Background:Patients with burns present with different clinical features depending on the types of burn injury and burn patients with lower levels of vitamin D have worse prognoses and more *** study aims to investigate the association between vitamin D levels and burn factors according to each burn type in relation to early intensive rehabilitation therapy initiated for inpatients with ***:In this retrospective study,we enrolled 757 of 1716 inpatients who underwent rehabilitative therapy between May 2013 and April *** types were divided into flame burn,electrical burn and other burns,including scalding,contact and chemical ***,burned body surface area(BSA),wound healing time(WHT),length of hospital stay(LOS)and body mass index were analysed between vitamin D deficient and non-deficient patient groups using Student’s ttests,or Mann-Whitney U test and among three burn types using one-way analysis of variance(ANOVA)or Kruskal-Wallis one-way *** relationship between vitamin D levels and burn factors was evaluated using Pearson’s or Spearman’s correlation coefficient tests,and multiple linear regression analysis in different burn ***:In total,88.9%patients were vitamin D deficient,and these patients had a larger burned BSA(p=0.015)and longer WHT and LOS(all p<0.001)than non-deficient *** BSA,WHT and vitamin D levels showed significant differences in their mean values according to three burn types(all p<0.001).WHT was a communal factor significantly associated with vitamin D levels in all three burn types(p<0.05).The WHT cut-off points to predict vitamin D deficiency were 55 days for flame burn(p<0.001)and 62.5 days for electrical burn(p=0.001).Conclusions:WHTacross all three burn typeswas a common factor associated with vitamin D levels for inpatients with burns who had undergone rehabilitative *** burn patients with vitamin D deficiency,even those with a low burned BSA percentage,showed prol

AIM： To evaluate the efficacy and complications of stereotactic body radiotherapy in localized paraaortic lymph node recurrence from colorectal cancer. METHODS： From 2003 to 2009, 7 patients with paraaortic lymph node recurrence （1-3 lesions） from colorectal cancer were treated with stereotactic body radiotherapy. Total gross tumor volumes ranged from 4 to 40 mL. The doses were escalated from 36 Gy/patient to 51 Gy/patient and were delivered in 3 fractions. RESULTS： One and 3 year overall survival rates were 100% and 71.4%, respectively, and median survival was 37 mo. Grade IV intestinal obstruction was reported in 1 of 7 patients. This patient received 48 Gy in 3 fractions with a maximum point dose to the intestine of 53 Gy and V45Gy = 3.6 mL. However, 6 patients received an intestinal maximum point dose of 〈 51 Gy and V45Gy of 〈 1 mL, and did not develop any severe complications. CONCLUSION： This pilot study suggests selected paraaortic lymph node recurrence （1-3 closed lesions） that failed to respond to chemotherapy can be potentially salvaged by stereotactic body radiotherapy.

AIM:To examine the clinicopathologic features of elderly patients with gastric carcinoma and to investigate the relationship between prognosis and ***: We reviewed the hospital records of 2 014patients with gastric carcinoma retrospectively to compare the clinicopathologic findings in elderly (age ＞70 years) and young (age ＜36 years) patients during the period from 1986 to 2000 in a tertiary referral center in Gwangju, Korea. Overall survival was the main outcome ***: Of the 2 014 patients, 194 (9.6%) were in the elderly group and 137 (6.8%) were in the young *** elderly and young patients had similar distributions with respect to depth of invasion, nodal involvement, hepatic metastasis, peritoneal dissemination, tumor stage at the initial diagnosis, and type of surgery. Synchronous multiple carcinomas were found in 14/194 (7.2%) of the elderly group and 4/137 (2.9%) of the young group (P＜0.05). Using the Borrmann classification, type Ⅳ was more frequent in the young patients than in the elderly patients (P＜0.05).Significantly more elderly patients had a well or moderately differentiated histology, and more young patients had a poorly differentiated histology and signet ring cell carcinoma (P＜0.001). The 5-year survival rates of elderly and young patients did not differ statistically (52.8% vs 46.5%,P = 0.5290). Multivariate analysis showed that the histologic type, nodal involvement and operative curability were significant prognostic factors, and age itself was not an independent prognostic factor of survival for elderly gastric carcinoma ***: Elderly patients with gastric carcinoma do not have a worse prognosis than young patients. The important prognostic factor is whether the patients undergo a curative resection.

