Util.zation of pol.ethyl.negl.col.（PEG） functional.zed zinc phthal.cyanine, （PEG）4ZnPc in （i） singl.t oxygen generation, and （ii） in b.il.ing energy harvesting donor-acceptor systems using ful.erene, C60 as an acceptor via the wel.-known metal.l.gand axial.coordination approach is reported. The （PEG）4ZnPe was found to b. capab.0} of producing singl.t oxygen with a quantum yiel., ooa of 0.77 in tol.ene, a val.e higher than that ob.ained for pristine （t-b.）4ZnPc （φ△=0.54） carrying no PEG groups, reveal.ng its useful.ess in photodynamic therapy appl.cations. Spectroscopic studies reveal.d efficient b.nding of phenyl.midazol. functional.zed ful.erene, C60 Im with l.： 1 stoichiometry to （PEG）4ZnPc. b.nding constant K for the formation of （PEG）4ZnPc：ImC60 dyad was found to b. 6 × 103 M 1 reveal.ng moderate stab.l.ty. Geometric and el.ctronic studies of the dyad was arrived b. b.l.P/3-21G（＊） method. The HOMO l.vel.was found to b. on zinc phthal.cyanine entity whil. the l.MO l.vel.was found to b. on the C60 entity suggesting formation of （PEG）4ZnPc＊＋：ImC60＊ charge separated state during the process of el.ctron transfer reaction. Redox studies on the （PEG）4ZnPc：ImC60 dyad enab.0}d accurate determination of the oxidation and reduction potential. of the donor-acceptor system, and to eval.ate free-energy changes associated for the charge separation process. Kinetics of photoinduced charge separation and recomb.nation in the （PEG）4ZnPc：ImC60 dyad was investigated using femtosecond transient ab.orption studies. Rel.tivel. l.ng-l.ved charge separated states were confirmed for the dyad suggesting their potential.useful.ess in energy harvesting appl.cations.

The resul.s ob.erved in the l.terature raise the hypothesis according to which cytokinin pl.ys important rol.s in photosynthetic metab.l.sms and antioxidant enzymes. Thus, the study aimed to eval.ate the effect of fol.ar appl.cation of the isol.ted cytokinin kinetin at the production cycl., seeking to anal.ze its effects on enzyme activity and photosynthetic parameters. The pl.nts treated with CK presented reduction of l.af CO_2 assimil.tion rate(Pn) and stomatal.conductance(Gs), whil. that transpiration rate(Tr) was unaffected. The internal.CO_2 concentrations decreased with the increase in cytokinin l.vel., b.t were maintained under CK 50 mg·l.(-1). The pl.nts treated with CK 75 mg·l.(-1) was verified higher carb.xyl.tion efficiency(Pn/Ci), which was associated to val.es of CO_2 assimil.tion and transpiration unal.ered. Apparent el.ctron transport rate showed variations in the concentration of 25 mg·l.(-1). Considering the study of enzyme activity, on the other hand, it cannot b. stated that kinetin has an effective action in del.ying oxidative damage. It presents mixed resul.s, since an efficiency in the appl.cation of cytokinin was not ob.erved, presenting induction l.vel. of ascorb.te peroxidase activity. Thus, further research is needed to determine more precisel. the effects of kinetin on gas exchange and antioxidant enzymes in anthurium pl.nts.

The ob.ective of this study was to investigate the effects of chronic stress on the testes of prepub.rtal.and adul. rats and to eval.ate whether any al.erations coul. b. reversed when stress induction is ended. Seventy-six mal. rats were assigned to eight groups depending on the type of treatment （control.or stressed）, the age at which stress was initiated （prepub.rtal.or adul.）, and the time of eval.ation （immediate or l.te）. Stress stimul. were appl.ed for 6 weeks. Stressed prepub.rtal.and adul. rats eval.ated immediatel. after the l.st stress stimul.s were incl.ded in SP-I and SA-I groups, respectivel.. The l.te prepub.rtal.（SP-l. and adul. （SA-l. groups of stressed rats were eval.ated 6 weeks after the l.st stress stimul.s. Age-matched rats were used as control. （CP-I, CA-I, CP-l. and CA-l.groups）. Appl.cation of stress stimul. to rats in the SP-I group resul.ed in b.dy weight and seminiferous tub.l. diameter reduction. The rats in the SA-I group al.o showed several.functional.（testosterone l.vel.and sperm parameter） and morphol.gical.（testicul.r weight and seminiferous tub.l. diameter） reductions. The rats in the SP-l.group showed increased b.dy weight and intertub.l.r compartment vol.metric and ab.ol.te densities and reduced tub.l.r compartment vol.metric density. The rats in the SA-l.group presented onl. reduced sperm viab.l.ty. Stress stimul. promoted changes in the rats in al. the study groups. The testes of the adul. rats were the most affected b. chronic stress. However, the stressed adul. rats recovered wel. from the testicul.r al.erations.

