The bamboo industry in Central Luzon holds significant promise for economic development and environmental sustainability. This study aims to analyze the internal and external factors influencing the bamboo industry in the region through SWOT and PESTLE analyses. Based on a focus group discussion involving key industry players, the study explores the industry’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, as well as political, economic, social, technological, legal, and environmental factors. Findings reveal the importance of comprehensive strategies that address political stability, economic growth, consumer awareness, technological advancement, legal compliance, and environmental sustainability. Recommendations include capacity-building for production and marketing, the establishment of bamboo treatment facilities, and advocacy for supportive policies. By addressing these factors, the bamboo industry in Central Luzon can realize its potential for socio-economic development and environmental stewardship.

Knowing what native trees can recr uit on degraded areas allows selecting the best species to restore these ***,as this information is not often available,experimentation is required before large-scale *** study used ex situ experiments to make these decisions on *** with r-strategist plants,excessive solar radiation and water shortage commonly impair tree recruitment in open *** experiments focused on the interactions among these factors and were conducted with three pioneer species from seasonally dry forests of northwest Argentina,Anadenanthera colubrina,Ceiba chodatii and Jacaranda *** of each species were sown at two light levels(sunlight/shade),two rainfall levels(full/reduced)and two levels of interspecific competition(with/without competitor)in a tree *** emergence and survival were monitored over a year and the results indicate that species differentially respond to varying levels of light and *** of *** tolerated water shortages under elevated solar radiation,which are desirable features for forest *** of *** tolerated shade and drought,suggesting that they require shading for establishing in open ***,*** seedlings neither tolerated full sunlight nor water shortages,suggesting that this species requires shading and regular watering if used in *** of the effects of light and water,the survival of all species was reduced by interspecific *** results highlight the importance of experimentation for selecting the best species for forest restoration and can enhance the cost/benefit ratios of these actions.

To date,skin wounds are still an issue for healthcare *** numerous approaches have been developed over the years for skin regeneration,recent advances in regenerative medicine offer very promising strategies for the fabrication of artificial skin substitutes,including 3D bioprinting,electrospinning or spraying,among *** particular,skin sprays are an innovative technique still under clinical evaluation that show great potential for the delivery of cells and hydrogels to treat acute and chronic *** sprays present significant advantages compared to conventional treatments for wound healing,such as the facility of application,the possibility to treat large wound areas,or the homogeneous distribution of the sprayed *** this article,we review the latest advances in this technology,giving a detailed description of investigational and currently commercially available acellular and cellular skin spray products,used for a variety of diseases and applying different experimental ***,as skin sprays products are subjected to different classifications,we also explain the regulatory pathways for their commercialization and include the main clinical trials for different skin diseases and their treatment ***,we argue and suggest possible future trends for the biotechnology of skin sprays for a better use in clinical dermatology.

Runtime Power Allocation Based on Multi-GPU Utilization in GAMESS

To improve the power consumption of parallel applications at the runtime, modern processors provide frequency scaling and power limiting capabilities. In this work, a runtime strategy is proposed to maximize performance under a given power budget by distributing the available power according to the relative GPU utilization. Time series forecasting methods were used to develop workload prediction models that provide accurate prediction of GPU utilization during application execution. Experiments were performed on a multi-GPU computing platform DGX-1 equipped with eight NVIDIA V100 GPUs used for quantum chemistry calculations in the GAMESS package. For a limited power budget, the proposed strategy may deliver as much as hundred times better GAMESS performance than that obtained when the power is distributed equally among all the GPUs.

Large scavengers are strongly dependent on environmental conditions and carrion distribution and abundance,so season and breeding-related factors may influence the spatial ecology of species such as the Cinereous Vulture(Aegypius monachus),the largest European *** holds one of the biggest populations worldwide,but some aspects of the spatial ecology of the species in this region remain *** this study,17 adult Cinereous Vultures were GPS-tracked in order to study their spatial ecology during the adult *** average monthly home ranges(95%Kernel Density Estimation,KDE)and core areas(50%KDE)were 6543±19,935 km^(2)and 1174±4004 km^(2),*** average monthly home range fidelity ranged between 50 and 73%.Differences in movement-related variables between the seasonal periods(incubation,chick-rearing and non-breeding)were *** the chick-rearing period,the monthly accumulated distance was higher than during the other periods:3316±1108(chick-rearing)vs.1621±622(incubation)vs.1726±1159 km per month(nonbreeding).Additionally,large home range sizes were more frequent during the chick-rearing *** are two likely causes for these seasonal ***,chick-rearing entails a higher energetic expenditure by the parental individuals in foraging activities,so larger movements and foraging areas are expected during this ***,the flight is favoured during spring and summer due to environmental *** chick-rearing and warm months is a great evolutionary advantage for soaring-gliding raptors,as it allows them to cover larger areas with low energy ***,six individuals tagged as nestlings highlight the philopatric behaviour of the species:vultures settle their breeding areas 54±51 km from their natal nest(range=9–138 km).

