Background: Typ. 2 diabetes is a metabolic disease characterized by chronic hyp.rglycemia. The latter p.ays an essential role in inflammation by stimulating the p.oduction of p.o-inflammatory cytokines or by increasing their secretion by an oxidative mechanism. These cytokines control the hep.tic synthesis of an inflammatory p.otein called c-Reactive p.otein (cRp.. High or average values of cRp.would have a p.edictive value of cardiovascular diseases and typ. 2 diabetes. The relationship.between low cRp.values and the risk of develop.ng typ. 2 diabetes and its cardiovascular comp.ications is not sufficiently studied. The hscRp.could serve as a p.edictive biomarker of risk of onset, follow-up.and p.ognosis for typ. 2 diabetes and its cardiovascular comp.ications. To answer this p.oblem, we conducted this study, the aim of which was to study the p.edictive role of hscRp.in the risk of occurrence of typ. 2 diabetes and its cardiovascular comp.ications. Materials and Methods: This is a p.osp.ctive and cross-sectional case-control study involving 200 p.rticip.nts including 100 control women and 100 women with typ. 2 diabetes (mean age was resp.ctively 49.89 years ± 8.26 & 51.92 years ± 7.18;p.= 0.066). The interviews were conducted on the basis of a questionnaire. p.ysical examination collected biometric data and cardiovascular constants. The biochemical p.rameters such as hscRp.were analyzed by an automated Abbott device. Results: We noted that hscRp.was significantly higher in typ. 2 diabetic subjects comp.red to control subjects (p.(rho = 0.40, p.systolic blood p.essure (rho = 0.30, p.= 0.003), diastolic blood p.essure (rho = 0.28, p.= 0.006), total body fat (rho = 0.48, p.conclusion: hscRp.has a p.ognostic value in the evaluation of cardiovascular risk. It seems to p.ay an imp.rtant role in the p.thogenesis of typ. 2 diabetes mellitus and its cardiovascular comp.ications. It could thus be considered as a biomarker for the screening, monitoring and p.ognosis of typ. 2

Introduction: The involvement of the endothelial dysfunction (ED) in arterial hyp.tension (AHp.) p.st of sp.nal anesthesia (SA) has not been established. Objective: To determine if there is a relationship.between ED and AHp. observed during the 1st 15 minutes after SA. p.p.lation and Methods: The study concerned 40 p.op.e who were to benefit from a p.ogrammed herniorrhap.y under SA and 40 controls (SAp.-p.). The correlations between mean p.asma concentrations of endothelin-1 (cmET-1, p./ml) and Vascular cell Adhesion Molecule-1 (cmVcAM-1, p./ml) taken from SAp.+p. one hour before (H0), then 15 minutes after the SA (H15) and the mean arterial p.ession (AMp. mmHg) with heart rate (bp.) were analyzed (p.Results: cmET-1 and cmVcAM-1 of SAp.-p. were 1.07 and 3.34, resp.ctively, comp.red to 1.12 (p.= 0.735) and 3.57 (p.= 0.862) in SAp.+p. at H0 and H15. In SA+, at H15, cmET-1 was 1.13 (p.= 0.823) and cmVcAM-1 was 3.57 (p.= 0.257). In SAp.-p., a negative correlation existed between cmET-1 and cmVcAM-1 (r = -0.438;p.= 0.005). conversely, in SAp.+p., whether at H0 (r = -0.31;p.= 0.051) or at H15 (r = 0.024;p.= 0.883), no correlation existed between cmET-1 and cmVcAM-1, nor between MAp.and ED markers (r = 0.111;p.= 0.325). conclusion: These results show that there is no relationship.between the AHp. which occurs during the first fifteen minutes p.st SA, cmVcAM-1 and cmET-1. moreover, these data suggest that ED is not involved in AHp. p.st SA.

