Substituted diamides of dipicolinic acid as extractants and ionophores for rare earth metals

The variety of newly synthesized diamides of dipicolinic acid(DPA)bearing methyl-and oxymethyl substituents in various positions of phenyl ring was investigated as potential ligands for liquid-liquid extraction of rare earth metal ions and as membrane active compounds in plasticized polymeric membranes of potentiometric sensors.It is found that scandium is extracted with 2,6-pyridinedicarboxylic acid diamides similarly to heavy lanthanides,while yttrium is extracted together with light group lanthanides.DPA shows high selectivity for the separation of cadmium/zinc,lead/nickel or copper/nickel pairs.The four out of six studied ligands demonstrate significant potentiometric sensitivity towards scandium,yttrium and lanthanides in 10^(-7)-10^(-3)mol/L concentration range in nitric acid solutions.The trends in sensitivity values vary depending on a ligand structure and the highest values are observed for Sc^(3+)and heavy lanthanides.According to the evaluated selectivity Sm^(3+)is the most preferred ion,while La^(3+)is the most discriminated.The differences in sensor behavior in rare earth metal solutions assume that such devices can be applied in sensor arrays for potentiometric analysis of lanthanide mixtures.

Currently,the diagnostic strategy for chronic gastritis(CG)is aimed not just at fixing the presence of gastric mucosal inflammation,but also at gastric cancer(GC)risk stratification in a particular patient.Modern classification approach with the definition of the stage of gastritis determines the need,activities and frequency of dynamic monitoring of a patient.However,this attitude to the patient suffering from CG was far from always.The present publication is a literature review describing the key milestones in the history of CG research,from the description of the first observations of inflammation of the gastric mucosa,assessment of gastritis as a predominantly functional disease,to the advent of endoscopy of the upper digestive tract and diagnostic gastric biopsy,assessment of the role of Helicobacter pylori infection in progression of inflammatory changes to atrophy,intestinal metaplasia,dysplasia and GC.

Contemporary concepts of prevention and management of gastroesophageal variceal bleeding in liver cirrhosis patients

This editorial describes the contemporary concepts of prevention and management of gastroesophageal variceal bleeding in liver cirrhosis(LC)patients according to the current guidelines.Gastroesophageal variceal bleeding is the most dangerous complication of portal hypertension in LC patients.Risk stratification and determination of an individual approach to the choice of therapeutic measures aimed at their prevention and management has emerged as one of the top concerns in modern hepatology.According to the current guidelines,in the absence of clinically significant portal hypertension,etiological and nonetiological therapies of LC is advisable for the primary preventing gastroesophageal variceal bleeding,whereas its presence serves as an indication for the administration of non-selectiveβ-blockers,among which carvedilol is the drug of choice.Non-selectiveβ-blockers,as well as endoscopic variceal ligation and transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt can be used to prevent recurrence of gastroesophageal variceal bleeding.Pharmacotherapy with vasoactive drugs(terlipressin,somatostatin,octreotide),endoscopic variceal ligation,endovascular techniques and transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt are recommended for the treatment of acute gastroesophageal variceal bleeding.objective and accurate risk stratification of gastroesophageal variceal bleeding will allow developing individual strategies for their prevention and management,avoiding the first and further decompensation in LC,which will improve the prognosis and survival of patients suffering from it.

Microstructure and thermal properties of dissimilar M300–CuCr1Zr alloys by multi-material laser-based powder bed fusion

Multi-material laser-based powder bed fusion (PBF-LB) allows manufacturing of parts with 3-dimensional gradient and additional functionality in a single step. This research focuses on the combination of thermally-conductive CuCr1Zr with hard M300 tool steel.Two interface configurations of M300 on CuCr1Zr and CuCr1Zr on M300 were investigated. Ultra-fine grains form at the interface due to the low mutual solubility of Cu and steel. The material mixing zone size is dependent on the configurations and tunable in the range of0.1–0.3 mm by introducing a separate set of parameters for the interface layers. Microcracks and pores mainly occur in the transition zone.Regardless of these defects, the thermal diffusivity of bimetallic parts with 50vol% of CuCr1Zr significantly increases by 70%–150%compared to pure M300. The thermal diffusivity of CuCr1Zr and the hardness of M300 steel can be enhanced simultaneously by applying the aging heat treatment.

Alzheimer’s disease(AD)is a major age-related form of dementia with a number of cases exponentially growing,causing enormous social and economic impact on individuals and society.Neuropathological hallmarks of AD,evident in postmortem AD brains,include a massive loss of the grey matter in the neocortex,extracellular deposition of amyloid-β(Aβ)in the form of senile plaques and cerebrovascular amyloid angiopathy,and intra-neuronal accumulation of neurofibrillary tangles,formed by hyper-phosphorylated tau protein.

