should be considered not only a liver specific disease but also an early mediator of systemic diseases. Therefore, NAFLD is usually associated with cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and dyslipidemia. NAFLD is highly prevalent in the general population and is associated with increased cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. The underlying mechanisms and pathogenesis of NAFLD with regard to other medical disorders are not yet fully understood. This review focuses on pathogenesis of NAFLD and its relation with other systemic diseases.

Titanium and its alloys are commonly used as dental and bone implant *** coating of titanium surfaces could improve their osteoinductive *** this work,we have developed a novel osteogenic composite nanocoating for titanium surfaces,which provides a natural environment for facilitating adhesion,proliferation,and osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs).Electrospinning was used to produce composite nanofiber coatings based on polycaprolactone(PCL),nano-hydroxyapatite(nHAp)and strontium ranelate(SrRan).Thus,four types of coatings,i.e.,PCL,PCL/nHAp,PCL/SrRan,and PCL/nHAp/SrRan,were applied on titanium *** assess chemical,morphological and biological properties of the developed coatings,EDS,FTIR,XRD,XRF,SEM,AFM,in-vitro cytotoxicity and in-vitro hemocompatibility analyses were *** findings have revealed that the composite nanocoatings were both cytocompatible and hemocompatible;thus PCL/HAp/SrRan composite nanofiber coating led to the highest cell *** culture of MSCs on the nanocoatings led to the osteogenic differentiation of stem cells,confirmed by alkaline phosphatase activity and mineralization *** findings support the notion that the proposed composite nanocoatings have the potential to promote new bone formation and enhance bone-implant integration.

This study presents the determination of the stress intensity factors （SIFs） at the edges of the cracks in an elastic strip weakened by N-collinear cracks. The problem of an orthotropic elastic strip is reduced to a system of Cauchy type singular integral equations. The system of singular integral equations is approached by a Quadrature technique. Under two different loading conditions, the results are obtained for the different cases of crack numbers. The resistance of the strip is examined by considering the orthotropic properties of the strip material. Finally, the crack interactions are clarified during the analysis.

Successful and cost-effective construction relies upon appropriate communication of the participants of the construction project. Hence, it is important to define the rights and responsibilities of the parties, and relationships among them. In this context, well-designed and complete agreement is essential and necessary for the successfully completion of a construction project within the desired time, quality and budget. In this paper, it is aimed to analyze and compare the owner-contractor agreements in the Turkish and the US construction industry. First, the importance of construction contracts and contractual elements of an agreement is determined, and then, the standard owner-contractor agreement which is used in the Turkish construction industry is analyzed and compared with the US standard owner-contractor agreement. Finally, the differences between these agreements are put forward, the lack and deficiencies of Turkish standard agreement form are determined, and appropriate suggestions are improved.

Background: This paper describes the establishment of a rat intramedullary spinal cord tumor (IMSCT) model and histopathological characterization of the tumor model. Methods: Fourteen male Wistar rats were randomized into two groups. The rats in group 1 (control group, n = 7) received a 5 μl intramedullary injection of serum physiologic (SF). Those in group 2 (experimental group, n= 7) received a 5 μl intramedullary implantation of media containing 5 × 105 C6 glioma cells. The animals were sacrificed for histopathological examination at 21 days. Results: The control group showed normal functional and histopathological findings. The group 2 rats implanted with C6 glioblastoma cells developed hind-limb paraplegia. Pathological sections confirmed intramedullary C6 glioblastoma invading the spinal cord. Conclusions: A rat C6 IMSCT model was successfully established. This model may be useful in increasing understanding of intramedullary spinal cord gliomas in humans.

Malignant Gastrointestinal Neuroectodermal Tumor (GNET) is a recently described rare malignant neoplasm, resembling “clear cell sarcoma of tendons and aponeuroses” morphologically, immunohistochemically and molecular pathologically. We will describe a case of soft tissue sarcoma located at right cervical region of a 9-year-old male patient, mimicking malignant GNET, which can be considered as extragastrointestinal counterpart of this tumor. These tumors have poor prognosis. This is unique, possibly the first case of a soft tissue sarcoma resembling GNET.

Background and Purpose: To evaluate the role of preadmission conditions, dehydration specifically, in the development of subdural hematoma in the elderly. Methods: Retrospective chart review. Results: The most prevalent pre-admission medical condition was hypertension, followed by atrial fibrillation, CAD, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, and cancer. Out of 95 patients, 69 (73%) had features of dehydration, 27% were on diuretics and 28% were on antiplatelet agents and anticoagulation. Conclusions: Elderly population is prone to dehydration. Overzealous use of diuretics especially in combination with anticoagulation or antiplatelet therapy can contribute to the development of subdural hematomas, both spontaneous and traumatic.

点阵CO2激光治疗痤疮瘢痕虽然已经成为临床常用手段,但是从研究的角度,激光治疗痤疮瘢痕的有效性、安全性与治疗后时间长度的相关性仍然缺乏足够的资料。此研究为点阵CO2激光治疗痤疮瘢后3个月到3年的疗效评测。临床资料研究收入31位(男16名、女15名)于2012年5月2012年9月期间接受激光治疗的患者,随访工作于2016年完成。受试者年龄18岁及以上,患有面部萎缩性瘢痕,痤疮等级在I、II或III度,知情同意;排除标准:孕期或哺乳期,有肥厚性瘢痕或瘢痕疙瘩,痤疮等级在IV度,治疗区域有活跃期的皮炎、感染、恶性肿瘤,6个月内接受过其他类型的皮肤治疗或药物治疗。
