A three-dimensional rigid body on the shape of a parallelepiped is modelled in order to rock on a side or a vertex of the base,in order to evaluate the seismic response of rigid blocks lying on a horizontal *** center of mass of the body is considered as eccentric with respect to its geometric *** seismic input,three Italian recorded accelerograms,with different spectral content,are *** study is mainly conducted to highlight the differences between the seismic response of 2D and 3D models of rigid blocks,with the aim to understand if,in some cases,the use of the 3D model of rigid block is required to obtain safer *** fact,the outcomes show that in some ranges of the geometrical and mechanical parameters that characterize the excitation and the body,a two-dimensional model,which is not able to consider the 3D rocking on a vertex,can provide unsafe *** particular,it is found that the overturning process of the three-dimensional block can occur under excitations which are lower than those which overturn a corresponding two-dimensional block.

Takayasu’s arteritis(TA)and Crohn’s disease(CD)are two rare autoimmune disorders;however some reports describe the presence of both diseases in the same *** finding has suggested the possibility that both diseases could share some common etiologic *** describe a case of a 13-year-old male affected by CD characterized by fever,diarrhea,weight loss,abdominal pain and elevation of inflammatory *** and histological features from colonic specimens were consistent with *** with steroids and azathioprine was started,however disease flared every time steroids were *** year later,while still on treatment,he came back to our attention for dyspnea at rest and at night,tiredness and *** physical examination a diastolic heart murmur was found as well as a left carotid artery bruit.A transthoracic echocardiography showed mild aortic valve insufficiency,left ventricular hypertrophy and a dilated ascending aorta with same findings at the aortic arch.A computed tomography scan showed abdominal aortathickening,dilated thoracic aorta and the presence of a thoracic aortic *** associated with CD was diagnosed and medical treatment with cyclophosphamide,steroids and aminosalicylic acid was started,with good clinical response at 6 mo *** discuss the presence of possible common causes for the two diseases and the importance of differential diagnosis in those patients characterized for intractable disease.

Huntington’s disease is a neurodegenerative disease caused by the expansion mutation of a cytosine-adenine-guanine triplet in the exon 1 of the HTT gene which is responsible for the production of the huntingtin (Htt) protein. In physiological conditions, Htt is involved in many cellular processes such as cell signaling, transcriptional regulation, energy metabolism regulation, DNA maintenance, axonal trafficking, and antiapoptotic activity. When the genetic alteration is present, the production of a mutant version of Htt (mHtt) occurs, which is characterized by a plethora of pathogenic activities that, finally, lead to cell death. Among all the cells in which mHtt exerts its dangerous activity, the GABAergic Medium Spiny Neurons seem to be the most affected by the mHtt-induced excitotoxicity both in the cortex and in the striatum. However, as the neurodegeneration proceeds ahead the neuronal loss grows also in other brain areas such as the cerebellum, hypothalamus, thalamus, subthalamic nucleus, globus pallidus, and substantia nigra, determining the variety of symptoms that characterize Huntington’s disease. From a clinical point of view, Huntington’s disease is characterized by a wide spectrum of symptoms spanning from motor impairment to cognitive disorders and dementia. Huntington’s disease shows a prevalence of around 3.92 cases every 100,000 worldwide and an incidence of 0.48 new cases every 100,000/year. To date, there is no available cure for Huntington’s disease. Several treatments have been developed so far, aiming to reduce the severity of one or more symptoms to slow down the inexorable decline caused by the disease. In this context, the search for reliable strategies to target the different aspects of Huntington’s disease become of the utmost interest. In 1944, Messiaen offered a systematic description of his musical language in a text entitled Technique de Mon Langage Musical, an exposition of his compositional techniques that represents one of the most important accounts of his musical thoughts. This text is important not only in understanding his methods of composition, but also in comprehending the multiplicity and variety of his aesthetic ideas. In spite of the large variety of sources that inspire it, in Technique, Messiaen presents a compositional thought that, at least in part, proves to be substantially cohesive The purpose of this paper is to describe the content of the Technique, with particular attention to aspects concerning rhythm and harmony, which are the elements that received Messiaen＇s deepest attention and which also had the greatest influence on later 20th-century composers

Background Patients with cognitive impairment due to cerebral palsy experience pain more often than healthy peers and frequently require diagnostic and therapeutic painful *** and procedural sedation outside the operating room are often required,but they may not adequately be provided because of the inability to accurately recognize and classify the state of pain and for the perceived higher risk of *** sources We reviewed the available literature to highlight the specific risk factors and area of criticism,that should be further *** searched the Cochrane Library,Medline,Pubmed from 1987 to September 2018 using key words such as'cerebral palsy and children and pain'or'sedation and cerebral palsy and children'.Results While different pain scales are useful in recognizing pain expressions,anxiety scales are not ***,studies on non-pharmacological techniques do not always have comparable *** risk factors,from anatomic abnormalities to liver and kidney functioning,should be kept in mind before proceeding with *** Large trials are needed to assess the impact of non-pharmacological techniques and to evaluate which pain control strategy(pharmacological and non-pharmacological)should be used in different settings.

The article concerns the commission that was made by the Biennale di Venezia to Stravinsky in the 50s＇ which led to the composition of the Canticum Sacrum. The discovery of the correspondence between the composer, the artistic director Alessandro Piovesan and the organizers of the Venetian Festival allows to reconstruct the events that led Stravinsky to change his initial plans for a Passion selon Saint Marc in favour of a short Canticum. The objections, which concerned above all the limited size of the piece, were repeated several times by Piovesan, but were all disregarded by Stravinsky. In the light of the eight letters deposited in the Archivio Storico delle Arti Contemporanee （ASAC） of Venice （in Appendix）, the circumstances bringing about Stravinsky＇s refusal can be fully understood. The references to recent studies by David H. Smyth, Akane Mori, and Jonathan Kramer regarding the identification of palindromic and proportional structures in the Canticum, offers further proof sustaining Stravinsky＇s declaration that to enlarge the piece would have been impossible. These events confirm the composer＇s unbending determination to undertake a new experimental stylistic direction already tried out in pieces like the Three Songs from William Shakespeare and Agon.

轻量化是轨道交通车辆发展的重要方向,可降低车辆能耗和运营维护成本.然而车体轻量化改变了车体弹性模态频率,增大了车体结构振动,造成车辆垂向舒适性恶化.提出了一系垂向半主动悬挂策略,即采用可变阻尼减振器替换原有一系垂向减振器,通过对减振器阻尼特性进行实时控制,改善车体刚性和一阶弯曲模态振动.分析了车体刚性和弹性振动与构架振动的耦合关系,在此基础上对一系半主动悬挂的工作原理进行阐述.改进了经典的车辆垂向动力学模型,通过模型计算验证了车体和构架的多种耦合振动关系.对磁流变阻尼减振器的动态特性开展试验测试,建立了该减振器的动力学模型,实现对磁流变阻尼减振器非线性特性的准确预测.以国内某高速列车为原型,建立了完整的车辆动力学模型,并结合磁流变阻尼减振器动力学模型,对一系半主动悬挂的控制策略和应用效果展开研究,得到了两种易于工程应用的控制方法.结果表明一系半主动悬挂对车辆垂向振动,尤其是车体一阶弯曲振动具有显著的控制效果,可改善车辆垂向舒适性指标约30%.
