An unsupervised machine-learning workflow is proposed for estimating fractional landscape soils and vegetation components from remotely sensed hyperspectral *** workflow is applied to EO-1 Hyperion satellite imagery collected near Ibirací,minas Gerais,*** proposed workflow includes subset feature selection,learning,and estimation *** training with landscape feature class realizations provide a hypersurface from which to estimate mixtures of soil(e.g.0.5 exceedance for pixels:75%clay-rich Nitisols,15%iron-rich Latosols,and 1%quartz-rich Arenosols)and vegetation(e.g.0.5 exceedance for pixels:4%Aspen-like trees,7%Blackberry-like trees,0%live grass,and 2%dead grass).The process correctly maps forests and iron-rich Latosols as being coincident with existing drainages,and correctly classifies the clay-rich Nitisols and grasses on the intervening *** classifications are independently corroborated visually(Google Earth)and quantitatively(random soil samples and crossplots of field spectra).Some mapping challenges are the underestimation of forest fractions and overestimation of soil fractions where steep valley shadows exist,and the under representation of classified grass in some dry areas of the Hyperion *** preliminary results provide impetus for future hyperspectral studies involving airborne and satellite sensors with higher signal-to-noise and smaller footprints.

SARS-CoV-2 is the causal agent of the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a single-stranded RNA beta-coronavirus that is comprised of a 5′ and 3′-untranslated region (UTR) in its non-coding RNA (ncRNA) region. The P-element-induced wimpy testis (PIWI)-interacting RNAs (piRNAs) are ncRNA sequences that bind to transposons and interfere with the translation of new genes. Here, we search for short sequences in the non-coding regions, corresponding to 28 nucleotides (nt). These start from a uracil and have a conserved region of at least 10 nt of homology with the previously reported piRNAs. The aim of this work was to identify piRNA-like sequences in the 3′-UTR of SARS-CoV-2 from the reported Wuhan Patient's genome sequence (GenBank: mN908947.3).

This study aims at investigating the effects of foliar application of aqueous solutions of La3+and Ce3+nitrates on soybean plants(Glycine max).First,we observe that Triton HW 1000 surfactant at 0.01 vol%reduces droplets contact angle and increases their drying *** greenhouse conditions,the foliar treatments do not affect chlorophyll content,plant height,number of leaves,number of pods,number of seeds per pod,and average seed ***,the treatments induce phytotoxicity since foliar injuries appear after the *** X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy combined to scanning electron microscopy shows that the leaf lesions are positively correlated to accumulation of Ce and La on the leaf surface and also promote structural alteration to the epidermal cells.X-ray absorption near edge structure shows that the La and Ce nitrates are partially bio transformed into oxides by the leaves which might explain the harmful effects.

Cables and wires, which are essential parts of equipment for the transmission of both information and electricity, contain valuable materials including copper (Cu) and aluminum (Al). This experimental work evaluates the use of mechanical processing (grinding and sieving), followed by spouted bed elutriation, for separation of the valuable materials (steel-coated copper, copper, and aluminum) present in waste coaxial and internet cables. A recovery efficiency of approximately 90% was achieved for the steel-coated copper in coaxial cables. For in ternet cables, the copper recovery efficiency was approximately 87%. These findings dem on strate that it is possible to separate, recover, and recycle the valuable materials (metals) present in waste cables using simple, low-cost, and efficient mechanical processing followed by spouted bed elutriation.

Wax obtained from the pyrolysis of polyethylene waste can contain inorganic contaminants and must be purified before *** evaluated different filter aids(perlite,sand,and rice husk ash)for the filtration of a crude wax and a pyrolysis wax through a filter medium that was coated with nylon 6 nanofibers to improve filtration *** first examined the performance of the filter aids in improving crude wax filtration,with the filtration time,temperature,and pressure held constant at 1 h,170℃,and 2.5 bar,*** wax was then produced by pyrolysis of high-density polyethylene(HDPE)waste in the temperature range 425-475℃.The best filter aid was perlite,which had a filtrate production rate of 5.47×10^(-5)m^(3)/*** highest oily wax yield(87.8%)was achieved at a pyrolysis temperature of 425℃.The assembly comprising the filter medium coated with nylon 6 nanofibers plus perlite as a filter aid was most suitable for removing impurities from the oily wax generated by the HDPE pyrolysis as it achieved a purification efficiency of 99.9%.

Analysis of the genotoxic potential of low concentrations of malathion on the Allium cepa cells and rat hepatoma tissue culture

Based on the concentration of malathion used in the field, we evaluated the genotoxic potential of low concentrations of this insecticide on meristematic and F1 cells of Allium cepa and on rat hepatoma tissue culture（HTC cells）. In the A. cepa, chromosomal aberrations（CAs）, micronuclei（mN）, and mitotic index（mI） were evaluated by exposing the cells at 1.5,0.75, 0.37, and 0.18 mg/m L of malathion for 24 and 48 hr of exposure and 48 hr of recovery time. The results showed that all concentrations were genotoxic to A. cepa cells. However,the analysis of the mI has showed non-relevant effects. Chromosomal bridges were the CA more frequently induced, indicating the clastogenic action of malathion. After the recovery period, the higher concentrations continued to induce genotoxic effects, unlike the observed for the lowest concentrations tested. In HTC cells, the genotoxicity of malathion was evaluated by the mN test and the comet assay by exposing the cells at 0.09, 0.009, and0.0009 mg/5 m L culture medium, for 24 hr of exposure. In the comet assay, all the concentrations induced genotoxicity in the HTC cells. In the mN test, no significant induction of mN was observed. The genotoxicity induced by the low concentrations of malathion presented in this work highlights the importance of studying the effects of low concentrations of this pesticide and demonstrates the efficiency of these two test systems for the detection of genetic damage promoted by malathion.

