Comparative quantitative analysis of fruit oil from Hippophae rhamnoides(seabuckthorn) by qNMR, FTIR and GC–MS

Objective: To develop a qNMR method for quantitative analysis of triacylglycerols in fruit oil of Hippophae rhamnoides(seabuckthorn, SBT) and analyze commercial samples of SBT oils using GC–MS and ***: SBT fruit oil(IPHRFH) was extracted with hexane and the triglyceride(TAG) was isolated by vacuum liquid chromatography. Six different branded SBT oils purchased from e-commerce suppliers(Amazon) and in-house prepared SBT oil was analyzed by qNMR and fatty acyl composition of TAGs determined by using NMR. In-house oil was also analysed by GC–MS and FTIR ***: The qNMR results showed that the oil contained 80.3% of triacylglycerol(TAG). The SBT oil TAGs comprised of linolenate 6.6%, palmitoleate/oleate 65.4%, and total saturated fatty acyl chain including palmitate 28% as determined by qNMR. GC–MS analysis revealed that the major acyl functionalities present in the TAG were palmitoleic acid 36.5%, oleic acid 12.9%, palmitic acid 21.2%, and linoleic acid 18%. Of the six commercial samples analyzed, samples from only one supplier(SW) were fruit oil;All others were the seed oils or mix of fruit oil and seed oil. The labels for samples except for the SW did not indicate whether it was fruit oil or seed ***: The results suggest that SBT oil should be analyzed by combination of GC–MS, FTIR and qNMR for factual content of free fatty acid or TAGs, which are chemically different in nature and affect the quality of oil. GC–MS showed the content of omega free fatty acids after hydrolysis, while qNMR and FTIR showed the content of TAGs. The major acyl functionalities found in SBT fruit oil TAGs are palmitoleate/palmitate/oleate, while linoleate and linonelate make up a minor fraction. Furthermore,analysis of commercial samples showed discrepancies between label claims and actual content.

Clinicosocial Profile of People Who Inject Drugs Receiving Opioid Substitution Therapy at New Delhi

Introduction:Injecting drug use is a public health concern due to its clinical,social,economic,and legal ***:(1)To evaluate the prevalence of infections associated with injecting drug use;and(2)To assess the social profile of substance users and high-risk behaviors among people who inject drugs(PWID)receiving opioid substitution therapy(OST).Materials and Methods:A cross-sectional study was conducted among 100 PWID who were deemed eligible using inclusion and exclusion *** were collected through an interviewer-administered structured questionnaire after obtaining informed written ***:The results revealed that 14%of PWID had human immunodeficiency virus(HIV),7%had tuberculosis,and 2%had hepatitis B virus(HBV).None of the PWID self-reported hepatitis C virus(HCV)***,71%of PWID were living on the streets(***),and 41%of PWID had a history of sharing needles with other users in the preceding 3 *** or single PWID had significantly increased risk of homelessness(χ^(2)=4.570;P=0.032)and reported high-risk sexual practices with commercial sexual partners in the preceding 3 months(χ^(2)=4.163;P=0.041).Homeless PWID had significantly increased frequency of injecting practices(P=0.020).Conclusion:Despite the higher global prevalence of HCV compared with HBV and HIV among PWID,HCV testing is not currently conducted at most OST centers in *** to free needles and syringes should be enhanced to reduce the morbidity associated with injecting drug use.

Local fluoride contamination and bacterial infections in potable water have dangerous effects on the human body and are today a global *** this study,we have synthesized a pH-responsive bifunctional biopolymer nanocomposite(HAZ)of humic acid with incorporating aluminum zirconium bimetallic oxide by deep freeze–drying *** nucleation and interconnection of nanoparticles form a highly porous network because of sublimation of frozen *** duo nanocomposite has efficiently worked for fluoride removal and showed potent antibacterial activity against the Escherichia coli Gram-negative and Staphylococcus aureus Gram-positive *** X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)analysis demonstrates that the hydroxyl groups act as a pivot in the ion exchange process of adsorption,each element of bimetallic oxide primarily takes part in the adsorption *** maximum adsorption capacity of the adsorbent was 180.62 mg/g at pH *** parameters like Gibbs free energy change(△G0),entropy(△S0),and enthalpy(△H0)indicate that the process was endothermic,feasible,and taken place by a chemisorption *** is the first novel freeze–dried bifunctional biopolymer nanocomposite composed of humic acid natural polymer incorporated with Al–Zr metal oxide,and it exhibited three times higher adsorption efficacy with excellent antibacterial action at a concentration of 5μg/mL of the nanocomposite.

Proactive Connection Recovery Strategy with Recovery Time Constraint for Survivable Elastic Optical Networks

The effect of mate removal on dawn singing behaviour in male pied bush chats

To determine the influence of pairing status on dawn singing behaviour in pied bush chatsSaxicola caprata, we conducted mate removal experiments across eight territories. The experiment was divided into three stages: pre-removal (pairs were present on their respective territories), removal (females were experimentally removed), and returned (females were released into the focal pairs’ territories). Dawn bout length, song rate, song complexity, percentage performance time, song perch height, and distance of singing location to territory boundary were measured for each male during each experimental stage. We did not find an effect of mate removal on any dawn song characteristics of male pied bush chats suggesting that the presence or absence of a mate does not influence male dawn singing behaviour. Our findings further suggest that males use dawn chorus to mediate social relationships with neighbouring males to proclaim an established territory.

Feature selection for face recognition:a memetic algorithmic approach

The eigenface method that uses principal component analysis(PCA) has been the standard and popular method used in face *** paper presents a PCA-memetic algorithm(PCA-MA) approach for feature *** has been extended by MAs where the former was used for feature extraction/dimensionality reduction and the latter exploited for feature *** were performed over ORL and YaleB face databases using Euclidean norm as the *** was found that as far as the recognition rate is concerned,PCA-MA completely outperforms the eigenface *** compared the performance of PCA extended with genetic algorithm(PCA-GA) with our proposed PCA-MA *** results also clearly established the supremacy of the PCA-MA method over the PCA-GA *** further extended linear discriminant analysis(LDA) and kernel principal component analysis(KPCA) approaches with the MA and observed significant improvement in recognition rate with fewer *** paper also compares the performance of PCA-MA,LDA-MA and KPCA-MA approaches.

INFLUENCE OF RIGID BOUNDARY ON THE LOVE WAVE PROPAGATION IN ELASTIC LAYER WITH VOID PORES

In this paper, a mathematical model for Love wave propagation in a porous elastic layer under a rigid boundary resting over a poro-elastic half-space has been developed. The study shows that such a medium transmits two types of Love waves. The first front depends on the change in volume fraction of the pores whereas the second front depends upon the modulus of rigidity of the elastic matrix of the medium and is the same as the Love wave in an elastic layer over an elastic half-space. It is observed that the first front is many times faster than the shear wave in the medium with void pores due to the change in the volume fraction of the pores and is significant.
