In this study,particle resuspension due to surface vibration was investigated.A spherical particle was assumed to rest on top of a thin plate,and an external vibrating force was applied normal on the plate at t=0 and at distance R from the *** external driving force created a displacement field in both time and space domains,where deformations in the body of the plate were considered small elastic oscillations that are perpendicular to the propagation of the *** oscillations were introduced via the theory of elasticity and the creation of waves on thin plates,i.e.,bending *** motion in the vertical direction was initiated through plate displacement,provided that inertia due to particle mass is *** particular,the particle was assumed to oscillate with a force(of oscillation)estimated via Newton’s second law of motion,comprising of two components:the acceleration due to the plate displacement and the particle ***,a simple force balance method was used to determine the conditions for ***,resuspension occurs when the oscillation force exceeds the couple of the adhesive and gravitational *** results suggest that the plate displacement depends on the characteristics of the applied force,material properties,and plate *** addition,it was found that the oscillation force is substantially lower than the applied force and that it depends on plate displacement and particle ***,the particle size significantly influencedthe outcome of ***,resuspension is favorable for large particles,strong applied forces,and high forcing frequencies.

A systematic review of the recent literature regarding a series of ocular diseases involved in European telemedicine projects was performed based on the pub Med, Google Scholar and Springer databases in June 2017. Literature review returned 44 eligible studies; among them, emergency ophthalmology, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, age-related macular disease, cataract and retinopathy of prematurity. The majority of studies indicate teleophthalmology as a valid, reliable and cost-efficient method for care-provision in ophthalmology patients which delivers comparable outcomes to the traditional examination methods.

AIM:To assess the hepatitis B virus(HBV)-DNA and the prevalence of occult HBV infection in end-stage renal failure(ESRF)patients from Central Greece. METHODS:Sera from 366 ESRF patients attending five out of six dialysis units from Central Greece were investigated for HBV-DNA by real-time polymerase chain *** serum samples with repeatedly detectable HBV-DNA were considered *** antibodies to hepatitis C virus(anti-HCV)were tested by a third generation enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA),while IgG antibodies to hepatitis E virus (anti-HEV)were tested by two commercially available ***:HBV-DNA was detected in 15/366 patient (4.1%)and HBsAg in 20/366(5.5%).The prevalenc of occult HBV infection was 0.9%(3/346 HBsAg negative patients).Occult HBV was not associate with a specific marker of HBV infection or anti-HCV o anti-HEV *** was no significant differenc in HBV-DNA titres,demographic and biochemica features,between patients with occult HBV infectio and those with HBsAg-positive chronic HBV infection. CONCLUSION:In central Greece,4%of ESRF patient had detectable HBV-DNA,though in this setting,th prevalence of occult HBV seems to be very low(0.9%).

The aim of this manuscript is to review the action and adverse effects of combined oral contraceptives（COCs）on ocular *** percentage of unwanted pregnancies and the subsequent abortions make contraception crucial *** 100 million women around the world use common contraceptive methods,including intrauterine devices,combined estrogen and progestin oral contraceptives,as well as progestin only preparations（oral contraceptives,implants or injections）.COCs are widely used for contraception,but they are also indicated in menorrhagia,endometriosis,acne and hirsutism,fibroid uterus and premenstrual ***,they have been associated with high rates of cardiovascular events,venous thromboembolic disease,ischemic strokes and breast *** incidence of COCs-related ocular complications is estimated to be 1 in 230 000,including dry eye symptoms,corneal edema,lens opacities and retinal neuro-ophthalmologic or vascular *** may infer that the serious ocular complications of COCs can be prevented by eliminating the estrogen dosage and choosing third-generation *** any case,doctors should take into consideration the systemic and ocular history of the patients before selecting any method of contraception.

