Trends and Spatial Heterogeneity of Climate Extremes in the Southwestern Region of Bangladesh

This study attempts to investigate the climatic variability in the southwestern area of Bangladesh focusing on temperature and precipitation extremes. Long-term daily records of temperature and precipitation from six weather stations spread over the study area were analyzed. A total of 20 yearly indices were calculated and testified for the trends with the Mann–Kendal test and Sen’s estimator of slope at a 95% confidence interval. Moreover, one-way ANOVA and Tukey–Kramer post-hoc tests were applied to verify the spatial heterogeneity of the climatic indices among the meteorological stations. Findings revealed that Khulna is the worst affected area with significant changes in 12 climatic indices. Jessore and Faridpur followed Khulna with significant changes in10 and 9 indices, respectively. Among the indices, significant changes in TN10p(frequencies of daily minimum temperature event that falls below the 10th percentile value), TX10p(frequencies of daily maximum temperature event that falls beyond the 10th percentile value), CSDI(cold spell duration indicator), and CDD(consecutive dry day) are the most common phenomenon in the studied region. Five out of six stations have been experiencing significant increasing trends for TN10p. That indicates an overall increase of extreme cold day frequencies in the area. Khulna station showed shreds of evidence of extreme cold temperature instances with a statistically significant fall in the minimum value of the yearly minimum temperatures(TNn). Besides,Khulna also experienced a statistically significant fall in the minimum value of the yearly maximum temperatures. Consistently, the area showed a significant trend of wider cold ***, the extremely warm day frequencies have also been increasing significantly for the Khulna, Jessore, and Faridpur areas. Tuberculosis(TB)remains a leading cause of death among infectious diseases,particularly in poor *** infections,multidrug-resistant and ex-tensively drug-resistant TB strains,as well as the coexistence of chronic illnesses such as diabetes mellitus(DM)greatly aggravate TB morbidity and ***[particularly type 2 DM(T2DM)]and TB have converged making their control even more *** contemporary global epidemics,TB-DM behaves like a syndemic,a synergistic confluence of two highly prevalent diseases.T2DM is a risk factor for developing more severe forms of multi-drug resistant-TB and TB recurrence after preventive *** a bidirectional relationship exists between TB and DM,it is necessary to concurrently treat both,and promote recommendations for the joint management of both *** are also some drug-drug interactions resulting in adverse treatment outcomes in TB-DM patients including treatment failure,and *** addition,autophagy may play a role in these ***,the TB-DM comorbidities present several health challenges,requiring a focus on multidisciplinary collaboration and integrated strategies,to effectively deal with this double *** effectively manage the comorbidity,further screening in affected countries,more suitable drugs,and better treatment strategies are required.

The study was carried out in Matiranga Upazila,Bandarban district,which is considered one of Bangladesh’s major hill tract *** study aimed to identify present farming conditions,prospects,and problems and suitable solutions to the problems of fish *** participatory rapid appraisal tools such as focus group discussion,field visits,and farmers’interviews were used to collect relevant fish farming information in the study *** polyculture method was the most practised aquaculture *** the selected farms,eleven fish species were identified as culture *** transportation cost for seeds purchased from remote areas was high(11%of total seed cost).The average transportation-related mortality of fish fry and fingerlings was 7.2%and 2.8%.Feed cost was found as the major cost(58.4%)in *** and revenue for fish production per decimal varied from BDT 311 to 3528 and BDT 23 to *** of vacant lake,youth and women engagement,integrated aquaculture,the desire of people to engage in aquaculture,and available human resources were found as significant *** major problems identified were lack of hatchery,high feed cost,lack of stakeholder linkage,lack of capital for fish farming,and lack of proper knowledge,guidelines,and consultancy for fish culture.A community-based aquaculture model was proposed to overcome the present challenges and problems in the study *** model may help to expand aquaculture and thus improve the livelihood and socio-economic status of the people of the hilly areas of Bangladesh.

Evaluation of crustal deformation and associated strong motions induced by the 2022 Paktika earthquake,Afghanistan

The 2022 Paktika earthquake(moment magnitude:6.2) occurred on June 22,2022,near the border between the Khost and Paktika Provinces of Afghanistan,causing heavy damage and casualties in Paktika *** study evaluated the crustal deformation and associated strong motions induced by the Paktika *** deformations were determined using the Differential Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar(DInSAR) technique and three-dimensional finite element method(3DFEM) and the results were *** permanent ground displacements obtained from the DInSAR and 3D-FEM analyses were similar in terms of amplitude and areal *** motions were estimated using the 3D-FEM with and without considering regional *** estimations of maximum ground acceleration,velocity,and permanent ground deformations were compared among each other as well as with those inferred from failures of some simple structures in the Spera and Gayan *** inferred maximum ground acceleration and velocity from the failed adobe structures were more than 300 Gal and 50 cm/s,respectively,nearly consistent with the estimates obtained using empirical *** empirical method yielded a maximum ground acceleration of 347 Gal,whereas the maximum ground velocity was approximately50 cm/*** light of these findings,some surface expressions of crustal deformations and strong ground motions,such as failures of soil and rock slopes and rockfalls,have been *** rock slope failures in the epicentral area were consistent with those observed during various earthquakes in Afghanistan and worldwide.