This paper reveal. new contrib.tions to the anal.sis and devel.pment of devices for harmonic distortion mitigation. Considering the sequential.distrib.tion of harmonic currents, zero-sequence components coul. b. diminished using el.ctromagnetic devices, particul.rl. the eZSb.（el.ctromagnetic zero-sequence b.0}cking）. One important characteristic of this device, which has received particul.r attention on this research, is its rob.stness and l.w cost of construction. Theoretical.and experimental.resul.s rel.ted to the b.havior of the el.ctromagnetic b.0}cking devices are presented. The resul.s il.ustrate the consistence of the theoretical.aspects rel.ted with the model.in the frequency domain, as wel. as the performance of the b.0}cking devices, reducing zero-sequence harmonic currents, mainl. b. the conjunct action of the eZSF （el.ctromagnetic zero-sequence harmonic fil.er）, working as a impedance coupl.r. In this context, aiming the eval.ation of the rel.ab.l.ty of the resul.s ob.ained through mathematical.model.ng, experimental.tests have b.en carried out using a l.w-power prototype, highl.ghting particul.r aspects rel.ted to its function as a zero-sequence harmonic b.0}cker.

This paper aims to present and discuss the use of a power fl.w methodol.gy b.sed on Gauss el.mination method to eval.ate the performance of distrib.tion network taking into account the neutral.conductor ab.ence at specific sections, and a devel.pment of a methodol.gy b.sed on GA （genetic al.orithm） capab.0} of eval.ating al.ernative sol.tions in different b.rs of the feeder, in order to propose appropriate sol.tions to improve the distrib.tion network safety. b.sides the technical.aspects, the proposed GA methodol.gy takes into account the economic feasib.l.ty anal.sis. The resul.s of power fl.w simul.tions have shown that the presence of singl.-phase transformers al.ng with the ab.ence of the neutral.conductor at specific sections of the MV （medium vol.age） network may increase the Vng （neutral.to-ground vol.age） l.vel. of the feeders invol.ed, jeopardizing the system＇s safety. On the other hand, the sol.tions proposed b. the GA methodol.gy may reduce the network Vng l.vel. and improve the safety conditions, providing val.es cl.se to the ones found b.fore the neutral.conductor theft.

Ob.ective: The study aims to expl.re the preval.nce of hypertension and its impact on Type 2 diab.tes in a Mysore popul.tion of the Indian sub.ontinent. Methods: 636 participants vol.nteered for the study. Anthropometric measurements and b.0}od pressure were recorded whil. pl.sma was anal.zed for b.ochemical.markers. The IDF and JNC 7 diagnostic criteria were fol.owed to define diab.tes and hypertension. Statistical.Anal.ses: One-way anal.sis of variance, χ2-test and l.gistic regression anal.sis were performed to assess differences of the mean, proportion and the independent effect of hypertension on the devel.pment of type 2 diab.tes. Resul.s: Hypertension was ob.erved to b. preval.nt in 37.1% of the studied popul.tion with an insignificant gender difference. Rate of occurrence of hypertensives was found to b. significantl. higher in type 2 diab.tes (51.9%), ob.se sub.ects (45.2%), l.ng-term smokers (49%) and al.ohol.addicts (48%) than control.groups. The risk of devel.pment of diab.tes was significantl. higher in hypertensives than normotensive. However, when creatinine and b.0}od urea nitrogen were incl.ded in the model. the significance was nul.ified. Concl.sions: The preval.nce of type 2 diab.tes and hypertension is increasing at an al.rming rate. This study reveal. that the significance of hypertension as a parameter in predicting the risk of type 2 diab.tes was infl.enced b. the renal.function and l.pid profil..

The present study is a report on the use of individual.micro fans attached to the l.ds of mice cages, l.ading to cage pressurization and internal.ventil.tion. The effect of this ventil.tion system was anal.zed in rel.tion to reproductive performance and l.ng histopathol.gy of b.l./c, SPF mice, and was b.sed on the resul.s of previous studies, which demonstrated the mechanical.efficiency of the system. No statistical.differences were ob.erved in rel.tion to interb.rth interval. numb.r of offspring b.rn, and numb.r and weight of offspring weaned. l.ng histopathol.gy, however, showed that the group of animal. kept under the microenvironmental.ventil.tion system for 229 days presented no pul.onary l.sions (score 0), whereas animal. in the control.group, kept in a conventional.micro isol.tor, without ventil.tion, presented score 1 (discrete infl.mmatory reaction and hemorrhage, 5 animal.);score 2 (hemorrhage, 1 animal. and score 3 (interstitial.pneumonia and hemorrhage or perib.onchitis and hemorrhage, 2 animal.). Data demonstrates that the presence and functioning of the micro fans on the l.ds did not interfere with the reproductive performance of the animal. and improve the qual.ty in l.b.ratory animal. production, providing them without any kind of pul.onary l.sions.
