Background:Lung hypoplasia,pulmonary persistent hypertension of the newborn and its morphological changes are the main features in congenital diaphragmatic hernia(CDH).This study was undertaken to investigate if antenatal use of sildenafil and/or bosentan attenuates vascular remodeling,promotes branching,and improves alveolar.zation in experimental nitrofeninduced ***:Nitrofen(100 mg)was gavage-fed to pregnant rats at post conception day(pCD)9 to induce *** rats were randomized to 5 groups:1)control;2)nitrofen;3)nitrofen+sildenafil 100 mg/kg per day at pCD 16-20;4)nitrofen+bosentan 30 mg/kg per day,at pCD 16-20,and 5)nitrofen+bosentan+sildenafil,same doses and administration *** cesarean delivery,the offsprings were sacrifi *** diaphragmatic defect and pulmonary hypoplasia were identified,and the lungs were *** wall thickness,bronchiolar density and alveolar.zation were ***:The offsprings with CDH were character.zed by severe pulmonary hypoplasia(lung weight-to-body weight ratio:0.0263[95%confidence interval(CI)0.0242-0.0278)]in the nitrofen group versus 0.0385(95%CI 0.0355-0.0424)in the control group(p=0.0001).pulmonary arterial wall thickness was decreased to 3.0(95%CI 2.8-3.7)μm in the nitrofen+sildenafil group versus 5.0(95%CI 4.1-4.9)μm in the nitrofen group(p=0.02).Terminal bronchioles increased to 13.7(95%CI 10.7-15.2)μm in the nitrofen+bosentan group in contrast to 8.7(95%CI 7.2-9.4)μm in the nitrofen group(p=0.002).More significant differences(p=0.0001)were seen in terminal bronchioles in the nitrofen+sildenafil+bosentan group than in the nitrofen group[14.0(95%CI 12.5-15.4)μm versus 8.5(95%CI 7.1-9.3)μm].pulmonary arterial wall thickness was also decreased in the former ***:In this rat model,antenatal treatment with sildenafil attenuates vascular *** promotes the development of terminal bronchioles in nitrofen-induced CDH.

A comprehensive understanding of the complex biogeochemical interactions between organic matter and persistent contaminants in the suspended matter is vital for ecoefficient estuary ***,little is known regarding aeration effects in suspended particulate ***,this study aimed to investigate the effects of aeration on the suspended matter from a Tropical and Eutrophic estuarine *** water with 60 g/L of suspended particulate matter(SpM)was collected from Guanabara Bay,rio de Janeiro,Br.zil,transferred to experimental boxes and aerated for 61 *** aggregates monitoring included abiotic variables measurements and,determination of total organic matter(TOM),biopolymers composition,bacterial activity,trace metals,and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(pAHs)*** aeration enhanced dissolved oxygen(DO)concentration and the redox potential(Eh).However,from days 0 to 61 the predominant bacterial activities were denitrification and *** transport system activity increased after day 10,and aerobic activity was detected after day *** summary,aeration increased aerobic bacterial activity,lipids(LIp)and trace metal concentrations,although diminished protein/carbohydrate ratio and pAH *** metals concentration(Ni,pb,Cu,Cr,Mn,and Fe)were the highest on day 19 when the p H was *** presented toxic values(Cu>20.0μg/g).The p H showed a strong negative correlation with Eh(r=-0.94;pronment(p H≤5.9)in marine ecosystems with high loads of toxic trace metals is unsafe for ***,managers must be aware of the environmental and biological risks of introducing the aeration technique into a eutrophic marine environment.

The identification of jets originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses performed at the Large Hadron Collider,as Standard Model measurements and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAS *** taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and simulation are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multiple tagger working points.

A fragmentation mechanism and character.zation for the first time using Direct Analysis in real Time- Time of Flight-Mass Spectrometry(DArT-TOF-MS)of the tetramethylene diperoxide dicarbamide(TMDD)compound were *** MS-spectrum may support other research about devices and detection in real *** mass spectrum of TMDD obtained using DArT ionization in the positive-ion detection mode exhibited a strong peak at m/z254representing an ammonium adduct([TMMD·NH_4]~+).There was another peak at m/z237,which represented the protonated molecule([TMDD·H]~+)of *** two peaks corroborated the identity of the *** DArT-MS spectra of the TMDD-isotopomer successfully corroborated the respective molecular tails. The principal fragmentation residues also showed coherence according to the number of isotopically labeled atoms on the TMDD *** contrast with other organic peroxides analyzed by this technique,TMDD exhibited substantial *** theoretical modeling results showed that the fragmentation mechanism of the TMDD ion adduct is strongly dependent of the TMDD ring flexibility and the hydrogen bonding formed between the nitrogen and oxygen atoms and the atmospheric proton.

