Camouflage is widespread throughout the animal kingdom allowing individuals to avoid detection and hence save time and energy rather than escape from an approaching ***,camouflage is likely to have co-evolved with antipredator ***,we propose that camouflage results in dichotomous escape behavior within and among species with classes of individuals and species with cryptic coloration having shorter flight initiation distances(FIDs;the distance at which an individual takes flight when approached by a human).We report the results of 2 tests of this ***,bird species with cryptically colored plumage have consistently shorter FID than closely related species without such *** species with sexually dimorphic plumage,brightly colored adult male common pheasants Phasianus colchicus and golden pheasants Chrysolophus pictus have long and variable FID,whereas cryptically colored juveniles and adult females have short and invariable ***,FID in females was predicted by presence or absence of cryptic color,FID in males and their *** findings are consistent with the hypothesis that risk-taking behavior has been attuned to camouflage,and that species with different levels of camouflage differ consistently in their FID.

During the past decades, endoscopic resection techniques have gradually improved and gained more importance for the management of premalignant lesions and early cancers. These endoscopic resection techniques can be divided in 3 major groups: snare polipectomy, endoscopic mucosal resection(EmR) and endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD). The use of submucosal injection is essential for the majority of EmR techniques and is an integral part of ESD,whereas during polipectomy it is not crucial in most cases except to prevent bleeding in large polyps and/or those with large stalks as an alternative to mechanical methods. Injection provides a lifting up effect of the lesion separating it from the muscular layer, thereby reducing thermal injury and the risk of perforation and bleeding while also facilitating en-bloc resection by improving technical feasibility. With this work, we aim to review the most common endoscopic resection techniques and the importance of submucosal injection in each one of them. For that, we present some of the most commonly used submucosal injection solutions, taking into account their advantages and disadvantages. We also discuss, based on current recommendations and our own experience, how and when to preform submucosal injection, depending on lesions features and endoscopic resection technique that′s being used, to assure complete resection and to prevent associated adverse events. Finally, we also present and discuss some new proposed submucosal injection solutions,endoscopic resection techniques and devices that may have a major impact on the future of therapeutic endoscopy.

Linkages between plant diversity and soil properties are related to ecological processes of feedback between aboveground and belowground subsystems. Such interactions may have an important participation as underlying mechanisms associated with species diversity and species coexistence and revealed in terms of spatial structure. A rapidly inclusion of spatial structure in ecological thinking has been seen as a very important issue and an increasing number of studies have focused on the effects of grazing on spatial heterogeneity of plants and soils. However, there is a lack of information concerning interactions between soil resources and plant diversity in a spatial context. We investigated the magnitude and correlation of spatial heterogeneity between plant diversity and soil properties, providing insights about underlying ecological processes and their spatial structure. measurements of plant diversity, nitrogen, carbon, pH and electrical conductivity （EC） were followed by comparisons of their spatial structure in twelve 50 x 50m plots of a natural meadow steppe area. Each plot was randomly surveyed using 30 lm x lm sampling units. Heterogeneous and homogeneous plots were defined according to the degree of dissimilarity of plant diversity in each sampling point. We found higher percentage of nitrogen and higher values of EC in homogenous plots and heterogeneous plots, respectively. Closer positive spatial correspondence was found when plant diversity was compared with carbon and nitrogen spatial distribution among heterogeneous plots. Among homogeneous plots, pH and carbon values had higher negative correspondence. Negative spatial correlation was found when diversity index of plants was compared to spatial autocorrelation index of EC, carbon and nitrogen in each plot. Results from spatial heterogeneity plots suggested a differentiate use of soil nitrogen in space and also a distinct microenvironment around plant roots, particularly in relation to EC. The id

microbial fuel cells （mFCs） rely on microbial conversion of organic substrates to electricity. The optimal perfor- mance depends on the establishment of a microbial community rich in electrogenic bacteria. Usually this micro- bial community is established from inoculation of the mFC anode chamber with naturally occurring mixed inocula. In this study, the electrochemical performance of mFCs and microbial community evolution were eval- uated for three inocula including domestic wastewater （DW）, lake sediment （LS） and biogas sludge （BS） with varying substrate loading （Lsub） and external resistance （Rext） on the mFC. The electrogenic bacterium Geobacter sulfurreducens was identified in all inocula and its abundance during mFC operation was positively linked to the mFC performance. The IS inoculated mFCs showed highest abundance （18% ± 1%） of G. sulfurreducens, maximum current density [Imax = （690 ± 30） mA.m 2] and coulombic efficiency （CE = 29% ±1%） with acetate as the substrate./max and CE increased to （1780 ± 30） mA.m-2 and 58%± 1%, respectively, after decreasing the Rext from 1000 Ωto 200 Ω, which also correlated to a higher abundance ofG. sulfurreducens （21% ±0.7%） on the mFC anodic biofilm. The data obtained contribute to understanding the microbial community response to Lsub and Roy, for of timizing electricity eneration in mFCs.
