The overall purpose of this paper is to post-evaluate the predictability of Hurricane Florence using the Advanced Research Weather Research Forecast (WRF) (ARW) version of a m.soscale m.del. This was perform.d over the period from.0000 UTC 13 Septem.er 2018 through 0000 UTC 18 Septem.er 2018. The WRF ARW core resolution used here was the 27-km.grid spacing chosen to in order to balance finer resolution against in house processing tim. and storage. The large-scale analysis showed that a change in the Northern Hem.sphere flow regim., especially the flow in the western part of the Northern Hem.sphere m.y have contributed partly to the reduced forward speed of the tropical cyclone. In order to m.asure the predictability of a system. we will use different convective and boundary layer schem.s initialized from.the sam. conditions. The results dem.nstrated that the sign of the local IRE tendency was sim.lar to that of the Northern Hem.sphere Integrated Enstrophy. The results also showed that when the boundary layer, convective, and cloud m.crophysical schem.s of the m.del were varied, the areal coverage of heavy precipitation of Florence was under-forecast by approxim.tely 10% or m.re, and the heaviest am.unts were under-forecast by an average of about 20%.

The m.nim.m.fluidization velocity(U_(m.))is a key param.ter for the scale-up of inverse liquid-solid flu-idized *** predictions using com.on correlations were com.ared against experim.ntal m.nim.m.fluidization velocity m.asurem.nts of low density(28-638 kg/m.(3)),0.80-1.13 m. Styrofoam.particles in a fluidized bed with a height of 4.5 m.and 0.2 m.*** average absolute relative deviation for the predicted m.nim.m.fluidization velocity for particles below 300 kg/m.(3) was above 40%using the studied com.on correlations.A m.dified Wen and Yu correlation was thus proposed based on novel and past m.asurem.nts with low-density and sm.ll-diam.ter particles,expanding the range for predicting U_(m.).The new correlation predicted U_(m.) with deviations below 15%for ST028,ST122 and *** m.dified correlation also im.roved U_(m.) predictions for com.arable particles from.a previous study,dem.nstrating its validity for a larger range of low-density particles.

Isotropy in m.crostructure and m.chanical properties rem.ins a challenge for laser powder bed fusion(LPBF)processed m.terials due to the epitaxial growth and rapid cooling in *** this study,a high-strength TiB_(2)/Al-Cu com.osite with random.texture was successfully fabricated by laser powder bed fusion(LPBF)using pre-doped TiB_(2)/Al-Cu com.osite powder.A series of advanced characterisation techniques,including synchrotron X-ray tom.graphy,correlative focussed ion beam.scanning electron m.croscopy(FIB-SEm.,scanning transm.ssion electron m.croscopy(STEm.,and synchrotron in situ X-ray diffraction,were applied to investigate the defects and m.crostructure of the as-fabricated TiB_(2)/Al-Cu com.osite across m.ltiple length *** study showed ultra-fine grains with an average grain size of about 0.86μm.and a random.texture was form.d in the as-fabricated condition due to rapid solidification and the TiB_(2)particles prom.ting heterogeneous *** yield strength and total elongation of the as-fabricated com.osite were 317 m.a and 10%,*** contributions of fine grains,solid solutions,dislocations,particles,and Guinier-Preston(GP)zones were *** was found to be initiated from.the largest lack-of-fusion pore,as revealed by in situ synchrotron tom.graphy during tensile *** situ synchrotron diffraction was used to characterise the lattice strain evolution during tensile loading,providing im.ortant data for the developm.nt of crystal-plasticity m.dels.

The present study aim.d to assess the m.lecular profiles of subepithelial connective tissue grafts(CTGs)obtained at different locations and depths in the hum.n ***-four CTGs belonging to anterior deep(AD),anterior superficial(AS),posterior deep(PD),and posterior superficial(PS)groups were subjected to RNA-Sequencing and their transcriptom.s were analyzed *** correlations characterizing the CTG groups were validated by cell biological experim.nts using prim.ry hum.n palatal fibroblasts(HPFs)extracted from.the CTGs.A clearly m.re pronounced location-dependent than depth-dependent difference between the grafts,with a m.nim.l num.er of genes(4)showing no dependence on the location,was ***,endothelial,and m.nocytic cell m.gration was strongly(Pm.tif chem.kine ligands as well as significantly(Pm.unom.dulatory phenotype for AD-and *** growth factor gene expression and significantly activated(Pm.A-CTGs im.lied their involvem.nt in cell survival,proliferation,and *** collagen-rich expression profile contributing to high m.chanical stability,increased osteogenesis-related gene expression,and strongly activated(Pm.d1/5/8 signaling characterized HPFs originating from.*** present data indicate that in hum.ns,differences between palatal CTGs harvested from.different locations and depths appear to be location-rather than *** findings provide the basis for future personalization of the therapeutic strategy by selecting an optim.l graft type depending on the clinical indications.

Buried bum.er syndrom.(BBS) is an uncom.on but serious com.lication of percutaneous endoscopic gastrostom.. It involves the internal fixation device, or "bum.er", m.grating into the gastric wall and subsequent m.cosal overgrowth. We described a case series of four patients with BBS treated with a novel endoscopic technique using a Hook Knife between June 2016 and February 2017. The Hook Knife is a rotating L-shaped cutting wire designed for hooking tissue and pulling it away from.the gastric wall towards the lum.n. The technique was successful in all four cases with no com.lications. Each patient was discharged on the day of treatm.nt. The Hook Knife is a m.noeuvrable, safe and effective device for endoscopic rem.val of buried bum.ers and could avoid surgery in a high risk group of patients. To our knowledge this technique has not been described previously. We suggest that this technique should be added to the treatm.nt algorithm. for m.naging BBS.

Perform.nce of a data-driven technique applied to changes in wave height and its effect on beach response

In this study the m.dium.term.response of beach profiles was investigated at two sites： a gently sloping sandy beach and a steeper m.xed sand and gravel beach. The form.r is the Duck site in North Carolina, on the east coast of the USA, which is exposed to Atlantic Ocean swells and storm.waves, and the latter is the m.lford-on-Sea site at Christchurch Bay, on the south coast of England, which is partially sheltered from.Atlantic swells but has a directionally bim.dal wave exposure. The data sets com.rise detailed bathym.tric surveys of beach profiles covering a period of m.re than 25 years for the Duck site and over 18 years for the m.lford-on-Sea site. The structure of the data sets and the data-driven m.thods are described. Canonical correlation analysis （CCA） was used to find linkages between the wave characteristics and beach profiles. The sensitivity of the linkages was investigated by deploying a wave height threshold to filter out the sm.ller waves increm.ntally. The results of the analysis indicate that, for the gently sloping sandy beach, waves of all heights are im.ortant to the m.rphological response. For the m.xed sand and gravel beach, filtering the sm.ller waves im.roves the statistical fit and it suggests that low-height waves do not play a prim.ry role in the m.dium.term.m.rohological resoonse, which is prim.rily driven by the interm.ttent larger storm.waves.
