Fungi have evolved diverse strategies to acquire nutrients as endophytes,saprobes,symbionts,or *** have been intensively studied due to their importance in attaching and breaching the host *** specialized infection structures have evolved into various morpho-types:proto-appressoria,hyaline appressoria,melanized(dark)appressoria,and compound *** this review,we discuss the differences in the formation,differentiation,and function of appres-soria among fungi with diverse life *** DNA sequence information,LsU,5.8s,ssU and rpb2 gene fragments,we reconstructed the ancestral states for appressorial types in the main phyla of fungi and fungus-like organisms and found that the hyaline appressoria was the most ancestral *** analysis estimated proto-appressoria diversification during the Mesozoic period(92-239 million years ago),however,its origin remains *** data suggest that these hyaline appressoria diversified into melanized or compound appressoria,with evidence of adaptive radiation.

Fungi play vital roles in ecosystems as endophytes,pathogens and *** current estimate of fungal diversity is highly uncertain,ranging from 1.5 to 12 million,but only around 150,000 species have been named and classified to *** the introduction of DNA based methods for species identification,the number of newly described taxa has increased from approximately 1000 to around 2000 *** demonstrates the importance of DNA based methods to identify and distin-guish species,especially cryptic *** novel species from recent studies have been found in historically understudied regions and habitats,but these still represent only a small percentage of the estimated *** this paper,we examine 16 genera from the top 40 most speciose genera as listed in species Fungorum as case studies to examine the diversity of taxa in each *** genera treated herein are Cercospora,Diaporthe,Meliola,Passalora,Phyllachora,Phyllosticta,Pseudocer-cospora,Ramularia(ascomycetes)and Cortinarius,Entoloma,Inocybe,Marasmius,Psathyrella,Puccinia,Russula,Uromyces(basidiomycetes).We critically evaluate the number of species in these genera and correlate these numbers with the number of entries in *** introduce 18 new species Apiospora multiloculata,Candolleomyces thailandensis,Cortinarius acutoproximus,Cortinarius melleoalbus,Cortinarius pacificus,Cortinarius parvoacetosus,Diaporthe guizhouensis,Entoloma pseudosubcorvinum,Inocybe meirensongia,Marasmius albulus,Marasmius obscuroaurantiacus,Meliola camporesii,Phyl-lachora siamensis,Phyllosticta doitungensis,Picipes yuxiensis,Pseudocercospora vignae,Puccinia maureanui and Russula *** also introduce a new record of Candolleomyces cladii-marisci and Inocybe *** discuss the genera Colletotrichum and Pleurotus that are speciose,but do not occur in the top *** hypothesize whether there might be more species in these genera and discuss why these genera have some of the largest number of specie

Fungi are an understudied,biotechnologically valuable group of *** to the immense range of habitats that fungi inhabit,and the consequent need to compete against a diverse array of other fungi,bacteria,and animals,fungi have developed numerous survival *** unique attributes of fungi thus herald great promise for their application in biotechnology and ***,fungi can be grown with relative ease,making production at scale *** search for fungal biodiversity,and the construction of a living fungi collection,both have incredible economic potential in locating organisms with novel industrial uses that will lead to novel *** manuscript reviews fifty ways in which fungi can potentially be utilized as *** provide notes and examples for each potential exploitation and give examples from our own work and the work of other notable *** also provide a flow chart that can be used to convince funding bodies of the importance of fungi for biotechnological research and as potential *** have provided the world with penicillin,lovastatin,and other globally significant medicines,and they remain an untapped resource with enormous industrial potential.

Development and validation of an instrument to assess knowledge,attitudes,and practices on digital health among nursing officers

Objective:Validation is an important aspect of an instrument,and it ensures the confidence of researchers to employ the instrument in their *** study was conducted to develop and validate an instrument to assess knowledge,attitudes,and practices(KAP) on digital health among nurses since digital health capacity is a major concern in health care that needs to be ***:We conducted a methodological study to assess the content validity and reliability of the ***,items were generated through a comprehensive literature review and by obtaining an expert ***,content and face validity were assessed by a panel of 7 *** the item-level content validity index(I-CVI) and the scale-level content validity index(s-CVI) were ***,test–retest reliability and internal consistency of the instrument were *** were analyzed using sPss version ***:The initial pool consisted of 60 items and after obtaining content,face,and construct validity,51 items *** with an I-CVI sidered *** s-CVI for relevancy,clarity,ambiguity,and simplicity were 0.93,0.91,0.94,and 0.92,*** subcomponents were constructed in each knowledge and attitudes domain,and the test–retest reliability test revealed that the instrument has good reliability,showing correlation coefficient values for the KAP domains and the total questionnaire of 0.76,0.98,0.99,and 0.99,*** independent Cronbach's α for all items was 0.76,indicating good internal ***:The present study established the acceptable validity and ensured the good reliability and internal consistency of the instrument,which can serve as an assessment tool of KAP on digital health among healthcare professionals.

Epifoliar fungi are one of the significant fungal groups typically living on the surface of leaves. They are usually recordedas saprobes, obligate parasites and commensals and are widely distributed in tropical and subtropical regions. Numerousgenera within this group remain inadequately understood, primarily attributed to limited taxonomic knowledge and insufficientmolecular data. Furthermore, the taxonomic delineation of epifoliar fungi remained uncertain, with scattered andliterature-based data often intermixed with other follicolous fungi. Herein, a comprehensive taxonomic monograph of 124genera in (32) Asterinales, (18) Capnodiales, (15) Chaetothyriales, (8) Meliolales, (8) Micropeltidales, (10) Microthyriales,(32) Parmulariales and (1) Zeloasperisporiales was provided re-describing with illustrations and line drawings. Notes onecological and economic importance of the families are also provided. Representatives type herbarium materials of Campoapulcherrima, Cycloschizon brachylaenae, Ferrarisia philippina, Hysterostomella guaranitica, Palawaniella orbiculata andPseudolembosia orbicularis of Parmulariaceae were re-examined and provided updated illustrations with descriptions. Abackbone phylogenetic tree and divergence estimation analysis for epifoliar fungi based on LsU and 5.8s ITs sequence dataare provided.