This review summarizes the rapporteur report on advances in monitoring and forecasting of rainfall associated with tropical cyclones(TCs)and its impact during 2014–18,as presented to the 10th International Workshop on TCs(IWTC-10)held in Bali,Indonesia during 5th–9th December *** physical processes that can modulate TC rainfall distribution,including topography,storm motion,vertical wind shear,and intensity,along with the fundamental physics of rain bands and clouds as simulated by numerical models,diurnal variation of rainfall,and various synoptic and mesoscale features controlling the rainfall distribution are briefly *** to the dynamic core and physical processes in global models are providing useable forecasts nearly up to 7 *** report also summarizes,some tools that have been developed to predict TC *** there is a tendency for operational forecasting centers to utilize multi-model ensemble systems for rainfall forecasting that demonstrate superior performance than individual models,ensemble members,or even single model *** impacts include pluvial and fluvial floods,and *** techniques developed by various forecasting centers to assist in predicting and communicating the impacts associated with these events are also presented in this report.

CO2adsorption on the surface of hydrotalcite-derived mixed oxide catalysts was investigated under low pressure glow discharge plasma in operando conditions via FT-IR *** catalysts were promoted with various transition metal species(Ce, Fe, La, Zr) to influence their physico-chemical *** and Zr species were successfully incorporated into hydrotalcite brucite *** calcination formed a single phase with Ni(Mg, Al)O mixed oxide, while La and Ce species formed separate *** had a consequence in the distribution of surface basic sites as well as in the affinity to CO produced upon CO2dissociation in *** treatment activated the surface of prepared materials and changed their properties via the generation of strong basic sites associated with low coordinated surface oxygen ***, the CO2adsorption capacity of prepared materials increased after plasma treatment.

Intestinal Foxp3+regulatory T cell(Treg)subsets are crucial players in tolerance to microbiota-derived and food-borne antigens,and compelling evidence suggests that the intestinal microbiota modulates their generation,functional specialization,and *** bacterial species and microbiota-derived metabolites,such as short-chain fatty acids(SCFAs),have been reported to promote Treg homeostasis in the intestinal lamina ***,gut-draining mesenteric lymph nodes(mLNs)are particularly efficient sites for the generation of peripherally induced Tregs(pTregs).Despite this knowledge,the direct role of the microbiota and their metabolites in the early stages of pTreg induction within mLNs is not fully ***,using an adoptive transfer-based pTreg induction system,we demonstrate that neither transfer of a dysbiotic microbiota nor dietary SCFA supplementation modulated the pTreg induction capacity of *** mice housed under germ-free(GF)conditions displayed equivalent pTreg induction within *** molecular characterization of these de novo induced pTregs from mLNs by dissection of their transcriptomes and accessible chromatin regions revealed that the microbiota indeed has a limited impact and does not contribute to the initialization of the Treg-specific epigenetic ***,our data suggest that the microbiota is dispensable for the early stages of pTreg induction within mLNs.

The present work illustrates a predictive method, based on graph theory, for different types of energy of subatomic particles, atoms and molecules, to be specific, the mass defect of the first thirteen elements of the periodic table, the rotational and vibrational energies of simple molecules (such as , H2, FH and CO) as well as the electronic energy of both atoms and molecules (conjugated alkenes). It is shown that such a diverse group of energies can be expressed as a function of few simple graph-theoretical descriptors, resulting from assigning graphs to every wave function. Since these descriptors are closely related to the topology of the graph, it makes sense to wonder about the meaning of such relation between energy and topology and suggests points of view helping to formulate novel hypotheses about this relation.

One of the challenges still pending in string theory and other particle physics related fields is the accurate prediction of the masses of the elementary particles defined in the standard model. In this paper an original algorithm to assign graphs to each of these particles is proposed. Based on this mapping, we demonstrate that certain indices associated with the topology of the graph (graph theoretical indices) are very effective in predicting the masses of the particles. Specifically, the spectral moments of the graph adjacency matrix weighted by edge degrees play a key role in the excellent correlations found. Moreover, the same topological pattern is found in other well known quantum systems such as the particle in a box and the vibrational frequencies of diatomic molecules, such as hydrogen. The results shown here open a suggestive pathway for the use of graph-theoretical approaches in predicting properties of elementary particles and other physical systems, which seem to match similar topological patterns.
