A factorial experimental design was combined with response surface methodology(rSM) to opti-mize the catalyzed CO2 consumption by coke deposition and syngas production during the dry re-forming of CH4. The CH4 /CO2 feed ratio and the reaction temperature were chosen as the variables, and the selected responses were CH4 and CO2 conversion, the H2 /CO ratio, and coke deposition. The optimal reaction conditions were found to be a CH4 /CO2 feed ratio of approximately 3 at 700 °C, producing a large quantity of coke and realizing high CO2 conversion. Furthermore, raman results showed that the CH4 /CO2 ratio and reaction temperature affect the system's response, particularly the characteristics of the coke produced, which indicates the formation of carbon nanotubes and amorphous carbon.

Health Vigilance and risk Factors for Cervical Cancer: A Study in the State of Maranhão, Brazil

The purpose of this cross-sectional study was to investigate the importance of health vigilance in the prevention of cervical cancer. The sample consisted of 536 women. To identify which risk factors were associated with cervical cancer or with an increase in the mortality rate of this kind of cancer, a logistic regression model was used. The Odds ratios (Or) and their respective 95% confidence intervals were also calculated. Most of them were at the age of highest incidence of cervical cancer (21 - 59 years old), had an unstable conjugal situation, minimal educational level (78.7%), low income (58.3%), consumed alcoholic beverages (56.4%), had a history of smoking (57.0%) and possessed limited knowledge about the prevention. These results are discussed in terms of a predictive model for cervical cancer that considers the importance of public health vigilance in the screening and precocious diagnosis.

Comparative Study of the Protein Contents of Local and Imported rice Consumed in Senegal

Protein is essential for the growth and maintenance of the body. They play a crucial role in different biological processes. This study focuses on comparing the protein contents of local rice grown in the Senegal river valley and rice imported from Asia. The objective is to evaluate the importance of the protein nutritional value of local rice compared to imported rice. Protein contents were determined using the Kjeldahl method. The results of the protein assays show that local rice varieties such as Sahel 108 and Sahel 134 grown in the Thilène basins had protein percentages comparable to those of imported rice. The protein percentages were 15.19% ± 0.91% for the Sahel 108 variety and 16.62% ± 0.01% for the Sahel 134 variety compared to 15.8% ± 0.01% on average for imported rice. Thus from the point of view of protein content, local rice has a nutritional value identical to that of imported rice which it can validly replace. It is important in Senegal to encourage local production, which would make it possible to reduce imports on the one hand and to make quality rice available to the local Senegalese market on the other. Sahel varieties with high protein contents deserve large-scale development to meet the country’s protein needs.

Optimization of long-term mine production scheduling in open pit mines deals with the management of cash flows, typically in the order of hundreds of millions of dollars. Conventional mine scheduling utilizes optimization methods that are not capable of accounting for inherent technical uncertainties such as uncertainty in the expected ore/metal supply from the underground, acknowledged to be the most critical factor. To integrate ore/metal uncertainty into the optimization of mine production scheduling a stochastic integer programming(SIP) formulation is tested at a copper deposit. The stochastic solution maximizes the economic value of a project and minimizes deviations from production targets in the presence of ore/metal uncertainty. Unlike the conventional approach, the SIP model accounts and manages risk in ore supply, leading to a mine production schedule with a 29% higher net present value than the schedule obtained from the conventional, industry-standard optimization approach, thus contributing to improving the management and sustainable utilization of mineral resources.

Background Anthonomus grandis grandis is the main cotton pest in the Americas,with the potential to become a pest in other *** insect uses the plant's reproductive organs for feeding,oviposition,and survival strategies in the off-season,sheltering in dry *** study aimed to know the reproductive potential,feeding,longevity,and morphometric characteristics of boll weevils from dry bolls,squares,and *** were obtained from infested squares,dry bolls,and traps installed in cotton fields and the Caatinga *** weevil pairs were maintained in the laboratory to assess the oviposition,feeding holes,longevity,and morphometric measurements of the parental and F_(1) *** In the parental generation,boll weevils from traps(the Caatinga area and cotton cultivation)showed greater reproductive *** weevils from squares and the Caatinga area showed greater feeding activity compared with those from cotton *** rostrum length,thorax+abdomen length,and abdomen width were observed in boll weevils from cotton cultivation and dry *** origin of boll weevils parental generation did not affect progeny emergence *** F_(1) generation of boll weevils showed significant differences in average longevity depending on the origin of different ***,differences in rostrum lengths were observed,with the boll weevils coming from traps installed in cotton cultivation,the Caatinga area,and dry bolls being the *** thorax+abdomen length and abdomen width,the highest values were observed in those from the Caatinga area and cotton *** It was proven that dry bolls did not affect the reproductive,feeding,and longevity performance of boll weevils,enabling better insect fitness(reproduction and size)in relation to those coming from *** use of dry bolls as off-season shelter is an important survival strategy for the boll weevil.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is highly prevalent in patients with diabetes mellitus and increasing evidence suggests that patients with type 2diabetes are at a particularly high risk for developing the progressive forms of NAFLD,non-alcoholic steatohepatitis and associated advanced liver ***,diabetes is an independent risk factor for NAFLD progression,and for hepatocellular carcinoma development and liver-related mortality in prospective ***,patients with NAFLD have an elevated prevalence of *** studies have shown that NAFLD presence predicts the development of type2 *** and NAFLD have mutual pathogenetic mechanisms and it is possible that genetic and environmental factors interact with metabolic derangements to accelerate NAFLD progression in diabetic *** diagnosis of the more advanced stages of NAFLD in diabetic patients shares the same challenges as in non-diabetic patients and it includes imaging and serological methods,although histopathological evaluation is still considered the gold standard diagnostic *** effective established treatment is not yet available for patients with steatohepatitis and fibrosis and randomized clinical trials including only diabetic patients are *** sought to outline the published data including epidemiology,pathogenesis,diagnosis and treatment of NAFLD in diabetic patients,in order to better understand the interplay between these two prevalent diseases and identify the gaps that still need to be fulfilled in the management of NAFLD in patients with diabetes mellitus.
