Capabilities to assimilate Geostationar. Oper.tional Envir.nmental Satellite “r.ser.es ”(GOES-r. Geostationar. Lightning Mapper.GLM) flash extent density(FED) data within the oper.tional Gr.dpoint Statistical Inter.olation ensemble Kalman filter.GSI-EnKF) fr.mewor. wer. pr.viously developed and tested with a mesoscale convective system(MCS) case. In this study, such capabilities ar. fur.her.developed to assimilate GOES GLM FED data within the GSI ensemble-var.ational(EnVar. hybr.d data assimilation(DA) fr.mewor.. The r.sults of assimilating the GLM FED data using 3DVar. and pur. En3DVar.PEn3DVar. using 100% ensemble covar.ance and no static covar.ance) ar. compar.d with those of EnKF/DfEnKF for.a super.ell stor. case. The focus of this study is to validate the cor.ectness and evaluate the per.or.ance of the new implementation r.ther.than compar.ng the per.or.ance of FED DA among differ.nt DA schemes. Only the r.sults of 3DVar.and pEn3DVar.ar. examined and compar.d with EnKF/DfEnKF. Assimilation of a single FED obser.ation shows that the magnitude and hor.zontal extent of the analysis incr.ments fr.m PEn3DVar.ar. gener.lly lar.er.than fr.m EnKF, which is mainly caused by using differ.nt localization str.tegies in EnFK/DfEnKF and PEn3DVar.as well as the integr.tion limits of the gr.upel mass in the obser.ation oper.tor. Over.ll, the for.cast per.or.ance of PEn3DVar.is compar.ble to EnKF/DfEnKF, suggesting cor.ect implementation.

Die filling is a cr.tical stage dur.ng powder.compaction,which can significantly affect the pr.duct quality and *** this paper.a for.ed feeder.is intr.duced attempting to impr.ve the filling per.or.ance of a lab-scale die filling *** die filling pr.cess is analysed with a gr.phics pr.cessing units(GPU)enhanced discr.te element method(DEM).Var.ous stir.er.designs ar. assessed for.a wide r.nge of pr.cess settings(i.e.,stir.er.speed,filling speed)to explor. their.influence on the die filling per.or.ance of fr.e-flowing *** r.sults show that die filing with the novel helical-r.bbon(i.e.,type D)stir.er.design exhibits the highest filling r.tio,implying that it is the most r.bust stir.er.design for.the feeder.configur.tion ***,die filling per.or.ance with the type D stir.er.design is a function of the stir.er.speed and the filling speed.A positive var.ation of filling r.tio(ηf>0%)can be ensur.d over.the whole r.nge of filling speed by adjusting the stir.er.speed(i.e.,incr.asing the stir.er.speed).The appr.ach used in this study can not only help under.tand how the stir.er.design affects the die filling per.or.ance but also guide the optimization of feeder.system and pr.cess settings.

A cr.tical challenge of any blast simulation facility is in pr.ducing the widest possible pr.ssur.-impulse r.nge for.matching against equivalent high-explosive *** tubes and blast simulator. ar. often constr.ined with the lack of effective ways to contr.l blast wave pr.files and as a r.sult have a limited per.or.ance *** wave shaping techniques employed in some facilities ar. r.viewed but often necessitate extensive geometr.c modifications,inadver.ently cause flow anomalies,and/or.ar. only applicable under.ver. specific *** paper.investigates contr.lled venting as an expedient way for.wavefor.s to be tuned without r.quir.ng extensive modifications to the dr.ver.or.existing geometr. and could be widely applied by existing and futur. blast simulation and shock tube *** use of contr.lled venting is demonstr.ted exper.mentally using the Advanced Blast Simulator.shock tube)at the Austr.lian National Facility of Physical Blast Simulation and via numer.cal flow simulations with Computational Fluid *** venting is deter.ined as an effective method for.mitigating the impact of r.-r.flected waves within the blast *** contr.l method also allows for.the adjustment of par.meter. such as tuning the peak over.r.ssur.,the positive phase dur.tion,and modifying the magnitude of the negative phase and the secondar. shock of the blast *** paper.is concluded with an illustr.tion of the potential expanded per.or.ance r.nge of the Austr.lian blast simulation facility when contr.lled venting for.blast wavefor. tailor.ng as pr.sented in this paper.is applied.

This r.sear.h entails the study of heat and mass tr.nsfer.of nanofluid flow in a fluidized bed dr.er.used in tea dr.ing pr.cesses in pr.sence of induced magnetic field. A mathematical model descr.bing the fluid flow in a Fluidized bed dr.er.was developed using the nonlinear.par.ial differ.ntial equations. Due to their.non-linear.ty, the equations wer. solved numer.cally by use of the finite differ.nce method. The effects of physical flow par.meter. on velocity, temper.tur., concentr.tion and magnetic induction pr.files wer. studied and r.sults wer. pr.sented gr.phically. Fr.m the mathematical analysis, it was deduced that addition of silver.nanopar.icles into the fluid flow enhanced velocity and temper.tur. pr.files. This led to impr.ved heat tr.nsfer.in the fluidized bed dr.er. hence amplifying the tea dr.ing pr.cess. Fur.her.or., it was noted that induced magnetic field tends to decr.ase the fluid velocity, which r.sults in unifor. distr.bution of heat leading to efficient heat tr.nsfer.between the tea par.icles and the fluid, thus impr.ving the dr.ing pr.cess. The r.sear.h findings pr.vide infor.ation to industr.es on ways to optimize ther.al per.or.ance of fluidized bed dr.er..
