Mapping aboveground biomass by integrating geospatial and forest inventory data through a k-nearest neighbor strategy in North Central Mexico

As climate change negotiations progress,monitoring biomass and carbon stocks is becoming an important part of the current forest ***,national governments are interested in developing forest-monitoring strategies using geospatial *** statistical methods for mapping biomass,there is a nonparametric approach called k-nearest neighbor(kNN).We compared four variations of distance metrics of the kNN for the spatially-explicit estimation of aboveground biomass in a portion of the Mexican north border of the intertropical *** derived,climatic,and topographic predictor variables were combined with the Mexican National Forest Inventory(NFI)data to accomplish the *** of distance metrics applied into the kNN algorithm was evaluated using a cross validation leave-one-out *** results indicate that the Most Similar Neighbor(MSN)approach maximizes the correlation between predictor and response variables(r=0.9).Our results are in agreement with those reported in the *** findings confirm the predictive potential of the MSN approach for mapping forest variables at pixel level under the policy of reducing Emission from Deforestation and Forest Degradation(rEDD+).

Dengue is a global health problem without current specific treatment nor safe vaccines *** severe dengue is related to pre-existing non-neutralizing dengue virus(DENV)antibodies,the role of T cells in protection or pathology is *** cutaneous DENV infection in immunocompetent mice we previously showed the generation of pNA+germinal centers(GCs),now we assessed the activation and proliferation of B and T cells in draining lymph nodes(DLNs).We found a drastic remodelling of DLN compartments from 7 to 14 days post-infection(dpi)with greatly enlarged B cell follicles,occupying almost half of the DLN area compared to*24%in na?ve *** clusters of proliferating(Ki-67+)cells inside B follicles were found 14 dpi,representing*33%of B cells in DLNs but only*2%in noninfected *** GCs,we noticed an important recruitment of tingle body macrophages removing apoptotic *** contrast,the percentage of paracortex area and total T cells decreased by 14–16 dpi,compared to *** randomly distributed Ki-67+T cells were found,similar to non-infected ***69 expression by CD4+and CD8+T cells was minor,while it was remarkable in B cells,representing 1764.7%of change from basal levels 3 *** apparent lack of T cell responses cannot be attributed to apoptosis since no significant differences were observed compared to noninfected *** study shows massive B cell activation and proliferation in DLNs upon DENV *** contrast,we found very poor,almost absent CD4+and CD8+T cell responses.

Effects of organic chromium supplementation to finishing lambs diet on growth performance, carcass characteristics and meat quality

The objective of this study was to evaluate supplemental organic chromium（Cr） to finishing lambs on growth performance, carcass characteristics, and meat quality. Eighteen Suffolk lambs（age（4.5±0.2） mon;（25.8±3.6） kg body weight（BW）） were randomly assigned to three levels of supplemental organic Cr（0.0, 0.2 and 0.4 mg kg^–1 dry matter（DM）） in a complete random design. Growth performance was evaluated for 70 d, and then lambs were slaughtered to study carcass characteristics and chemical composition of meat. Orthogonal contrasts were performed（contrast one-average level 0.2 ppm Cr vs. average level 0.4 ppm Cr; contrast two-level 0 vs. average levels（0.2＋0.4） ppm Cr）. Orthogonal polynomials were used to estimate the linear and quadratic effects of Cr concentrations. Growth and carcass performance were not affected by supplemental organic Cr. Muscle conformation and leg perimeter linearly increased（p〈0.05） as organic Cr level increased in the diet. Kidney fat decreased linearly（p〈0.05） as supplemental Cr increased. In Longissimus dorsi（LD）, the ash content decreased linearly, and shear force（kg cm^–2） increased（p〈0.05） as organic Cr level increased in the diet. It is concluded that organic Cr did not affect growth performance, but it improved positively the muscle conformation, reduced kidney fat, whereas in LD there was an increment in shear force in finishing carcass lambs.

Differential Susceptibility of <i>Conyza bonariensis</i>Biotypes to Glyphosate and ALS-Inhibiting Herbicides in Argentina

The aim of this study was to compare control of three stages biotypes (rosette, bolting, and repro- ductive stage) of Conyza bonariensis glyphosate susceptible biotype (S) and tolerant biotype (T) to glyphosate with glyphosate and mixtures of acetolactate synthase (ALS)-inhibiting. For glyphosate, the dose-response curves confirmed that injury of the biotype T relative to biotype S was signifi- cantly lower for both rosette and bolting stages. resistance index (rI) for this herbicide was approximately 4 for both weed stages. At bolting, for both biotypes doses much higher than the recommended dose were required. For acetolactate synthase (ALS)-inhibiting herbicides, at the rosette stage, control of both biotypes was excellent with doses significantly lower than the recommended rate. All herbicides within this group showed a very low I50 relative to the recommended rate. These results indicate that biotypes difficult to control with glyphosate at the rosette and bolting stage may be controlled using acetolacte synthase (ALS)-inhibiting herbicides. Control for the reproductive stage was poor. A management program based on the combination of glyphosate with pre- and post-emergence acetolactate synthase (ALS) herbicides may be effective to control the weed.

