AIM： To investigate the prognostic role of thymidylate synthase （TS） and thymidine phosphorylase （TP） mRNA levels in T3 or T4 gastric cancer treated with 5-fluorouraci-based adjuvant chemotherapy. METHODS： Fifty-one patients with T3 or T4 gastric cancer received systemic 5-fluorouraci-based adjuvant chemotherapy, and intratumoral expression of TS and TP in 51 gastric cancer tissue samples was tested by realtime quantitative PCR.RESULTS： The median disease-free survival （DFS） time was 10.2 mo in the patients. There were no significant differences in DFS between the groups with high and low levels of TP. However, the group with low level of TS had a longer DFS （14.4 mo vs 8.3 mo, P = 0.017）. The median overall survival （OS） time was 18.5 mo, and there were significant differences in OS between the groups with high and low levels of TS or TP （for TS, 17.0 mo vs 21.3 mo, P = 0.010; for TP, 16.6 mo vs 22.5 too, P = 0.009）. Moreover, the coupled low expression of these two genes was strongly associated with a longer survival time of patients as compared with that of a single gene.CONCLUSION： Expression of TS and TP mRNA is a useful predictive parameter for the survival of postoperative gastric cancer patients after 5-fluorouracilbased adjuvant chemotherapy.

C-type natriuretic peptide （CNP） is a newly discovered type of local regulatory factor that mediates its biological effects through the specific, membrane-bound natriuretic peptide receptor-B （NPR-B）. Recent studies have established that CNP is closely related to male reproductive function. The aims of this study were to determine the distribution of CNP/NPR-B in human ejaculated spermatozoa through different methods （such as immunolocalization, real time polymerase chain reaction and Western Blot）, and then to evaluate the influence of CNP on sperm function in vitro, such as motility and acrosome reaction. Human semen samples were collected from consenting donors who met the criteria of the World Health Organization for normozoospermia. Our results show that the specific receptor NPR-B of CNP is localized in the acrosomal region of the head and the membrane of the front-end tail of the sperm, and there is no signal of CNP in human sperm. Compared with the control, CNP can induce a significant dose-dependent increase in spermatozoa motility and acrosome reaction. In summary, CNP/NPR-B can affect sperm motility and acrosome reaction, thus regulating the reproductive function of males. CNP may be a new key factor in regulating sperm function.

Na-ion O3-type layered oxides are prospective cathodes for Na-ion batteries due to high energy density and ***,such cathodes usually suffer from phase transitions,sluggish kinetics and air instability,making it difficult to achieve high performance solid-state sodium-ion ***,the high-entropy design and Li doping strategy alleviate lattice stress and enhance ionic conductivity,achieving high-rate performance,air stability and electrochemically thermal stability for Na_(0.95)Li_(0.06)Ni_(0.25)Cu_(0.05)Fe_(0.15)Mn_(0.49)O_(2).This cathode delivers a high reversible capacity(141 mAh g^(−1)at 0.2C),excellent rate capability(111 mAh g^(−1)at 8C,85 mAh g^(−1)even at 20C),and long-term stability(over 85%capacity retention after 1000 cycles),which is attributed to a rapid and reversible O3–P3 phase transition in regions of low voltage and suppresses phase ***,the compound remains unchanged over seven days and keeps thermal stability until 279℃.Remarkably,the polymer solid-state sodium battery assembled by this cathode provides a capacity of 92 mAh g^(−1)at 5C and keeps retention of 96%after 400 *** strategy inspires more rational designs and could be applied to a series of O3 cathodes to improve the performance of solid-state Na-ion batteries.