There have been few studies on the association between vitamin D levels and gastric cancer in Asian populations,but no studies have been performed on the interactions between vitamin D intake and polymorphisms in the vitamin D *** effects of vitamin D intake,vitamin D related genetic polymorphisms,and their association with the incidence of gastric cancer were investigated in a hospital case-control study,including 715 pairs of newly diagnosed gastric cancer patients and controls matched for age and *** between vitamin D intake and plasma vitamin D concentrations were also assessed in a subset of *** statistically significant difference was observed in the dietary intake of vitamin D between the patients and controls,nor were there any evident associations between vitamin D intake and risk of gastric cancer in multivariate *** D intake significantly correlated with the circulating 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels,but not with the active form of the vitamin,1,25-dihydroxyvitamin *** were no statistically significant interactions between vitamin D intake,and VDR or TXNIP *** study suggests that dietary vitamin D intake is not associated with gastric cancer risk,and the genetic polymorphisms of vitamin D-related genes do not modulate the effect of vitamin D with respect to gastric carcinogenesis.

The CIM （common information model） is an abstract information model that can be used to model an electrical network and various equipments used on the network. By using a common model, utilities and vendors can reduce their integration costs, which should allow more resources to be applied toward increased functionality for managing and optimizing the electrical system. As a part of smart grid, the SPG （smart power grid） was built on Jeju Island. The SPG consists of IDAS （intelligent distribution automation system）, substation automation system, intelligent transmission system, and active telemetrics system. To integrate these systems which have different operating systems and platforms CIM standard was used. But IDAS has many functions and advanced algorithms not defined in CIM. In this paper, the authors introduce how to develop and extend the CIM model for managing the IDAS.

We report our experience with a synchronous case of gastrointestinal stromal tumor(GIST) and intraductal papillary neoplasm of the bile duct(IPNB) in anelderly woman with neurofibromatosis type 1(NF-1). A 72-year-old woman presented with a 2-mo history of right upper abdominal pain unrelated to diet and indigestion. Fourteen years earlier, she had been diagnosed with NF-1, which manifested as café au lait spots and multiple nodules on the skin. Computed tomography(CT) revealed a multilocular low-density mass with septation, and mural nodules in the right hepatic lobe, as well as a 1.7-cm-sized well-demarcated enhancing mass in the third portion of the duodenum. The patient subsequently underwent right hepatectomy and duodenal wedge resection. We present here the first report of a case involving a synchronous IPNB and GIST in a patient with NF-1. Tubulovillous adenomas are common in the colon and rectum, but are rare in the common bile duct. Biliary adenomas may produce obstructive jaundice, which can be easily confused with a malignant neoplasm or stone. We report a case of a carcinoma in situ arising in a tubulovillous adenoma of the distal common bile duct causing obstructive jaundice. A 55-year-old male presented with a 10-d history of pruritus and progressive jaundice. Abdominal sonography and computed tomography showed a mass in the distal common bile duct. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography showed luminal narrowing of the bile duct due to a polypoid mass. Positron emission tomography demonstrated no abnormal uptake. It was thought that this mass was a malignant tumor, thus a pylorus-preserving panceaticoduodenectomy was performed. The final pathology showed a tubulovillous adenoma with carcinoma in situ of the distal common bile duct. At follow-up 8 mo later, endoscopy showed multiple polyps in the rectum, colon and stomach. The polyps were removed by endoscopic mucosal resection and shown to be tubular adenomas with high grade dysplasia. Biliary adenomas require careful follow-up for early detection of recurrence and malignant transformation.

A solar-driven photoelectrochemical(PEC)cell is emerging as one of the promising clean hydrogen generation *** of semiconductor heterojunctions and surface morphologies of photoelectrodes in a PEC cell has been a primitive approach to boost its *** study presents that a molybdenum disulfide(MoS_(2))nanoflakes photoanode on 3-dimensional(3D)porous carbon spun fabric(CSF)as a substrate effectively enhances hydrogen generations due to sufficiently enlarged surface ***_(2)is grown on CSFs utilizing a hydrothermal *** three different MoS_(2)coating morphologies depending on the amount of MoS_(2)precursor and hydrothermal growth time,film shape MoS_(2)on CSFs had the largest surface area,exhibiting the highest photocurrent density of 26.48 mA/cm^(2)and the highest applied bias photon-to-current efficiency(ABPE)efficiency of 5.32%at 0.43 ***,with a two-step growth method of sputtering and a subsequent hydrothermal coating,continuous TiO_(2)/MoS_(20 heterojunctions on a porous CSF further promoted the photoelectrochemical performances due to their optimized bandgap *** surface area,enhanced charge transfer,and utilization of visible light enable a highly efficient MoS_(2)/TiO_(2)/CSF photoanode with a photocurrent density of 33.81 mA/cm^(2)and an ABPE of 6.97%at 0.87 *** hydrogen generation amount of the PEC cell with MoS_(2)/TiO_(2)/CSF photoanode is 225.4μmol/L after light irradiation of 60 s.
