Thermal performance of domed roof in air-conditioned spaces

Due to their thermal performance,domed roofs are one of the passive solutions that affect energy consumption in buildings.The thermal performance of domed roofs has been investigated in many naturally ventilated spaces.However,few studies have discussed their performance in conditioned spaces.Therefore,this study introduces a computational comparison between domed and flat roofs to investigate their impact on thermal comfort inside a conditioned mosque.At an earlier stage,field measurements were carried out inside a Bahraini mosque to acquire its indoor air conditions during the summer period of 2021,in addition to validating the computational model.The findings of this study confirm that,under mechanical cooling conditions,the flat roof offers a lower indoor temperature than the domed roof by 0.4℃and 0.1℃for open and closed doors,respectively.Similarly,the air velocity is lower by approximately 0.01 m/s for both door modes.The overall PmV values of the flat roof are also lower by 0.07 and 0.01,while the PPD values are lower by 0.20,and 0.34 for open and closed doors,respectively.Based on these small differences,it can be concluded that the thermal performance of both roofing systems behaves equally in conditioned spaces.However,the air patterns are substantially different,the overall thermal performance is similar.This similarity drives building designers to rethink the thermal performance of the domed roofs in air-conditioned spaces with such a hot climate,regardless of their aesthetic and acoustical behaviour.

Kidney Renal Clear Cell Carcinoma(KIRC)is a malignant tumor that carries a substantial risk of morbidity and mortality.The mmP family assumes a crucial role in tumor invasion and metastasis.This study aimed to uncover the mechanistic relevance of the mmP gene family as a therapeutic target and diagnostic biomarker in Kidney Renal Clear Cell Carcinoma(KIRC)through a comprehensive approach encompassing both computational and molecular analyses.STRING,Cytoscape,UALCAN,GEPIA,OncoDB,HPA,cBioPortal,GSEA,TImER,ENCORI,DrugBank,targeted bisulfite sequencing(bisulfite-seq),conventional PCR,Sanger sequencing,and RT-qPCR based analyses were used in the present study to analyze mmP gene family members to accurately determine a few hub genes that can be utilized as both therapeutic targets and diagnostic biomarkers for KIRC.By performing STRING and Cytohubba analyses of the 24 mmP gene family members,mmP2(matrix metallopeptidase 2),mmP9(matrix metallopeptidase 9),mmP12(matrix metallopeptidase 12),and mmP16(matrix metallopeptidase 16)genes were denoted as hub genes having highest degree scores.After analyzing mmP2,mmP9,mmP12,and mmP16 via various TCGA databases and RT-qPCR technique across clinical samples and KIRC cell lines,interestingly,all these hub genes were found significantly overexpressed at mRNA and protein levels in KIRC samples relative to controls.The notable effect of the up-regulated mmP2,mmP9,mmP12,and mmP16 was also documented on the overall survival(OS)of the KIRC patients.moreover,targeted bisulfite-sequencing(bisulfite-seq)analysis revealed that promoter hypomethylation pattern was associated with up-regulation of hub genes(mmP2,mmP9,mmP12,and mmP16).In addition to this,hub genes were involved in various diverse oncogenic pathways.The mmP gene family members(mmP2,mmP9,mmP12,and mmP16)may serve as therapeutic targets and prognostic biomarkers in KIRC.

Background As the most widely cultivated fiber crop,cotton production depends on hybridization to unlock the yield potential of current varieties.A deep understanding of genetic dissection is crucial for the cultivation of enhanced hybrid plants with desired traits,such as high yield and fine fiber quality.In this study,the general combining ability(GCA)and specific combining ability(SCA)of yield and fiber quality of nine cotton parents(six lines and three testers)and eighteen F1 crosses produced using a line×tester mating design were analyzed.Results The results revealed significant effects of genotypes,parents,crosses,and interactions between parents and crosses for most of the studied traits.moreover,the effects of both additive and non-additive gene actions played a notably significant role in the inheritance of most of the yield and fiber quality attributes.The F1 hybrids of(Giza 90×Aust)×Giza 86,Uzbekistan 1×Giza 97,and Giza 96×Giza 97 demonstrated superior performance due to their favorable integration of high yield attributes and premium fiber quality characteristics.Path analysis revealed that lint yield has the highest positive direct effect on seed cotton yield,while lint percentage showed the highest negative direct effect on seed cotton yield.Principal component analysis identified specific parents and hybrids associated with higher cotton yield,fiber quality,and other agronomic traits.Conclusion This study provides insights into identifying potential single-and three-way cross hybrids with superior cotton yield and fiber quality characteristics,laying a foundation for future research on improving fiber quality in cotton.

The recent developments in biological and information technologies have resulted in the generation of massive quantities of data it speeds up the process of knowledge discovery from biological systems.Due to the advancements of medical imaging in healthcare decision making,significant attention has been paid by the computer vision and deep learning(DL)models.At the same time,the detection and classification of colorectal cancer(CC)become essential to reduce the severity of the disease at an earlier stage.The existing methods are commonly based on the combination of textual features to examine the classifier results or machine learning(mL)to recognize the existence of diseases.In this aspect,this study focuses on the design of intelligent DL based CC detection and classification(IDL-CCDC)model for bioinformatics applications.The proposed IDL-CCDC technique aims to detect and classify different classes of CC.In addition,the IDLCCDC technique involves fuzzy filtering technique for noise removal process.moreover,water wave optimization(WWO)based EfficientNet model is employed for feature extraction process.Furthermore,chaotic glowworm swarm optimization(CGSO)based variational auto encoder(VAE)is applied for the classification of CC into benign or malignant.The design of WWO and CGSO algorithms helps to increase the overall classification accuracy.The performance validation of the IDL-CCDC technique takes place using benchmark Warwick-QU dataset and the results portrayed the supremacy of the IDL-CCDC technique over the recent approaches with the maximum accuracy of 0.969.