C-type natriuretic peptide （CNP） is a 22-amino acid peptide and act as a local paracrine or autocrine regulator. There is growing evidence that ChIP is involved in male reproductive processes. To investigate the role of CNPduring spermatogenesis, we measured the mRNA expression of CNPand its specific membrane-bound natriuretic peptide receptor-B （NPR-B） using real-time RT-PCR in the testes of normal rats on different postnatal days. After that spermatogenesis dysfunction model induced by ornidazole was established with the aim to study the correlation of CNPwith spermatogenic dysfunction. Then, Sertoli cells from 18- to 22-day-old healthy male rats were cultured in the presence of different CNPconcentrations （1 ×10-6, 1×10-7 and1×10-8 mol l-1）, and the mRNA expression levels of *** protein, inhibin B and transferrin were examined at 0 min, 30 min, 1 h, 2 h, 4 h, 8 h, 12 h, 24 h and 48 h. During the postnatal development of rat testes, the highest mRNA expression levels of CNPand NPR-B were found at postnatal Do, and the levels then declined gradually, with a second ChIPpeak at postnatal D35. In the ornidazole-induced infertile rat testes, CIVPgene expression was lower than in the uninduced rats （P〈0.05）, while IVPR-Bgene expression was greater （P〈0.05）. In cultured Sertoli cells, supplementation with CNP stimulated the gene expression of androgen-binding pmteirginhibin B/transferrin, particularly at 12 h, and 1× 10-7 mol l-1 CNP had the highest upregulation effect. The gene expression levels of CNPIIVPR-B in rat testes at different postnatal stages and in infertile rat testes indicated that CNP may participate in the physiology and/or pathology related to spermatogenesis. Moreover, ChIP regulated endocrine function in Sertoli cells. Taken together, these results showed that CNP is closely tied to spermatogenesis.

Polymer dielectrics with a high energy density and an available energy storage capacity have been playing an important role in advanced electronics and power systems. Nevertheless, the use of polymer dielectrics in harsh environments is limited by their low energy density at high temperatures. Herein, zirconium dioxide(ZrO_(2)) nanoparticles were decorated with amino group utilizing 4,4-methylenebis(phenyl isocyanate)(AMEO) and successfully incorporated into polyetherimide(PEI) matrix. The dielectric properties, breakdown strength, and energy storage performances of PEI/ZrO_(2)-AMEO nanocomposites were investigated from 25 ℃ to 150 ℃. It is found that the combination of moderate bandgap ZrO_(2) with modest dielectric constant and polar groups at interface with deep trap can offer an available strategy to simultaneously increase the dielectric constant and breakdown strength of polymer dielectrics. As a result, the composites containing ZrO_(2)-AMEO exhibit excellent energy storage performance at elevated temperatures. Specially, the PEI-based composites with 3 vol% ZrO_(2)-AMEO display a maximum discharged energy density(U_(d)) of 3.1 J/cm^(3) at 150 ℃, presenting 90% higher than that of neat PEI. This study may help to better develop the polymer-based dielectric composite applied at elevated temperatures.

To improve the sludge conditioning efficiency without increasing the ozone dose,an in-situ sludge reduction process based on Mn^(2+)-catalytic ozonation conditioning was *** ozone conditioning alone as a control,a lab-scale sequencing batch reactor coupled with ozonated sludge recycle was evaluated for its operating performance at an ozone dose of 75 mg O_(3)/g VSS and 1.5 mmol/L Mn^(2+)*** results showed a 39.4%reduction in MLSS and an observed sludge yield of 0.236 kg MLSS/kg COD for the O_(3)+Mn^(2+)group compared to the O_(3)group (15.3%and 0.292 kg MLSS/kg COD),accompanied by better COD,NH_(4)^(+)-N,TN and TP removal,improved effluent SS and limited impact on excess sludge ***,activity tests,BIOLOG ECO microplates and 16S rRNA sequencing were applied to elucidate the changing mechanisms of Mn^(2+)-catalytic ozonation related to microbial action:(1) Dehydrogenase activity reached a higher peak.(2) Microbial utilization of total carbon sources had an elevated effect,up to approximately 18%,and metabolic levels of six carbon sources were also increased,especially for sugars and amino acids most pronounced.(3) The abundance of Defluviicoccus under the phylum Proteobacteria was enhanced to 12.0%and dominated in the sludge,they had strong hydrolytic activity and metabolic *** bacteria of the genus Ferruginibacter also showed an abundance of 7.6%,they contributed to the solubilization and reduction of sludge *** results could guide researchers to further reduce ozonation conditioning costs,improve sludge management and provide theoretical support.