H∞position transfer and regulation for floating offshore wind turbines

This paper proposes H∞controller design for platform position transfer and regulation of floating offshore wind *** platform movability of floating wind turbines can be utilized in mitigating the wake effect in the wind farm,thereby maximizing the wind farm's total power capture and *** controller is designed so that aerodynamic force is adjusted to meet the three objectives simultaneously,that is,1)to generate the desired electrical power level,2)to achieve the desired platform position,and 3)to suppress the platform *** acquire sufficient aerodynamic force to move the heavy platform,the pitch-to-stall blade pitching strategy is taken instead of the commonly-used pitch-to-feather *** desired power level is attained by the standard constant-power strategy for the generator torque,while Hstate-feedback control of blade pitch and nacelle yaw angles is adopted for the position regulation and platform oscillation *** constants for the H∞controller design are adjusted to take the trade-off between the position regulation accuracy and the platform motion *** demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed controler,a virtual 5-MW semi-submersible wind turbine is *** results show that the designed H∞controller successfully accomplishes the platform position transfer and regulation as well as the platform oscillation reduction against wind and wave disturbances,and that it outperforms a previously-proposed linear quadratic controller with an integrator.

The N-representability conditions on the reduced second-order reduced density matrix (2-rDM), impose restrictions not only in the context of reduced density matrix theory (rDMT), but also on functionals advanced in one-matrix theory such as natural orbital functional theory (NOFT), and on functionals depending on the one-electron density such as those of density functional theory (DFT). We review some aspects of the applications of these N-representability conditions in these theories and present some conclusions.

prevalence of Acute Myocardial and Brain Toxicity in Emergency Department patients Exposed to Carbon Monoxide

Introduction: Due to its severe toxicity, carbon monoxide poisoning is an emergency that leads to cardiac and brain involvement, and emergency physicians should aim to master this diagnosis. This study is intended to describe the expected prevalence of these severe toxicities in the emergency department. Materials and Methods: A retrospective cohort of consecutive patients over 16 years of age presenting with carbon monoxide poisoning to the emergency department of the Hospital Universitario Austral, Argentina, during the period from January 2018 to June 2022. The prevalence of myocardial and brain toxicity was assessed regarding percentage, continuous variables with mean and standard deviation, categorical variables with percentage and absolute frequency. positive findings of acute neurological toxicity included seizures, syncope and coma, while cardiovascular toxicity encompassed acute myocardial infarction (MI) diagnosed by electrocardiogram or elevated troponin levels, arrhythmias, and the development of pulmonary edema/ congestive heart failure (CHF) confirmed by chest X-ray with suggestive signs or clinically compatible symptoms. patients were followed-up for 90 days to estimate hospitalization and mortality. results: A total of 67 patients were evaluated;44.77% of them were males with a mean age of 38.5 ± 14.97 years. The prevalence of acute myocardial toxicity was 7.46% (n: 5). Among these patients, 3 had overweight as a risk factor, and 3 showed ECG abnormalities with negative T-waves. The prevalence of acute brain toxicity was 8.9% (n: 6). In total, 37% (n: 25) of patients met the criteria for hyperbaric oxygen therapy, of which 32% (n: 8) underwent more than one session. A total of 7.46% of patients (n: 5) required hospitalization. Mortality at 90 days was 0%. Conclusion: Among the patients who presented to the emergency department, the prevalence of acute myocardial toxicity was 7.46% (n: 5), which is lower than the prevalence reported in other studies t

We demonstrate that a scotogenic dark symmetry can be obtained as a residual subgroup of the global U(1)B−L symmetry already present in the Standard *** addition,we propose a general framework in which the U(1)B−L symmetry is spontaneously broken into an even z2n subgroup,setting the general conditions for neutrinos to be Majorana and for dark matter stability to exist in terms of the residual *** an example,under this general framework,we build a class of simple models where,in a scotogenic manner,the dark matter candidate is the lightest particle running inside the mass loop of a *** global U(1)B−L symmetry in our framework,being anomaly free,can also be gauged in a straightforward manner leading to a richer phenomenology.
