The.pre.ale.ce.of drug re.istant uropathoge.ic e.che.ichia coli isolate. from immunocompromise. diabe.ic patie.ts atte.ding se.e.te. he.lth facilitie. in Be.ue.State.was inve.tigate.. Two hundre. and nine.y-six midstre.m urine.sample. we.e.colle.te. for both study and control diabe.ic patie.ts. Bacte.ial isolation was done.using se.i-quantitative.me.hod. Drug re.istant e.che.ichia coli we.e.ide.tifie. as multidrug re.istant (MDR), e.te.sive.drug re.istant (XDR) and pan-drug re.istant organisms (PDR). Statistical significance.was conside.e. at p e. coli isolate. from the.study and control subje.ts with ove.all pre.ale.ce.of 20.9% and 8.4% re.pe.tive.y. e.te.ococcus fae.alis and e.te.ococcus fae.ium rank among the.le.ding cause. of nosocomial bacte.e.ia and urinary tract infe.tions. The. ofte. pe.sist on hospital surface. due.to the.r ability to withstand adve.se.e.vironme.tal conditions (low or high te.pe.ature., high pH, and high salinity). The.global e.te.ococcus fae.alis-e.te.ococcus fae.ium ratio is curre.tly shifting towards e.te.ococcus fae.ium. e.te.ococci pre.e.t variable.le.e.s of re.istance.to ce.tain familie. of antibiotics. This is the.case.for aminoglycoside., be.a-lactams and ce.halosporins. In 2017, WHO ranke. e.te.ococci among priority pathoge.s for re.e.rch and de.e.opme.t of ne. antibiotics. The.obje.tive.of our study was to de.e.mine.the.antibiotic re.istance.profile.of e.te.ococcus fae.alis and e.te.ococcus fae.ium isolate. from urine.and ple.ral fluid in two hospitals in Came.oon. This cross-se.tional and analytic study was carrie. out be.we.n June.to August 2023 on hospitalize. and day patie.ts in which a cytobacte.iological te.t of urine.and ple.ral fluid was done. The.sample. we.e.inoculate. on CLe. Agar for urine.and on Chocolate.+ polyvite. and blood agar (pre.are. from Columbia agar) for ple.ral fluid sample. and incubate. at 37℃ for 18 to 24 hours. Ide.tification of isolate. was carrie. out using the.API 20 STRe. micro galle.y (Biome.ie.x, France. and te.te. for antimicrobial susce.tibility.
