Discrete element method simulation of segregation pattern in a sinter cooler charging chute system

This paper presents the simulation of material flows in the large-scale charging chute of Fos-Sur-Mer sinter cooler plant by using three-dimensional Discrete Element Method(DEM).As a result of granular flows in the chute,segregation patterns are formed at the charging *** sinter material is modelled as dry particles and their size distribution in the simulation is larger than in the reality to keep the simulation in a reasonable run *** calibration tests are performed to specify the DEM contact parameters in order to replicate the behavior observed during experiments with the virtual sinter *** DEM model is found to be in good agreement with a segregation measurement.A sensitivity analysis using different particle sizes shows that the segregation patterns are not affected by the different sizes used for fine ***,the filling ratio in the charging system is varied in the model and shows that a high filling ratio leads to less segregation when exiting the charging *** DEM model is used to analyze the granular flows in the charging chute,understand the material behavior and optimize the sinter cooling efficiency.

The goal of this paper is to propose a unique control method that permits the evolution of both timed continuous Petri net （TCPN） and T-timed discrete Petri net （T-TDPN） from an initial state to a desired one. Model predictive control （MPC） is a robust control scheme against perturbation and a consistent real-time constraints method. Hence, the proposed approach is studied using the MPC. However, the computational complexity may prevent the use of the MPC for large systems and for large prediction horizons. Then, the proposed approach provides some new techniques in order to reduce the high computational complexity; among them one is taking constant control actions during the prediction.

Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis are progressive diseases associated with a high risk of complications over time including strictures,fistulae,perianal complications,surgery,and colorectal *** the natural history and avoiding evolution to a disabling disease should be the main goal of *** recent studies,mucosal healing has been associated with longer-term remission and fewer *** therapies with immunosuppressive drugs are able to induce mucosal healing in a minority of cases but their impact on disease progression appears *** rates of mucosal healing can be achieved with anti-tumor necrosis factor therapies that reduce the risk of relapse,surgery and hospitalization,and are associated with perianal fistulae *** drugs might be able to change the natural history of the disease mainly when introduced early in the course of the *** strategy in inflammatory bowel diseases should thus be tailored according to the risk that each patient could develop disabling disease.

While therapeutic strategies able to change the natural history of the disease are developing,it is of major importance to have available predictive factors for aggressive disease to try and target these therapeutic *** predictors have probably been the most broadly *** both Crohn's disease(CD) and ulcerative colitis(UC),age at diagnosis,disease location and smoking habit are currently the strongest predictors of disease course.A younger age at onset is associated with more aggressive disease both in CD and *** location in CD is associated with different types of complications:surgery and recurrence in upper gastrointestinal and proximal small bowel disease;and surgery in distal small bowel disease and peri-anal lesions in rectal *** UC,extensive colitis is clearly been associated with more severe ***,active smoking globally increases disease severity in CD but decreases it in *** these important factors,others may predispose to some specific disease evolution and complications,and are also reviewed in the present paper.

The optimal duration of biological treatment, particularly anti-TNF, in inflammatory bowel disease （IBD） is a very important question both for patients and physicians. There is no published evidence to clearly and definitely answer this question. However data on natural history of IBD, long term safety of biologics, immunosuppressors （IS） cessation and some preliminary studies on biologics cessation may help us to discuss this topic. The decision to stop a biological treatment is currently based on a compromise between the benefits and risks associated with the prolongation of this treatment. IBD, more particularly CD, are characterized by the development of complications and the need for recurrent hospitalizations and surgeries in approximately 2/3 of cases. In these patients potentially in need of biological treatments, it is probable that, as it has been demonstrated for IS, the longer a stable remission has be achieved under treatment, the lower the risk of relapse is alter treatment cessation. Further prospective studies should now aim at disclosing patient characteristics associated with a low risk of relapse to imple- ment this strategy.

Secondary metabolites(SMs)produced by soil bacteria,for instance antimicrobials and siderophores,play a vital role in bacterial adaptation to soil and root ecosystems and can contribute to plant *** SMs are non-ribosomal peptides and polyketides,assembled by non-ribosomal peptides synthetase(NRPS)and polyketide synthase(PKS)and encoded by biosynthetic gene clusters(BGCs).Despite their ecological importance,little is known about the occurrence and diversity of NRPs and PKs in *** extracted NRPS-and PKS-encodiing BGCs from 20 publicly available soil and root-associated metagenomes and annotated them using *** found that the overall abundance of NRPSs and PKSs is similar in both environments,however NRPSs and PKSs were significantly clustered between soil and root ***,the majority of identified sequences were unique to either soil-or root-associated datasets and had low identity to known BGCs,suggesting their ***,this study illuminates the huge untapped diversity of predicted SMs in soil and root microbiomes,and indicates presence of specific SMs,which may play a role in inter-and intra-bacteriial interactions in root ecosystems.

We consider stochastic semi-linear evolution equations which are driven by additive, spatially correlated, Wiener noise, and in particular consider problems of heat equation （analytic semigroup） and damped-driven wave equations （bounded semigroup） type. We discretize these equations by means of a spectral Galerkin projection, and we study the approximation of the probability distribution of the trajectories： test functions are regular, but depend on the values of the process on the interval [0, T]. We introduce a new approach in the context of quantative weak error analysis for discretization of SPDEs. The weak error is formulated using a deterministic function （It6 map） of the stochastic convolution found when the nonlinear term is dropped. The regularity properties of the It6 map are exploited, and in particular second-order Taylor expansions employed, to transfer the error from spectral approximation of the stochastic convolution into the weak error of interest. We prove that the weak rate of convergence is twice the strong rate of convergence in two situations. First, we assume that the covariance operator commutes with the generator of the semigroup： the first order term in the weak error expansion cancels out thanks to an independence property. Second, we remove the commuting assumption, and extend the previous result, thanks to the analysis of a new error term depending on a commutator.

Purpose – Although IPO and Chinese firms have been subject to investigation by studies in the past years,a literature review reveals that only few scholars have examined the motivations of Chinese firms to IPO and even less explored the motivations and determinants for Chinese firms to seek a foreign ***,this thesis aims to shed a light on why an increasing number of Chinese entrepreneurial firms seek a foreign IPO and what are the determinants of Foreign IPO for Chinese entrepreneurial ***,in this study are examined the motivations that lead a Chinese firms to IPO abroad and are developed several hypotheses with the purpose of explaining this ***/methodology/approach – The researcher employs a quantitative research by using a sample of data comprising of all Chinese foreign IPOs completed in the period *** thesis reports the differentiating characteristics of Chinese firms going public abroad and uses a logistic regression model in order to determine which characteristics are significant in the *** – Three of the findings are consistent with the hypotheses,since firm size,future prospects and leverage increase the likelihood of a Chinese firm to do a foreign *** limitations/future research – Future studies may provide a qualitative analysis based on the proposed framework and propositions as the author only aimed for empirical generalization and did not explore theoretical qualitative *** research could include interviews with CEOs of Chinese companies seeking to do a Foreign IPO to better understand the rationale behind this choice and the embedded characteristics of each *** may also further develop the proposed factors contributing to the decision of a Chinese firm to go public abroad,and analyses correlation between certain determinants and the ones ***,more research could be done in the domain of the choice of location,in order to understand why Chinese firms doing a