In this paper,a new 4-parameter exponentiated generalized inverse flexible Weibull distribution is proposed.Some of its statistical properties are studied.The aim of this paper is to estimate the model parameters via several approaches,namely,maximum likelihood,maximum product spacing and Bayesian.According to Bayesian approach,several techniques are used to get the Bayesian estimators,namely,standard error function,Linex loss function and entropy loss function.The estimation herein is based on complete and censored samples.markov Chain monte Carlo simulation is used to discuss the behavior of the estimators for each approach.Finally,two real data sets are analyzed to obtain the flexibility of the proposed model.

Aim: To determine the frequency of genetic deletions within the azoospermia factors in Egyptian infertile males. methods: The Yq microdeletions in 33 infertile males with undetectable chromosomal anomalies were examined by mutiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Deletions were confirmed using single PCR amplifications. Results: Four out of the total 33 (12 %) men had Yq11 microdeletions, thus supporting the average reported figures in other populations. Three of those 4 cases had single short tandem sequence deletions with discrete histological findings of their testes. Single sY272 deletion within AZFc was associated with Sertoli cell only syndrome, whereas a patient with isolated sY84 deletion within AZFa had immature testicular structure. The remaining case had a large deletion in AZFa-c and short stature. Conclusion: The present study supports the hypothesis that the Yqn encompasses genetic determinants of stature besides genes controlling spermatogenesis.

The effects of plasticizers,antioxidants and burning rate modifiers on the aging performance of the composite solid propellant based on hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene(HTPB)/hexamethylene diisocyanate(HmDI)were explored by apply-ing an accelerated aging program for 90 day at 70 ℃. The HTPB propellant matrix with the diisooctyl sebacate(DOS)as plasti-cizers and diisooctyl azelate(DOZ), antioxidants as N,N ′-Diphenyl-p-phenylenediamine(AO) and 2,2′-methylenebis(4-methyl-6-tert-butylphenol)(cyanox 2246)and burning rate modifiers as barium ferrite(BF),copper chromites(CC)and fer-ric oxide(FO)were varied. Results show that sample(S1)which based on DOS decreases the stress value and increases the strain value which considered to be an excellent start for aging program. Sample(S3)containing AO presents the higher resis-tance to oxidation showing the better performance that reflects on increasing the shelf life of the composite solid propellant mo-tor. Sample(S5)which based on BF enhances the ballistic performance among over the other tested two samples. The accelerat-ed aging program allowed us to estimate the motor in-service lifetime.

Simulation of Water-Soil-Structure Interactions Using Incompressible Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics

In the present work,an incompressible smoothed particle hydrodynamic(SPH)method is introduced to simulate water-soil-structure interactions.In the current calculation,the water is modelled as a Newtonian fluid.The soil is modelled in two different cases.In the first case,the granular material is considered as a fluid where a Bingham type constitutive model is proposed based on mohr-Coulomb yield-stress criterion,and the viscosity is derived from the cohesion and friction angle.In addition,the fictitious suspension layers between water and soil depending on the concentration of soil are introduced.In the second case,Hooke’s law introduces elastic soil.In ISPH,the pressure is evaluated by solving the pressure Poisson equation using a semi-implicit algorithm based on the projection method and an eddy viscosity for water is modelled by a large eddy simulation with the Smagorinsky model.In the proposed ISPH method,the pressure is stabilized to simulate the multiphase flow between soil and water.Numerical experiments for water-soil suspension flow of Louvain erosional dam break with flat soil foundation,is simulated and validated using 3D-ISPH method.Coupling between water-soil interactions with different solid structures are simulated.The results revealed that,the suspension layers with the Bingham model of soil gives more accurate results in the experiment as compared to the case of the Bingham model without suspension layers.In addition,the elastic soil model by the Hooke’s law can simulate soil hump accurately as compared to the Bingham model.From the simulations,avoiding erosion behind the structure for preventing the structure break during flood are investigated by using an extended structure or a wedge structure.

Face mask detection has several applications,including real-time surveillance,biometrics,etc.Identifying face masks is also helpful for crowd control and ensuring people wear them publicly.With monitoring personnel,it is impossible to ensure that people wear face masks;automated systems are a much superior option for face mask detection and monitoring.This paper introduces a simple and efficient approach for masked face detection.The architecture of the proposed approach is very straightforward;it combines deep learning and local binary patterns to extract features and classify themasmasked or unmasked.The proposed systemrequires hardware withminimal power consumption compared to state-of-the-art deep learning algorithms.Our proposed system maintains two steps.At first,this work extracted the local features of an image by using a local binary pattern descriptor,and then we used deep learning to extract global features.The proposed approach has achieved excellent accuracy and high performance.The performance of the proposed method was tested on three benchmark datasets:the realworld masked faces dataset(RmFD),the simulated masked faces dataset(SmFD),and labeled faces in the wild(LFW).Performancemetrics for the proposed technique weremeasured in terms of accuracy,precision,recall,and F1-score.Results indicated the efficiency of the proposed technique,providing accuracies of 99.86%,99.98%,and 100%for RmFD,SmFD,and LFW,respectively.moreover,the proposed method outperformed state-of-the-art deep learning methods in the recent bibliography for the same problem under study and on the same evaluation datasets.