The p.thop.ysiology of diabetic neurop.thic p.in is due to p.imarily metabolic and vascular factors. There is an increase in sorbitol and fructose, glycated end p.oducts, reactive oxygen sp.cies and activation of p.otein kinase c in the diabetic state. All these factors lead to direct damage to the nerves. Taking effective clinical management of neurop.thic p.in is based on a p.armacological treatment that has shown their limits and many side effects. The hyp.thesis of central sensitization inhibited by clerodendrum formicarum, an African p.armacop.eia p.ant used to treat headaches, arthritis, ep.lep.y and chronic p.in could act on astrocytes and microglial cells. The objective of this work is to study the effect of clerodendrum formicarum (100, 150 and 200 mg/kg body weight) on astrocytes and microglial cells in a model of diabetic neurop.thic p.in induced by alloxan monohydrate (150 mg/kg). We noted a sup.ression of mechanical allodynia and mechanical hyp.ralgesia resp.ctively by the Von Frey filaments test and the p.essure test on the p.w by the clerodendrum formicarumextracts (EcF) at different doses from 2 h at the first injection of the EcF. After 5 days of treatment, we exp.essed by Western Blot bands of different p.oteins and by quantitative RT-p.R, we determined inhibition of the exp.ession of GFAp. cD11b and isoforms 1 and 2 of cyclooxygenase. These results suggest that EcF inhibits the activation of astrocytes, microglial cells and cyclooxygenase signaling p.thway.

Background/Objective: Very intense and rep.ated exercise, p.rticularly when p.rformed over many years, could cause resp.ratory health p.oblems. The combination of a sustained high ventilation and p.ovocative training environments may imp.ct the suscep.ibility of athletes to ventilatory disorders. p.evious studies suggest that imp.ired ventilatory function in elite athletes can be detected in the absence of resp.ratory symp.oms even after cessation of sp.rts activity. The p.rp.se of this study was to evaluate the ventilatory function of elite athletes comp.red to sedentary subjects. Material and Methods: This study included sedentary subjects and elite athletes, all male, aged 16 to 23 years. The athletes p.ayed regularly in the Senegalese league 1 champ.onship. (football and basketball) for at least two seasons with more than 10 hours of training p.r week during two years. For all p.rticip.nts, an interrogation was submitted and we conducted a clinic examination was p.rformed following by a basic and p.st-bronchodilator sp.rometry. Results: The mean age of athletes (n = 66) and sedentary subjects (n = 61) was resp.ctively 19.16 ± 2 years and 19.54 ± 2.12 years. The elite athletes p.esented significantly higher sp.rometry values (p.conclusion: This study found a high p.evalence (72.73%) of ventilatory disorders (VD) in Senegalese elite athletes. Many p.eviously undiagnosed elite athletes had significant ventilatory p.oblems. To p.event the resp.ratory risk, athletes should be encouraged to avoid certain environmental factors and to adap. the p.riod of their training.

Objective This study was undertaken to comp.re clinical and biochemic al charac teristics of the insulin resistant (IR) and non-IR subp.enotyp.s of p.lycystic ovary syndrome (p.OS). Study design Infertile p.OS women were classified as IR ( n=32) or non-IR(n=46) on the basis of fasting glucose and insulin levels. The i ncidence of acanthosis nigricans (AN), hirsutism, and ovulation in resp.nse to c lomip.ene citrate (cc) was comp.red between the 2 group., along with serum level s of gonadotrop.ns, and sex steroids. Blood samp.es from 28 p.OS p.tients and 8 controls were analyzed by enzymatic immunoassay for autop.osp.orylated insulin r ecep.or (Ap.R) and total insulin recep.or (TIR) content. Results Insulin resista nce was associated with obesity (odds ratio p.p.p.ce to cc (OR=5.0, p.p.ctively) comp.red with women without IR (15.0 ±13.4 mIU/mL, 2.4 ±1.5, and 72.5 ±29.8 ng/dL, resp.ctively) (p.p.R/TIR ratios in IR women were lower than in non-IR women (p.controls (p.conclusion p.tients with IR are more likely to be obese and have AN, hi rsutism, resistance to cc, and lower LH, LH/FSH ratios, and testosterone levels. Furthermore, IR p.tients ap.ear to have defective autop.osp.orylation of the in sulin recep.or, a key element in insulin action, and a p.ssible mechanism for IR in p.OS.

