In this paper, wavelet transform and entropy are evaluated using the mathematical analysis concepts of reflexibility, regularity and series obtention, these concepts remark the reason to make a selective reference framework for power quality applications. With this idea the paper used the same treatment for the two algorithms (Multiresolution and Multiscale Entropy). The wavelet is denoted to have the most power full consistence to the light off the reflexibility, regularity and series obtention. The paper proposes a power quality technique namely MpqAT.

Dear Editor,Hereditary prostate cancer(PC)comprises 5%-10%of all PC cases.The increased risk of PC in menwith a family his-tory of the disease is well known and is commonly caused by germline mutations,leading to clinical guidelines men-tioning various genes for identifying high-risk individuals.However,the complex inheritance patterns involvingmul-tiple single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)make it a genetically heterogeneous disease,with genetic testing still in its early stages.

The interaction between the nucleus and the different organelles is important in the physiology of the plant.Reac-tive oxygen species(ROS)are a by-product of the oxidation of organic molecules to obtain energy by the need to carry out the electron transfer between the different enzymatic complexes.However,they also have a role in the generation of what is known as retrograde signaling.This signal comes from the different organelles in which the oxidation of molecules or the electron transference is taking place such as mitochondria and chloroplasts.Furthermore,ROS can also induce the release of signals from the apoplast.It seems that these signals plays a role communicating to the nucleus the current status of the different parts of the plant cell to induce a changes in gene expression.In this review,the molecular mechanism of ROS retrograde signaling is described.

Piwi-interacting RNAs(piRNAs of 26-32 nt in length)regulate gene expression,epigenetics,and transcriptional and post-transcriptional processes.1 In humans,piRNAs are expressed in germline and somatic tissues,and generally have a uracil at the 5'-end(position+1),an adenine at the+10 position,and are 2'-0 methylated at the 3'-end.2 Onice piRNAs form the RNA-induced silencing complex(RISC)with PIWl proteins,they serve as guides to find their complementary sequences of the target mRNA,thus initiating their degradation.The Wuhan patient's genome is approximately 265 nucleotides(nts)in its 3'-UTR;piRNAs-like sequences have been reported in this region.3 Our objective was to search,through bioinformatics,for mRNA sequences that were homologous to the reverse complementary of the previously reported piRNA-like sequences from the 3'-UTR of SARS-Cov-2,3 and identify the possible interaction between them.

BACKGROUND Achalasia is a rare benign esophageal motor disorder characterized by incomplete relaxation of the lower esophageal sphincter(LES). The treatment of achalasia is not curative, but rather is aimed at reducing LES pressure. In patients who have failed noninvasive therapy, surgery should be considered. Myotomy with partial fundoplication has been considered the first-line treatment for non-advanced achalasia. Recently, peroral endoscopic myotomy(POEM), a technique that employs the principles of submucosal endoscopy to perform the equivalent of a surgical myotomy,has emerged as a promising minimally invasive technique for the management of this condition.AIM To compare POEM and laparoscopic myotomy and partial fundoplication(LM-PF) regarding their efficacy and outcomes for the treatment of achalasia.METHODS Forty treatment-naive adult patients who had been diagnosed with achalasia based on clinical and manometric criteria(dysphagia score ≥ II and Eckardt score > 3) were randomized to undergo either LM-PF or POEM. The outcome measures were anesthesia time, procedure time, symptom improvement, reflux esophagitis(as determined with the Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease Questionnaire), barium column height at 1 and 5 min(on a barium esophagogram), pressure at the LES, the occurrence of adverse events(AEs), length of stay(LOS), and quality of life(QoL).RESULTS There were no statistically significant differences between the LM-PF and POEM groups regarding symptom improvement at 1, 6, and 12 mo of follow-up(P = 0.192, P = 0.242, and P = 0.242, respectively). However, the rates of reflux esophagitis at 1, 6, and 12 mo of follow-up were significantly higher in the POEM group(P = 0.014, P < 0.001, and P = 0.002, respectively). There were also no statistical differences regarding the manometry values, the occurrence of AEs, or LOS. Thermal and salinity effects on locomotor performance of Thoropa taophora tadpoles(Anura,Cycloramphidae)

It is well known that environmental temperature influences several biological functions of ectotherms,notably in amphibians.The high permeability of anuran skin,associated with the effect of elevated environmental temperature,potentiates the dehydration process and this combination may restrict locomotor performance.Thoropa taophora is an endemic species from the Atlantic Rainforest whose tadpoles are semiterrestrial and predominantly diurnal,and are found in rocky seashores where they are exposed to sea spray and high temperatures.In this study we investigated how temperature and salinity conditions affect the locomotor performance in Thoropa taophora tadpoles.We also assessed how different osmotic concentrations affect the activity of the metabolic pathways that support muscle function.We measured the sprint speed of tadpoles of various sizes at different temperatures and salinities in the field.We also measured the activity of the enzymes pyruvate kinase(PK),lactate dehydrogenase(LDH)and citrate synthase(CS)in different temperatures and osmotic concentrations,and calculated the thermal sensitivity and the activity constants for each osmolality.Our results showed that,in general,sprint speed decreased with increasing temperature and salinity.However,whereas the effect of increased salinity was similar in smaller and larger tadpoles,increased temperature had a higher negative impact on sprint speed of larger tadpoles,thus indicating low thermal sensitivity of small tadpoles.PK and LDH thermal sensitivities and LDH constant of activity decreased as the osmolality increased.In conclusion,the locomotor capacity of tadpoles was decreased by temperature and salinity,which may be related to a decrease in anaerobic metabolism both in terms of sensitivity and total energy turnover through enzymatic activity.We discuss the ecological consequences,including the potential impacts on predator escape behavior promoted by changes in metabolism and locomotor performance in an early stage of development of this specie

