Pseudomonas syringae ***(Psa)biovar 3,a virulent,canker-inducing pathogen is an economic threat to the kiwifruit(Actinidia spp.)industry *** commercially grown diploid(2×)*** *** is more susceptible to Psa than tetraploid and hexaploid *** information on the genetic loci modulating Psa resistance in kiwifruit is not *** we report mapping of quantitative trait loci(QTLs)regulating resistance to Psa in a diploid kiwifruit population,derived from a cross between an elite Psa-susceptible‘Hort16A’and a resistant male breeding parent *** high-density genetic maps and intensive phenotyping,we identified a single QTL for Psa resistance on Linkage Group(LG)27 of‘Hort16A’revealing 16–19%phenotypic variance and candidate alleles for susceptibility and resistance at this *** addition,six minor QTLs were identified in P1 on distinct LGs,exerting 4–9%*** in the F1 population is improved by additive effects from‘Hort16A’and P1 QTLs providing evidence that divergent genetic pathways interact to combat the virulent Psa *** different bioassays further identified new QTLs for tissue-specific responses to *** genetic marker at LG27 QTL was further verified for association with Psa resistance in diploid Actinidia chinensis *** analysis of Psa-resistant and susceptible genotypes in field revealed hallmarks of basal defense and provided candidate RNA-biomarkers for screening for Psa resistance in greenhouse conditions.

Robust data evaluating the association of preoperative parameters of the patients with quality of life after radical prostatectomy are *** investigated whether clinical and biological preoperative characteristics of the patients were associated with impaired patient-reported quality of life(QoL)and sexual outcomes 1 year after radical *** evaluated patient-reported outcomes among the 1343 men participating in the AndroCan trial(NCT02235142).QoL and erectile dysfunction(ed)were assessed before and 1 year after radical prostatectomy using validated self-assessment questionnaires(Aging Male's Symptoms[AMS]and the 5-item abridged version of the International Index of Erectile Function[IIEF5]).At baseline,1194 patients(88.9%)accepted to participate.A total of 750(55.8%)patients answered the 1-year postoperative *** of them,only 378(50.4%of responders)provided answers that could be used for *** year after prostatectomy,ed had worsened by 8.0(95%confidence interval[CI]:7.3–8.7;Ped by 2.8(95%CI:1.7–3.8;Ped scores 1 year postsurgery were positively correlated with preoperative age and percentage of fat mass,and negatively correlated with total cholesterol,dehydroepiandrosterone(DHEA),and androstenediol(D5);AMS were poorly correlated with preoperative *** and sexual symptoms significantly worsened after radical *** bioavailable testosterone levels were significantly correlated with smaller changes on AMS somatic subscores *** findings may be used to inform patients with newly diagnosed prostate cancer.

Current available treatment options for erectile dysfunction （ed） are effective but not without failure and/or side effects. Although the development of phosphodiesterase type 5 （PDE5） inhibitors （i.e. sildenafil, tadalafil and vardenafil） has revolutionized the treatment of ed, these oral medications require on-demand access and are not as effective in treating ed related to diabetic, post-prostatectomy and severe veno-occlusive disease states. Improvement in the treatment of ed is dependent on understanding the regulation of human corporal smooth muscle tone and on the identification of relevant molecular targets. Future ed therapies might consider the application of molecular technologies such as gene therapy. As a potential therapeutic tool, gene therapy might provide an effective and specific means for altering intracavernous pressure ＂on demand＂ without affecting resting penile function. However, the safety of gene therapy remains a major hurdle to overcome before being accepted as a mainstream treatment for ed. Gene therapy aims to cure the underlying conditions in ed, including fibrosis. Furthermore, gene therapy might help prolong the efficacy of the PDE5 inhibitors by improving penile nitric oxide bioactivity. It is feasible to apply gene therapy to the penis because of its location and accessibility, low penile circulatory flow in the flaccid state and the presence of endothelial lined （lacunar） spaces. This review provides a brief insight of the current role of gene therapy in the management of ed.

[背景]冬季逆温:温度随着海拔而升高的空气层,会吸引污染物,导致污染物浓度增加。以前的研究已经评估了污染物和哮喘急诊科(ed)就诊之间的相关性,但从未将逆温作为哮喘ed就诊的独立危险因素进行研究。[目的]探讨犹他州盐湖城冬季逆温与哮喘ed就诊的相关性。[方法]收集犹他州盐湖城2003—2004年至2007—2008年冬季因哮喘ed就诊的电子记录以及逆温、气象和空气污染的数据。确定3425名初诊为哮喘的ed哮喘病例,采用时间分层病例交叉设计和条件logistic回归模型计算优势比(ORs)及其95%可信区间(CIs),估计在4d滞后期及长期逆温中哮喘ed就诊率与逆温的相关性;并评估逆温、气象、污染物三者之间的交互作用。[结果]校正露点和平均气温后,与没有逆温的滞后期相比,逆温之前0～3d的哮喘就诊率OR值为1.14(95%CI:1.00～1.30);滞后期逆温天数每增加1d,OR值为1.03(95%CI:1.00～1.07)。只有当PM10、最大值和平均气温高于中位数水平时,才显示出相关性。[结论]冬季逆温与哮喘ed就诊率增加相关。