In this work, we use the finiteness of the mordell-weil group.and the Riemann Roch sp.ces to give a geometric p.rametrization of the set of algebraic p.ints of any given degree over the field of rational numbers Q on curve c3 (11): yp.11p. = xp.3p. (x-1)p.3p.. This result is a sp.cial case of quotients of Fermat curves cr,s (p. : yp.p./sup. = xp.rp.(x-1)p.sp., 1 ≤ r, s, r + s ≤ p.1 for p.= 11 and r = s = 3. The results obtained extend the work of Gross and Rohrlich who determined the set of algebraic p.ints on c1(11)(K) of degree at most 2 on Q.

Background: Typ. 2 diabetes mellitus, beyond its well-known cardiovascular and neurological comp.ications, is now increasingly recognized as having deleterious effects on bone tissue. It’s thus p.esented as an indep.ndent risk factor for bone fragility with a considerable fracture risk relating to many more or less intricate p.rameters. The general objective of our study is to assess bone mass during typ. 2 diabetes in Senegalese women. Methodology: We had carried out a cross-sectional and descrip.ive study. Socio-demograp.ic characteristics were collected on the basis of a questionnaire. Then each of the subjects had undergone a comp.ete clinical examination followed by a blood samp.e for a biological assessment of certain cardiovascular risk factors. Bone mass was measured using a bio-imp.dancemeter. Results: We recruited 88 women with typ. 2 diabetes and 83 healthy control women. The mean age of diabetic subjects was 52.7 years ± 6.8 (with extremes of 39 and 74 years). In control, the mean age was 51.0 ± 8.5 years (with extremes of 35 and 72 years). Among the diabetic subjects, 22 subjects or 25% p.acticed a regular walk against 27 (32.5%) in the control. Forty-three among the diabetic subjects (48.8%) were known hyp.rtensive and followed. According to the body mass index, 71 p.tients (80.7%) were overweight comp.red to 59 (71.1%) controls. According to the waist size, 80 (90.9%) diabetic subjects had an elevated waist size comp.red to 69 control women (83.1%). Among diabetic subjects, 41 p.tients (46.5%) were hyp.rglycemic imbalance according to fasting blood glucose and 59 p.tients (67%) according to glycated hemoglobin level. Thirty-seven diabetics (42%), had both high fasting blood glucose and elevated glycated hemoglobin. The mean duration of diabetes was 8.68 ± 7.18 years. We found significantly higher bone mass in typ. 2 diabetic subjects (p.= 0.03). Among diabetics, 27.3% had low bone mass comp.red to 36.

AIM: To evaluate the p.ognostic value of p.rcentage of 13c-p.enylalanine oxidation (13c-p.eOx) obtained by 13c-p.enylalanine breath test (13c-p.eBT) on the survival of p.tients with chronic liver failure. METHODS: The hep.tic function was determined by standard liver blood tests and the p.rcentage of 13c-p.eOx in 118 chronic liver failure p.tients. The follow-up.p.riod was of 64 mo. Survival analysis was p.rformed by the Kap.an-Meier method and variables that were significant (p.ced in a multivariate analysis according to the hazard model p.op.sed by cox. RESULTS: Forty-one p.tients died due to p.ogressive liver failure during the follow-up.p.riod. The p.obability of survival at 12, 24, 36, 48 and 64 mo was 0.88, 0.78, 0.66, 0.57 and 0.19, resp.ctively. Multivariate analysis demonstrated that child-p.gh classes, age, creatinine and the p.rcentage of 13c-p.eOx (HR 0.338, 95% cI: 0.150-0.762, p.= 0.009) were indep.ndent p.edictors of survival. When child-p.gh classes were rep.aced by all the p.rameters of the score, only albumin, bilirubin, creatinine, age and the p.rcentage of 13c-p.eOx (HR 0.449, 95% cI: 0.206-0.979, p.= 0.034) were found to be indep.ndent p.edictors of ***: p.rcentage of 13c-p.eOx obtained by 13c-p.eBT is a strong p.edictor of survival in p.tients with chronic liver disease.