Here we present new data on the major and trace element compositions of silicate and oxide minerals from mantle xenoliths brought to the surface by the Carolina kimberlite,Pimenta Bueno Kimberlitic Field,which is located on the southwestern border of the Amazonian Craton.We also present Sr-Nd isotopic data of garnet xenocrysts and whole-rocks from the Carolina kimberlite.Mantle xenoliths are mainly clinopyroxenites and garnetites.Some of the clinopyroxenites were classified as GPP–PP–PKP(garnet-phlogopite peridotite,phlogopite-peridotite,phlogopite-K-richterite peridotite)suites,and two clinopyroxenites(eclogites)and two garnetites are relicts of an ancient subducted slab.Temperature and pressure estimates yield 855–1102℃ and 3.6–7.0 GPa,respectively.Clinopyroxenes are enriched in light rare earth elements(LREE)(La_(N)/Yb_(N)=5–62;Ce_(N)/Sm_(N)=1–3;where N=primitive mantle normalized values),they have high Ca/Al ratios(10–410),low to medium Ti/Eu ratios(742–2840),and low Zr/Hf ratios(13–26),which suggest they were formed by metasomatic reactions with CO_(2)-rich silicate melts.Phlogopite with high TiO_(2)(>2.0 wt.%),Al_(2)O_(3)(>12.0 wt.%),and FeOt(5.0–13.0 wt.%)resemble those found in the groundmass of kimberlites,lamproites and lamprophyres.Conversely,phlogopite with low TiO_(2)(<1.0 wt.%)and lower Al_(2)O_(3)(<12.0 wt.%)are similar to those present in GPP-PP-PKP,and in MARID(mica-amphibole-rutile-ilmenite-diopside)and PIC(phlogopite-ilmenite-clinopyorxene)xenoliths.The GPP-PP-PKP suite of xenoliths,together with the clinopyroxene and phlogopite major and trace element signatures suggests that an intense proto-kimberlite melt metasomatism occurred in the deep cratonic lithosphere beneath the Amazonian Craton.The Sr-Nd isotopic ratios of pyrope xenocrysts(G3,G9 and G11)from the Carolina kimberlite are characterized by high ^(143)Nd/^(144)Nd(0.51287–0.51371)and eNd(+4.55 to+20.85)accompanied with enriched ^(87)Sr/^(86)Sr(0.70405–0.71098).These results suggest interaction with a proto-kimberlite melt compositional

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading global cause of mortality and disease burden. Statins are the most prescribed lipid-lowering drugs to treat hypercholesterolemia and prevent CVDs. The biochemical mechanism of statins consists of competitive inhibition of the 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase enzyme (HMG-CoAR)， the limiting enzyme in cholesterol biosynthesis. Due to statin intolerance in some patient groups， the search for new inhibitors is a field of great interest. This review focusses on the studies reporting the inhibitory effect of protein hydrolysates and biopeptides on the HMG-CoAR enzyme activity. The analysis of the action mechanism and physicochemical characteristics of the HMG-CoAR inhibitory peptides revealed that the molecular weight， amino acid composition， charge， and polarity are key aspects of the interaction with the HMG-CoAR enzyme. In conclusion， this review reveals the potential of using food peptides as new cholesterol-lowering agents and opens a new interesting field of research. However， clinical approaches are mandatory to confirm their therapeutic hypercholesterolemic effect.

We consider nested or multiscale models to study the effect of the temporal evolution of the disease within the host in the population dynamics of the disease,for one and two infectious agents.We assumed a coupling between the within-host infection rate and the between-host transmission rate.The age of infection within each individual in a population affects the probability of transmission of the disease to a susceptible host and this will affect the temporal evolution of the disease in the host population.To analyze the infection within the host,we consider bacterial-like and viral-like infections.In the model for two infectious agents,we found that,when strain 2 has a basic reproduction number R02 greater than the basic reproduction number R01 of strain 1,strain 2 replaces strain 1 in the population.However,if R02>R01 but the values are closer,the replacement does not occur immediately and both strains can coexist for a long time.We applied the model to a scenario in which patients infected with the hepatitis C virus(HCV)are cleared of HCV when super-infected with the hepatitis A virus(HAV).We compared the time for the replacement of HCV by HAV in the population considering instantaneous and noninstantaneous replacement within the individuals.The model developed can be generalized for more than two infectious agents.
