The UV-A and UV-B wavelengths of solar radiation may seriously reduce viability of Metarhizium anisopliae conidia,a fungus used extensively in Brazil for insect pest *** conidial tolerances to UV-A and UV-B radiation were studied for one isolate(IBCB 425) commercially available product produced on rice *** or oil emulsion conidial suspensions were irradiated for 0(control),2,or 3 h using the solar simulator filtered with diacetate filter to remove UV-C radiation which afforded 652 mW·m-2 in the spectral range of 280～370 *** UV tolerance was based on conidial germination(viability) and virulence to Diatraea saccharalis *** formulated with oil emulsion had higher survival after 3 h of UV exposure,but the virulence of the conidia previously exposed to 2 h of UV radiation were similar when oil formulated or *** mortality of *** caterpillars exposed to non-UV-irradiated conidia was greater than that of larvae exposed to irradiated conidia,and the LT50 values were lower for the non-irradiated suspensions than for those *** apparent reduction in virulence was directly related reduction in viability or delay of germination of UV-irradiated conidia.

The Mormon cricket (MC),Anabrus simplex (Orthoptera:Tettigoniidae),has a long and negative history with agriculture in the western states of the USA where MC often migrates in large groups and causes significant damage to forage plants and cultivated *** this review, virulence to MC of isolates of the insect-pathogenic fungus Metarhizium anisopliae varieties acridum and anisopliae were compared in an effort to identify isolates with promise for use as MC biological control *** of the isolates tested induced 100% or nearly 100% mortality by six days post application of the fungal *** for new Metarhizium isolates with high heat and UV-B tolerance included isolation fungi from field-caught MC and grasshopper after they died in the laboratory and culturing fungi from soil samples collected from numerous western USA *** survey was preceded by development of a dodine based selective medium that,at 0.002% active ingredient,permitted growth of *** ***,but inhibited most contaminating *** *** *** isolates examined to date have much higher tolerance to heat and UV-B irradiation than *** *** isolates,and this may be critical to successful field *** variety acridum has not yet been found in the USA,so our search for such isolates *** new *** *** and Beauveria *** found,and the Metarhizium isolates are being characterized as to stress tolerance and virulence to *** includes comparisons of new and pre-existing Metarhizium isolates by amplified fragment-length polymorphism (AFLP) ***, experiments on MC developmental biology were conducted to gather data needed to develop a degree day model and to establish laboratory colonies of MC.

The conidial tolerance of Metarhizium anisopliae *** isolate ARSeF 2575 to UV-B irradiation is greatly influenced by growth-environment *** this review,we report high variability in conidial UV-B tolerance in response to altered culture *** produced on insect cadavers[Zophobas morio(Coleoptera)or Galleria mellonella(Lepidoptera)] had low tolerance to UV-B radiation;and conidia produced on potato dextrose agar supplemented with yeast extract(PDAY)had medium UV-B tolerance;whereas conidia produced on a minimal medium without any carbon source(MM),on MM with a non-preferred carbon source such as lactose(=MML),on PDAY plus 1 M naCl or KCl,or PDBY with high alkalinity had the highest UV-B *** of the above conditions that induced high UV-B tolerance,however,also greatly reduced conidial *** between stress tolerance and conidial production,particularly with conidia produced under osmotic and nutritive stress,point out that the benefits of producing very tolerant conidia have the enormous cost of low conidial *** under visible light also greatly improved conidial UV-B tolerance,but light did not negatively influence conidial ***,culture on rich media under light is proposed as the most promising approach to producing conidia with improved UV-B tolerance for biological control of pest insects in agriculture.

effect of Cyclooxygenase-2 Blockade on Renal Hypertrophy Development during early Diabetes Mellitus