The age range of the major intra-plate volcanic event that affected the northern Indian margin in the Early Cretaceous is here defined precisely by detrital zircon geochronology. U-Pb ages of Early Cretaceous detrital zircons found in the Cretaceous to the Paleocene sandstones cluster mainly between 142 ma and 123 ma in the northern Tethys Himalayan unit, and between 140 ma and 116 ma in the southern Tethys Himalayan unit. The youngest and oldest detrital zircons within this group indicate that volcanism in the source areas started in the latest jurassic and ended by the early Albian. Stratigraphic data indicate that volcaniclastic sedimentation began significantly earlier in southern Tibet （Tithonian） than in Nepal （Valangin- ian）, and considerably later in Spiti and Zanskar （Aptian/AIbian） to the west. This apparent westward migration of magmatism was explained with progressive westward propagation of extensional/transtensional tectonic activity and development of fractures cutting deeply across the Indian continental margin crust. However, detrital zircon geochronology provides no indication of heterochroneity in magmatic activity in the source areas from east to west, and thus lends little support to such a scenario. Westward migration of volcaniclastic sedimentation may thus reflect instead the westward progradation of major drainage systems supplying volcanic detritus sourced from the same volcanic centers in the east. Development of multiple radial drainage away from the domal surface uplift associated with magmatic upwelling, as observed for most large igneous provinces around the world, may also explain why U-Pb ages of detrital zircons tend to cluster around 133-132 ma （the age of the Cornel igneous province） in Tethys Himalayan units, but around 118-117 ma （the age of the Rajmahal igneous province） in Lesser Himalayan units.

In this manuscript,as a starting point,the ancient and current distribution of the genus Tapirus are summarized,from its origins,apparently in Europe,to current ***,original and current tapir habitats are de-scribed,as well as changes in ancient *** the manuscript goes on,we examine the ways in which tapir species interact with their habitats and the main aspects of habitat use,spatial ecology and *** reviewed the historic and current distribution of tapirs,as well as their use and selection of habitats,we intro-duce the concept of adaptability,considering that some of the tapir physiological characteristics and behavior-al strategies can reduce the negative impact of habitat alteration and climate ***,we provide rec-ommendations for future research *** conservation community is still missing important pieces of information for the effective conservation of tapirs and their remaining habitats in Central and South America and Southeast *** how tapir species reached their current distribution ranges,interpreting how they interact with their habitats and gathering information regarding the strategies they use to cope with habitat changes will increase our understanding about these animals and contribute to the development of conservation strategies.

Combined U-Pb SHRImP and Hf isotope study of the Late Paleozoic Yaminue Complex,Rio Negro Province,Argentina:Implications for the origin and evolution of the Patagonia composite terrane

We have carried out zircon U-Pb SHRImP dating and Hf isotope determinations on a biotite paraschist and on a tonalitic orthogneiss of the Yaminué Complex, and re-evaluate this complex in the broader context of the tectonic evolution of the Patagonia composite terrane. In the metasedimentary unit （msuYC）, the youngest detrital zircon dated at 318 ± 5 ma （mississippian/Pennsylvanian boundary） indicates a Pennsylvanian （or younger） depositional age. The three main age populations peak at 474, 454 and 374 ma. Preliminary Hf isotope data for two detrital zircons （447 and 655 ma） yielded ε（Hf） values of -0.32 and 0.48, indicating that their primary sources contained small amounts of recycled crustal components （of Calymmian age; TDm 1.56 Ga）. Zircons from the orthogneiss （miuYC; intrusive into msuYC） show a crystallization age of 261.3 - 2.7 ma （Capitanian; late middle Permian） which is broadly coeval with deformation, and Neoarchean-Paleoproterozoic inheritance. meaningful core-rim relationship between Neoarchean zircon cores and late Permian rims is well defined, indicating the occurrence of Archean crust in this sector of Patagonia. Hf TDm of Permian zircons is mainly meso-Paleoarchean （2.97-3.35 Ga）, with highly negative e（Hf） values （ca, -33）. Hf TDm of inherited Neoarchean zircon cores is also meso-Paleoarchean （3.14-3.45 Ga） but more juvenile （ε（Hf） = -0.3）. Hf isotopes reinforce the presence of unexposed ancient crust in this area. Combining geological and isotope data, as well as geophysical models, we identify the Yaminué Complex within the La Esperanza-Yaminué crustal block flanked by two other, distinct crustal blocks： the Eastern block which forms part of the Patagonia terrane sensu stricto, located in the eastern Patagonian region, and the Western block forming part of the Southern Patagonia terrane. Their origins and timing of amalgamation to form the Patagonia composite terrane are also discussed.
