Control of various factors, including mineral components, primary productivity and redox level, on the total organic carbon(TOC) in the lower Cambrian black shale from southeastern margin of Upper Yangtze(Taozichong, Longbizui and Yanbei areas) is discussed in detail in this article. Mineral components in the study strata are dominated by quartz and clay minerals. Quartz in the Niutitang Formation is mainly of biogenic origin, and the content is in positive correlation with TOC, while the content of clay minerals is negatively correlated with TOC. Primary productivity, represented by the content of Mobio(biogenic molybdenum), Babio(biogenic barium) and phosphorus, is positively correlated with TOC. The main alkanes in studied samples are nCC, and odd–even priority values are closed to 1(0.73–1.13), which suggest the organic matter source was marine plankton. Element content ratios of U/Th and Ni/Co and compound ratio Pr/Ph indicate dysoxic–anoxic bottom water, with weak positive relative with TOC. In total, three main points can be drawn to explain the relationship between data and the factors affecting organic accumulation:(1) quartz-rich and clay-mineral-poor deep shelf–slope–basin environment was favorable for living organisms;(2) high productivity provided the material foundation for organic generation;(3) the redox conditions impact slightly on the content of organic matter under high productivity and dysoxic–anoxic condition.

Cells are the fundamental units of biological systems and exhibit unique development trajectories and molecular features. Our exploration of how the genomes orchestrate the formation and maintenance of each cell, and control the cellular phenotypes of various organismsis, is both captivating and intricate. Since the inception of the first single-cell RNA technology, technologies related to single-cell sequencing have experienced rapid advancements in recent years. These technologies have expanded horizontally to include single-cell genome, epigenome,proteome, and metabolome, while vertically, they have progressed to integrate multiple omics data and incorporate additional information such as spatial sc RNA-seq and CRISPR screening. Single-cell omics represent a groundbreaking advancement in the biomedical field,offering profound insights into the understanding of complex diseases, including cancers. Here, we comprehensively summarize recent advances in single-cell omics technologies, with a specific focus on the methodology section. This overview aims to guide researchers in selecting appropriate methods for single-cell sequencing and related data analysis.

A report of 28 cases of 3-year follow-up after liver transplantation for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma

AIM: To investigate the therapeutic value of liver transplantation for advanced hepatocellular cardnoma (HCC). METHODS: Twenty-eight patients with advanced HCC were treated by liver transplantation from August 2000 to October 2003 at Peking University Third hospital. All the patients were followed up to evaluate the ***: The longest follow-up duration was 3 years and 3 mo. Till the end of the follow-up period, 17 patients had already died and 11 were alive. Of those who died, 10 patients died of tumor recurrence, 4 died during the perioperative period, 2 died of variceal bleeding, and 1 died of biliary complication. According to life table method, the 1-, 2-, and 3-year survival rates were 87.5%, 52.5%,and 42.9%,respectively. CONCLUSION: Liver transplantation provides a new treatment under the circumstance of lacking of an effective treatment for advanced HCC at present. Some patients can survive for a relatively long time free of tumor. In our country,if the patients can afford liver transplantation, advanced HCC without extrahepatic metastasis is an indication for liver transplantation at present.

Effect of nanosized NbC precipitates on hydrogen-induced cracking of high-strength low-alloy steel

We investigated the effect of nanosized NbC precipitates on hydrogen-induced cracking(HIC)of high-strength low-alloy steel by conducting slow-strain-rate tensile tests(SSRT)and performing continuous hydrogen charging and fracture *** results reveal that the HIC resistance of Nb-bearing steel is obviously superior to that of Nb-free steel,with the fractured Nb-bearing steel in the SSRT exhibiting a smaller ratio of elongation reduction(Iδ).However,as the hydrogen traps induced by NbC precipitates approach hydrogen saturation,the effect of the precipitates on the HIC resistance *** speculate that the highly dispersed nanosized NbC precipitates act as irreversible hydrogen traps that hinder the accumulation of hydrogen at potential crack nucleation *** addition,much like Nb-free steel,the Nb-bearing steel exhibits both H-solution strengthening and the resistance to HIC.

In this work,experiments to examine the recycling of ionic liquids(ILs)from aqueous solution by nanofiltration(NF)were *** influences of pH,ionic strength,and macromolecular organic matter on filtration performance metrics including the volume flux(J_(v))and observed rejection(R_(obs))were systematically *** solutions of three widely studied ILs,specifically 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride([C_(4)mim]Cl),1-decyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride([C_(10)mim]Cl),and 1-buty 1-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate([C_(4)mim]BF_(4))were selected for this *** mechanisms of interaction between the ILs and the NF membrane under different pH and ionic-strength conditions were revealed by quantum chemical calculations and molecular *** results showed that with increasing pH,the J_(v) and R_(obs)values of the[C_(4)mim]Cl and[C_(10)mim]Cl aqueous solutions increased,while for the[C_(4)mim]BF_(4)aqueous solution,the J_(v) value increased and the R_(obs)value ***,with increasing ionic strength,the J_(v) values of the[C_(4)mim]Cl and[C_(4)mim]BF_(4)aqueous solutions decreased,and their R_(obs)values increased;conversely,for the[C_(10)mim]Cl aqueous solution,the R_(obs)value decreased,and the J_(v) vale first increased and then *** addition,it was found that the presence of macromolecular organic matter tends to cause membrane fouling and has a great influence on the separation of aqueous solutions of ILs by *** general,membrane fouling leads to an increase in the R_(obs)value but a decrease in the J_(v) value.