Diabetes mellitus is the leading cause of diabetic nephropathy;the early phase of diabetes is associated with kidney growth and hyperfiltration;several factors modulate these changes, among them, prostaglandins and angiotensin II. Previous studies have shown that cyclooxygenase-2 is implicated in experimental models of diabetes. The aim of this work was to study the effect of celecoxib treatment on renal hypertrophy development in early diabetes mellitus. In our rats with early streptozotocin-induced diabetes there was renal hypertrophy, and increased renal expression of cyclooxygenase-2, AT1 receptor, and transforming growth factor-β1. Treatment with the selective cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitor celecoxib reduced the urinary excretion of prostaglandins such as prostaglandin e2, 6-keto prostaglandin F1α, and thromboxane B2. Kidney hypertrophy was reversed by the treatment, and the renal expression of cyclooxygenase-2, AT1 receptor, and transforming growth factor-β1 decreased. The renoprotective effects of celecoxib were independent of the changes in plasma glucose levels. These results confirm that cyclooxygenase-2 inhibition in rats with streptozotocin-induced diabetes decrease renal hypertrophy;this effect in turn, may be mediated by reduction of the expression of AT1 receptors and transforming growth factor-b1 in the kidney.

Just in Time education: educational Technology for Professional’s Health

Objective: Verify if the educational technology based on Just in Time education is relevant to Permanent Health education in Workers’ Health. Method: This study is exploratory and descriptive qualitative research. Were performed semi-structured interviews were carried out with the worker’s health team of a large company from the South of Brazil region. The collected data were carried out in 2021, between January and May, through the virtual environment, with eight participants from the Work Health Team of eletrosul, located in Florianópolis, who agreed to participate in the research by signing the Free and Informed Consent Term, in accordance with the data saturation criterion. The research was approved by the ethics Committee (n. 4079133) and the data were submitted to Bardin for thematic content analysis. Result: The results are presented from three categories: 1) expansion and inclusion in Permanent education needs;2) Tools adopted in educational processes;3) Just in Time education: educational technology for workers’ health. Conclusion: The active methodology Just in Time education helps the processes of Permanent education in Health, which moved from a face-to-face model to e-learning and required the knowledge renewal in the technology area to maintain efficient communication. This methodology allows quick and accurate access to information from a reliable, adequate, and up-to-date source, causing a positive impact on the qualified and problem-solving work process, in line with the needs of the employer and the company. Therefore, Just in Time education can provide standardization, organization, and informational and operational quality necessary in this context, in addition to serving as an indicator and data generator (management tool).

Obtaining Bioethanol through Hydrolytic Treatment of Agro-Industrial Banana Residues

The banana is a food of great importance and it is consumed in almost the entire world. However, its harvest generates large quantities of mostly lignocellulosic waste, which can be used for the production of biofuels such as bioethanol. In this work, the potential for bioethanol production from agro-industrial plantain crop residues was evaluated with different operating conditions. A 24?experimental design was used, having as study variables: time of hydrolysis, pH of hydrolysis, concentration time, and fermentation time. The samples used were scraps consisting of a mixture of stems, leaves, and banana peels. The bioethanol obtained was characterized by physicochemical properties such as density, refractive index, and FTIR. As a result, it was obtained that the volume of bioethanol represented higher yields;using naOH as a hydrolyzing agent, with hydrolysis time of 30 minutes, high fermentation time, and low concentrations. The chemical characterization of banana agro-industrial waste indicated that, the raw material could be considered as a potential source for bioethanol production, since it has a high content of cellulose.

The complete and incomplete fusion cross sections for ^(6)Li+^(209)Bi were measured using the in-beamγ-ray method around the Coulomb *** cross sections of(deuteron captured)incomplete fusion(ICF)products were re-quantified experimentally for this reaction *** results reveal that the ICF cross section is equivalent to that of complete fusion(CF)above the Coulomb barrier and dominant near or below the Coulomb barrier.A theoretical calculation based on the continuum discretized coupled channel(CDCC)method was performed for the aforementioned CF and ICF cross sections;the result is consistent with the *** universal fusion function(UFF)was also compared with the measured CF cross section for different barrier parameters,demonstrating that the CF suppression factor is significantly influenced by the choice of potential,which can reflect both dynamic and static effects of breakup on the fusion process.
