Our understanding of the surrounding world,from friction to the origin of life,depends on how we imagine the contact interaction of condensed bodies.What are the forces acting in contact with solids?Do they attract(adhesive)or repel(dehesive)?Theory and research at the atomic–molecular level have shown that the force are adhesive,but everyday experiences cast doubt on this conclusion.This article addresses this issue by considering the mistakes made in experimental and theoretical tribology and surface physics.Taking into account the theories of hybridization and dehybridization of electron orbitals and valence bonds,the views on the structure of the surfaces of condensed bodies and the force arising during contact interaction are revised.The influence of van der Waals,hydrogen,covalent,metallic,and ionic bonds on the properties of lubricants is evaluated.The contours of the dehesive–deformation theory of friction and wear are also outlined.

The efficiency of devices for bioelectronic applications,including cell and tissue stimulation,is heavily dependent on the scale and the performance level.With miniaturization of stimulation electrodes,achieving a sufficiently high current pulse to elicit action potentials becomes an issue.Herein we report on our approach of vertically stacking organic p-n junctions to create highlyefficient multilayered organic semiconductor(MOS)photostimulation device.A tandem arrangement substantially increases the photovoltage and charge density without sacrificing lateral area,while not exceeding 200-500 nm of thickness.These devices generate 4 times higher voltages and at least double the charge densities over single p-n junction devices,which allow using lower light intensities for stimulation.MOS devices show an outstanding stability in the electrolyte that is extremely important for forthcoming in vivo experiments.Finally,we have validated MOS devices performance by photostimulating fibroblasts and neuroblasts,and found that using tandem devices leads to more effective action potential generation.As a result,we obtained up to 4 times enhanced effect in cell growth density using 3 p-n layered devices.These results corroborate the conclusion that MOS technology not only can achieve parity with state-of-the-art silicon devices,but also can exceed them in miniaturization and performance for biomedical applications.

Experimental Study of Methods of Scenario Lattice Construction for Stochastic Dual Dynamic programming

The stochastic dual dynamic programming (SDDp) algorithm is becoming increasingly used. In this paper we present analysis of different methods of lattice construction for SDDp exemplifying a realistic variant of the newsvendor problem, incorporating storage of production. We model several days of work and compare the profits realized using different methods of the lattice construction and the corresponding computer time spent in lattice construction. Our case differs from the known one because we consider not only a multidimensional but also a multistage case with stage dependence. We construct scenario lattice for different markov processes which play a crucial role in stochastic modeling. The novelty of our work is comparing different methods of scenario lattice construction. We considered a realistic variant of the newsvendor problem. The results presented in this article show that the Voronoi method slightly outperforms others, but the k-means method is much faster overall.

markov Chain Model for Smoking Cessation Treatment

probabilistic models are commonly used in computational medicine for diagnostics. Smoking cessation is an important issue of modern medicine. According to statistics about third part of male in global population are smokers. It is important to develop new approaches for smoking cessation treatment including methods of early diagnosis and development of individual treatment programs for each patient according to his or her physical peculiarities. One of the promising methods is computerized approach for tobacco treatment including electronic survey and computer data analysis. In this work we propose a probabilistic model based on markov chain for estimation of patient behavior in the process on medical survey. This analysis can help to find out patient"s individual characteristics and develop effective personal treatment program. Based on probabilistic model software was developed with aim to enhance diagnosis and developing individual smoking cessation treatment programs for each patient.