Association of ABCB1 gene polymorphisms rs1128503, rs2032582, rs4148738 with anemia in patients receiving dabigatran after total knee arthroplasty

Purpose:Dabigatran is usually prescribed in recommended doses without monitoring of the blood coagulation for the prevention of venous thromboembolism after joint arthroplasty.ABCB1 is a key gene in the metabolism of dabigatran etexilate.Its allele variants are likely to play a pivotal role in the occurrence of hemorrhagic complications.Methods:The prospective study included 127 patients with primary knee osteoarthritis undergoing total knee arthroplasty.Patients with anemia and coagulation disorders,elevated transaminase and creatinine levels as well as already receiving anticoagulant and antiplatelet therapy were excluded from the study.The association of ABCB1 gene polymorphisms rs1128503,rs2032582,rs4148738 with anemia as the outcome of dabigatran therapy was evaluated by single-nucleotide polymorphism analysis with a realtime polymerase chain reaction assay and laboratory blood tests.The beta regression model was used to predict the effect of polymorphisms on the studied laboratory markers.The probability of the type 1 error(p)was less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant.BenjaminiHochberg was used to correct for significance levels in multiple hypothesis tests.All calculations were performed using Rprogramming language v3.6.3.Results:For all polymorphisms there was no association with the level of platelets,protein,creatinine,alanine transaminase,prothrombin,international normalized ratio,activated partial thromboplastin time and fibrinogen.Carriers of rs1128503(TT)had a significant decrease of hematocrit(p=0.001),red blood count and hemoglobin(p=0.015)while receiving dabigatran therapy during the postoperative period compared to the CC,CT.Carriers of rs2032582(TT)had a significant decrease of hematocrit(p=0.001),red blood count and hemoglobin(p=0.006)while receiving dabigatran therapy during the postoperative period compared to the GG,GT phenotypes.These differences were not observed in carriers of rs4148738.Conclusion:It might be necessary to reconsider thromboprophylaxis with dabigatran in

Manufacturer encroachment and carbon reduction decisions considering cap-and-trade policy and retailer investment

Low-carbon regulation and market competition present new opportunities and challenges for supply chain firms,emphasizing the significance of carbon reduction and channel encroachment in enhancing competitiveness.This study formulates various game models to evaluate manufacturers’encroachment strategies(with or without encroachment)under different conditions of low-carbon investment by retailers.It investigates the operational decisions and carbon abatement strategies of firms under various scenarios.The findings reveal that encroachment elevates unit abatement levels but decreases wholesale prices and retailer profits when unit encroachment costs are below certain thresholds.In contrast,the manufacturer consistently benefits from channel encroachment.Retailer-initiated low-carbon investments can motivate manufacturers to reduce emissions.A lower carbon price potentially offers financial advantages to retailer engaging in such investments.Additionally,the likelihood of reduced environmental damage postchannel encroachment,compared to preprofessional encroachment,increases when the retailer invests in low-carbon initiatives.The retailer’s profit is inversely related to the carbon price,and a higher carbon price can strengthen the incentive effect of low-carbon investment on the manufacturer’s abatement endeavors.

Customized Convolutional Neural Network for Accurate Detection of Deep Fake Images in Video Collections

The motivation for this study is that the quality of deep fakes is constantly improving,which leads to the need to develop new methods for their detection.The proposed Customized Convolutional Neural Network method involves extracting structured data from video frames using facial landmark detection,which is then used as input to the CNN.The customized Convolutional Neural Network method is the date augmented-based CNN model to generate‘fake data’or‘fake images’.This study was carried out using Python and its libraries.We used 242 films from the dataset gathered by the Deep Fake Detection Challenge,of which 199 were made up and the remaining 53 were real.Ten seconds were allotted for each video.There were 318 videos used in all,199 of which were fake and 119 of which were real.our proposedmethod achieved a testing accuracy of 91.47%,loss of 0.342,and AUC score of 0.92,outperforming two alternative approaches,CNN and MLP-CNN.Furthermore,our method succeeded in greater accuracy than contemporary models such as XceptionNet,Meso-4,EfficientNet-Bo,MesoInception-4,VGG-16,and DST-Net.The novelty of this investigation is the development of a new Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)learning model that can accurately detect deep fake face photos.

Actinobacterial community is a conspicuous part of aquatic ecosystems and displays an important role in the case of biogeochemical cycle,but little is known about the seasonal variation of actinobacterial community in reservoir ecological environment.In this study,the high-throughput techniques were used to investigate the structure of the aquatic actinobacterial community and its inducing water quality parameters in different seasons.The results showed that the highest diversity and abundance of actinobacterial community occurred in winter,with Sporichthya(45.42%)being the most abundant genus and Rhodococcus sp.(29.32%)being the most abundant species.Network analysis and correlation analysis suggested that in autumn the dynamics of actinobacterial community were infuenced by more factors and Nocardioides sp.SX2R5S2 was the potential keystone species which was negatively correlated with temperature(R=-0.72,Ponmental factors could significantly affect the changes in actinobacterial community,and the dynamics of temperature,dissolved oxygen(Do),and turbidity are potential conspicuous factors infuencing seasonal actinobacterial community trends.The partial least squares path modeling further elucidated that the combined effects of Do and temperature not only in the diversity of actinobacterial community but also in other water qualities,while the physiochemical parameters(path coefficient=1.571,Pong environmental factors in natural mixture period.These results strengthen our understanding of the dynamics and structures of actinobacterial community in the drinking water reservoirs and provide scientific guidance for further water quality management and protection in water sources.