Autophagy is a prosurvival mechanism for the clearance of accumulated abnormal proteins,damaged organelles,and excessive lipids within mammalian cells.A growing body of data indicates that autophagy is reduced in aging *** reduction leads to various diseases,such as myocardial hypertrophy,infarction,and *** studies in animal models of an aging heart showed that fasting-induced autophagy improved cardiac function and *** improvement is related to autophagic clearance of damaged cellular components via either bulk or selective autophagy(such as mitophagy).In this editorial,we summarize the mechanisms of autophagy in normal and aging *** addition,the protective effect of fasting-induced autophagy in cardiac aging has been highlighted.

Structural and Functional Annotation of Hypothetical Protein of Fusobacterium nucleatum Strain MJR7757B: An in Silico Approach

Fusobacterium nucleatum is an anaerobic, commensal, gram-negative oral bacterium that is carcinogenic and causes a wide range of human diseases. The present study focused on the analysis of the hypothetical protein, HMPREF3221_01179, derived from F. nucleatum strain MJR7757B, employing various computational methods to anticipate both its structure and functional characteristics. NCBI conserved domain analysis, NCBI BLASTp and MEGA Phylogenetic tree study characterize the target protein as an outer membrane efflux protein (ToIC family) which facilitate the bacterial transmembrane transport. With a molecular weight of 52120.02 Da, an isoelectric point (pI) of 8.33, and an instability index of 29.47, the protein is anticipated to exhibit good solubility in the extracellular space and crucial stability for pharmaceutical applications. The protein’s structure meets quality standards during the construction and refinement of its 3D model. The efflux inhibitor Arginine beta-naphthylamide exhibits a significant binding affinity (-7.1 kcal/mol) to the binding site of the target protein. The in-silico analysis improves the understanding of the protein and facilitates future investigations into therapeutic medication.

Introduction:Chronic diseases are becoming more prevalent *** effects of chronic illnesses are disastrous not only for the diagnosed person but also for their entire *** study explores chronic diseases’social and economic impact on low-income *** study aims to determine the economic and social implications of various chronic diseases and the loss of income due to these conditions among low-income individuals in Southern Punjab,***:A sample of 424 patients was selected from different areas of Southern *** were collected using a questionnaire that included questions about economic status,self-reported health status,social status,management strategies,and health insurance,among other ***:The mean monthly income of the respondents was found to be 57,097.6 Pakistani rupee(PKR),and the mean monthly expenses for treatment were 8,256.1 *** loss of income was calculated at 15%.Additionally,62%of patients spent more than 10%of their monthly income on managing their *** 85%of the respondents reported that chronic diseases affected their social ***,80%of patients lacked health ***:Chronic diseases impose significant economic and social burdens on patients and their families in Southern *** reduce the burden of chronic diseases,the government should enhance healthcare services in this region and provide health insurance to low-income families.

Airborne bioaerosols and their impact on human health

Bioaerosols consist of aerosols originated biologically such as metabolites, toxins, or fragments of microorganisms that are present ubiquitously in the environment. International interests in bioaerosols have increased rapidly to broaden the pool of knowledge on their identification,quantification, distribution, and health impacts（e.g., infectious and respiratory diseases,allergies, and cancer）. However, risk assessment of bioaerosols based on conventional culture methods has been hampered further by several factors such as：（1） the complexity of microorganisms or derivatives to be investigated;（2） the purpose, techniques, and locations of sampling; and（3） the lack of valid quantitative criteria（e.g., exposure standards and dose/effect relationships）. Although exposure to some microbes is considered to be beneficial for health,more research is needed to properly assess their potential health hazards including inter-individual susceptibility, interactions with non-biological agents, and many proven/unproven health effects（e.g., atopy and atopic diseases）.

Surface Weather Parameters Forecasting Using Analog Ensemble Method over the Main Airports of Morocco

Surface weather parameters detain high socioeconomic impact and strategic insights for all users,in all domains(aviation,marine traffic,agriculture,etc.).However,those parameters were mainly predicted by using deterministic numerical weather prediction(NWP)models that include a wealth of *** purpose of this study is to contribute in improving low-cost computationally ensemble forecasting of those parameters using analog ensemble method(AnEn)and comparing it to the operational mesoscale deterministic model(AROME)all over the main airports of Morocco using 5-yr period(2016-2020)of hourly *** analog for a given station and forecast lead time is a past prediction,from the same model that has similar values for selected predictors of the current model *** analogs verifying observations form AnEn ensemble *** picture seasonal dependency,two configurations were set;a basic configuration where analogs may come from any past date and a restricted configuration where analogs should belong to a day window around the target ***,a new predictors weighting strategy is developed by using machine learning techniques(linear regression,random forest,and XGBoost).This approach is expected to accomplish both the selection of relevant predictors as well as finding their optimal weights,and hence preserve physical meaning and correlations of the used weather *** analysis shows that the developed AnEn system exhibits a good statistical consistency and it significantly improves the deterministic forecast performance temporally and spatially by up to 50%for Bias(mean error)and 30%for RMSE(root-mean-square error)at most of the *** improvement varies as a function of lead times and seasons compared to the AROME model and to the basic AnEn *** results show also that AnEn performance is geographically dependent where a slight worsening is found for some airports.