Optimization of the protocol for the in VitroCultivation of piper aduncumL.

piper aduncum L. (piperaceae) has great potential for economic exploration because of the proven use of its essential oil in the agriculture and in the human health. A technique that improves its propagation, as the tissue culture, becomes necessary. Some parameters must be determined for the successful cultivation in vitro. Thus, this study aimed to determine the salts concentration of MS medium, temperature, luminosity and light quality for in vitro culture of this species. The following treatments were conducted: 1/4MS, 1/2MS, MS and 2MS;20℃, 25℃, 30℃ and 35℃;monochromatic blue, red and white lights and the combination of red and blue, using light emitting diodes (LEDs);luminosities of 17, 37, 48 and 73 μmol·m-2·s-1 obtained with cool white fluorescent lamp. After 35 days, the treatments were analyzed. To determine the salts concentration of MS, the variables were evaluated: number of shoots, leaves and roots, length and width of leaves, length and dry mass of root and shoots and percentage of death by necrosis. To the plantlets under different temperatures, length and dry mass of shoot and root, number of shoots, number, length and width of leaves and survival and rooting percentages were measured. The plantlets that were maintained under different luminosities were evaluated for length of shoot and root, dry mass of leaf and root. To evaluate the growth under the LEDs, the length and dry mass of shoot and root, number of shoots and roots, percentage of rooting and sprouting were assessed. The medium 1/4MS and the medium 1/2MS showed better responses for number and length of root, leaf width and shoot length. The temperature 25℃ provided the highest number of leaves, length of shoot and root, root dry mass and rooting percentage. The luminosity 73 μmol·m-2·s-1 provided higher values in length of root and dry mass of leaf and root. The red LED provided plantlets with greater growth. In this work we study the quantum system with the symmetric Konwent potential and show how to find its exact solutions. We find that the solutions are given by the confluent Heun function. The eigenvalues have to be calculated numerically because series expansion method does not work due to the variable z ≥ 1. The properties of the wave functions depending on the potential parameter A are illustrated for given potential parameters V_0 and a. The wave functions are shrunk towards the origin with the increasing |A|. In particular, the amplitude of wave function of the second excited state moves towards the origin when the positive parameter A decreases. We notice that the energy levels ε_i increase with the increasing potential parameter |A| ≥ 1, but the variation of the energy levels becomes complicated for |A| ∈(0, 1), which possesses a double well. It is seen that the energy levels ε_i increase with |A| for the parameter interval A ∈(-1, 0), while they decrease with |A| for the parameter interval A ∈(0, 1).

The Effect of UV Light and CO2in the production of polyunsaturated Aldehydes in Skeletonema costatum(Bacillariophycea)

Skeletonema costatum was submitted to two experiments using UV lights and CO2with the purpose of observing changes in the lipids profile and the synthesis of polyunsaturated aldehydes (pUA) after cell disruption. When cells receive CO2 supply, it was noticed that the production of pUA was significantly lower. The same was observed when the culture was treated with a dose of 45.9 kJ·m-2 of ultra-violet A/B ray. The premise to all experiments was the production of 2,4-heptadienal compared to the supply of EpA as substrate. As a result, the same synthesis rate was observed both when the CO2 treatment was applied and in the experiment control. On the other hand, the culture subjected to ultraviolet radiation showed a 68% greater demand with the utilization of the substrate. These observations suggested that EpA was consumed before cell disruption and was probably exuded to the surrounding environment as a sign of stress. Changes in cell morphology could be observed by the migration of the chloroplast nearby the cell wall, where pUA was produced, indicating a defense strategy.

To date, White Spot Syndrome (WSS) produced by the White Spot Syndrome Virus (WSSV) causes one of the most severe diseases infecting penaeid shrimps worldwide. Although a vast amount of studies has elucidated pathogenesis in live infection models, there is still little information about the interaction of WSSV infections using in vitro models in the whiteleg shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei (L. vannamei) hemocytes. In this study, a WSSV infection kinetics was performed using total hemocytes isolated from healthy L. vannamei organisms and maintained in in vitro conditions using isotonic solution for shrimp (ISS). The infected experimental cells received ≈ 30,000 viral copies of WSSV. The viability of the hemocytes (control and infected group) was measured during the kinetics with trypan blue exclusion method and cells were maintained up to 6 hpi (post-infection) with non-significant differences of viability between both groups. WSSV replication was assessed using rT- pCr at the rNA expression level of the early viral gene Ie1 and transcripts were detected as early as 30 min pi. Hemocytes from WSSV group showed disrupted integrity, degranulation and irregular shape. This study provides evidence of the capability of WSSV to infect and replicates in L. vannamei hemocytes using in vitro assays in short times as 30 min.

Contamination of Water for Domestic Use and Human Consumption by Heavy Metals Derived from Mining Activity in parral, Chihuahua, Mexico

research was done with the objective of evaluating the quality of water supplied to the potable water system in Hidalgo Del parral, which comes from two main supply sources： wells from ＂Valle del Verano＂, which provide water to the east side of the city, and the Water Treatment plant, which receives water from different mines and supplies the west side of the city. When this plant is overcome on its capacity of treatment, a part of the water from the mines is fed directly to the northwest part of the city. The metals lead （pb）, chromium （Cr）, cadmium （Cd）, zinc （zn）, and arsenic （As） were analyzed by atomic absorption （AA） technique, based on the United States Environmental protection Agency （EpA） Method 7000B （revision 2, February 2007）. The digestion process was done according to the guidelines established in Method NMX-AA-051-SCFI-2001, Analysis of Water-Determination of Metals by Atomic Absorption, developed by the National Standardization Technical Committee for Environmental protection （Mexico）. The samples were collected from the following points： 13 wells and 2 re-pumping stations of ＂Valle del Verano＂, the inlet and outlet of the Water Treatment plant, and domestic faucets. The east side of the city, supplied by the wells of ＂Valle del Verano＂, is metal-pollution free. The water that comes from the mines contains high concentrations of As, zn, Cd and pb, with levels that can get to 0.12, 32.6, 0.26 and 3.5 mg/L, respectively. This water pollution generated by mining can be concluded from the high levels found in the domestic samples in which, for several points, the concentrations exceed the parameters set by the current guideline. According to the results, it is vital to set a plan of remediation for the water that comes from the mines, because there is a great risk for health in the consumotion of this water.