pM_(1)0 samples were collected from an urban/industrial site nearby Athens,where uncontrolled burning activities ***,monocarboxylic,dicarboxylic,hydroxycarboxylic and aromatic acids,tracers from BVOC oxidation,biomass burning tracers and bisphenol A were ***,monocarboxylic acids,biomass burning tracers and bisphenol A were increased during autumn/winter,while BSOA tracers,dicarboxylic-and hydroxycarboxylic acids during *** aromatic acids,different sources and formation mechanisms were indicated as benzoic,phthalic and trimellitic acids were peaked during summer whereas p-toluic,isophthalic and terephthalic were more abundant during autumn/*** Benzo[a]pyrene-equivalent carcinogenic power,carcinogenic and mutagenic activities were calculated showing significant(ppling *** oxidation was the most significant contributor to BSOA as the isoprene-SOA compounds were two times more abundant than the pinene-SOA(13.4±12.3 and 6.1±2.9 ng/m^3,respectively).Ozone has significant impact on the formation of many studied compounds showing significant correlations with:isoprene-SOA(r=0.77),hydrocarboxylic acids(r=0.69),pinene-SOA(r=0.63),dicarboxylic acids(r=0.58),and the sum of phthalic,benzoic and trimellitic acids(r=0.44).pCA demonstrated five factors that could explain sources including plastic enriched waste burning(30.8%),oxidation of unsaturated fatty acids(23.0%),vehicle missions and cooking(9.2%),biomass burning(7.7%)and oxidation of VOCs(5.8%).The results highlight the significant contribution of plastic waste uncontrolled burning to the overall air quality degradation.

primary biliary cirrhosis （pBC） is a progressive cho- lestatic liver disease characterized by the immune- mediated destruction of biliary epithelial cells in small intrahepatic bile ducts. The disease is characterized by circulating antimitochondrial antibodies （AMAs） as well as disease-specific antinuclear antibodies, cholestatic liver function tests, and characteristic histological fea- tures, including granulomas. A variety of organisms are involved in granuloma formation, of which mycobacte- ria are the most commonly associated. This has led to the hypothesis that mnycobacteria may be involved in the pathogenesis of pBC, along with other infectious agents. Additionally, AMAs are found in a subgroup of patients with rnycobacterial infections, such as lep- rosy and pulmonary tuberculosis. Antibodies against species-specific mycobacterial proteins have been re- ported in patients with pBC, but it is not clear whether these antibodies are specific for the disease. In addi- tion, data in support of the involvement of the role of molecular mimicry between rnycobacterial and human mitochondrial antigens as triggers of cross-reactive im- mune responses leading to the loss of immunological tolerance, and the induction of pathological features have been published. Thus, antibodies against myco- bacterial heat shock protein appear to cross-recognize AMA-specific autoantigens, but it is not clear whether these autoantibodies are mycobacterium-species-spe- cific, and whether they are pathogenic or incidental. The view that mycobacteria are infectious triggers of pBC is intriguing, but the data provided so far are not conclusive.

The potential of selected pleurotus ostreatus and p. eryngii wild-type and commercial strains to colonize andproduce carposomes after solid-state fermentation of five substrates constituted of agro-residues namely wheatstraw (WS), beech wood shavings (BWS), coffee residue (CR), barley and oats straw (BOS), rice bark (RB),supplemented with wheat bran was investigated. The effect of substrate composition on bioprocess feasibilitywas assessed for the different strains by quantitative (i.e., mushroom yield and Biological Efficiency-BE %) andcarposome qualitative parameters (i.e., weight, size, colour, firmness). p. ostreatus strains produced carposomesearlier than p. eryngii ones. Early fruiting formation was promoted in WS for p. ostreatus strains, whereas forp. eryngii the lowest values of earliness were observed on BOS substrate. As for crop productivity, p. ostreatusstrain AMRL 150 provided the highest BE (>70%) in all substrates except for RB, while p. ostreatus strain AMRL144 achieved the highest yield and BE in BOS and BWS (75.30 and 64.26%, respectively). p. eryngii stainsproduced less number but heavier carposomes. The highest values of BE% for these strains were recorded on WSand BOS substrates. The BE was further correlated to growth parameters of fungal vegetative phase. As formushroom colour, p. ostreatus were lighter than p. eryngii and BOS substrate promoted lightness in both *** p. ostreatus mushrooms were produced at CR. No differences in the whiteness and firmness were detectedamong p. eryngii mushrooms and at any substrate used. The data included in this paper showed that pleurotusmushrooms can be cultivated on low- or zero-value agro-industrial residues of great financial and environmentalimportance towards the production of value-added food products.
