Accelerated tooth movement in Rsk2-deficient mice with impaired cementum formation

Coffin–Lowry–Syndrome(CLS)is a X-linked mental retardation characterized by skeletal dysplasia and premature tooth *** and others have previously demonstrated that the ribosomal S6 kinase RSK2,mutated in CLS,is essential for bone and cementum formation;however,it remains to be established whether RSK2 plays also a role in mechanically induced bone remodeling during orthodontic tooth movement(OTM).We,therefore,performed OTM in wild-type(WT)mice and Rsk2-deficient mice using Nitinol tension springs that were fixed between the upper left molars and the *** untreated contralateral molars served as internal *** 12 days of OTM,the jaws were removed and examined by micro-computed tomography(μCT),decalcified histology,and *** analysis of the untreated teeth confirmed that the periodontal phenotype of Rsk2-deficient mice is characterized by alveolar bone loss and hypoplasia of root *** of OTM usingμCT revealed that OTM was more than two-fold faster in Rsk2-deficient mice as compared to *** also observed that OTM caused alveolar bone loss and root resorptions in WT and Rsk2-deficient ***,quantification of these orthodontic side effects revealed no differences between WT and Rsk2-deficient *** together,Rsk2 loss-of-function accelerates OTM in mice without causing more side effects.

Butein,a rare chalcone found in the toxic plant Toxicodendron vernicifluum,has been shown to regulate glucose homeostasis via inhibition of the nuclear factor kappa-B kinase subunit beta(IKKβ)/nuclear factor kappa B(NF-κB)pathway in the ***,we investigated whether the nonpoisonous plant Dahlia pinnata could be a source of butein as a potential treatment for type 2 diabetes(T2D).In mice fed a high-fat diet(HFD)to induce glucose intolerance,an oral *** petal extract improved glucose tolerance at doses of 3.3 mg/kg body weight and 10 mg/kg body ***,this effect was not mediated by butein alone but by butein combined with the closely related flavonoids,sulfuretin and/or ***,the extract improved systemic insulin *** of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase to block insulin signaling in the brain abrogated the glucoregulatory effect of the orally administered *** extract reinstated central insulin signaling and normalized astrogliosis in the hypothalamus of HFD-fed *** NF-κB reporter zebrafish to determine IKKβ/NF-κB activity,a potent anti-inflammatory action of the extract was found.A randomized controlled crossover clinical trial on participants with predia-betes or T2D confirmed the safety and efficacy of the extract in *** conclusion,we identified an extract from the flower petals of *** as a novel treatment option for T2D,potentially targeting the central regulation of glucose homeostasis as a root cause of the disease.

Ornamental Rock Waste Application for Soil Remineralization

This study consists in the investigation of the application of ornamental rock tailings applied in remineralization in the Brazilian soil through the rocking *** to the Brazilian dependence on the importation of agricultural inputs,the use of the method aims beyond improving the physical and chemical properties of the soil,supplying the demand for such data,and in return to give an adequate end to pollutant *** tailings have chemical characteristics that are of great importance for soil *** methodology employed was divided into three stages,the first one was the physicochemical characterization of the rock dust,followed by the characterization of the soil experimented and the cultivation of the plant species Phaseolus *** results obtained so far showed favorable results since the characteristics obtained through the physicochemical analyses were compatible with those suitable for the soil,after the application of the powder,which had its high pH and which proved that the tailings corrected the soil acidity of the sample in question,placing it at an ideal level for the cultivation of new species.
