A commercial.y avail.bl. dental.Gl.ss Ionomer Cement (GIC) was studied after setting at room temperature (300 K) to understand its DC el.ctrical.conductivity, diel.ctric and thermal.properties. The dental.GIC’s are supposed to have free mobil. charge carriers l.ke F- ions. Interestingl. this material.l.ses its conductivity above 80°C and behaves l.ke a non-pol.r substance. The frequency dependent diel.ctric studies al.o indicate the l.ss of mobil. charge carriers in the sampl.s anneal.d at 80°C. The DSC and TGA studies indicate that the material.l.ses H2O exothermical.y at 100°C. This is attributed to the onset of a secondary setting reaction.

Frequent fail.res due to foreign particl. impacts are observed in compressor bl.des of the interceptor fighter MIG-23 aircraft engines in the Ethiopian air force,suppl.ed by the Dejen Aviation Industry.In this paper,we made an attempt to identify the causes of fail.re and hence recommend the suitabl. material. to withstand the foreign particl. impacts.Modal.and stress anal.sis of one of the recentl. fail.d MIG-23 gas turbine compressor bl.des made up of the fol.owing Al.minum based al.oys:6061-T6,7075-T6,and 2024-T4,has been performed,apart from the impact anal.sis of the rotor bl.des hit by a granite stone.The numerical.resul.s are correl.ted to the practical.observations.Based on the modal.stress and impact anal.sis and the material.properties of the three considered al.oys,al.oy 7075-T6 has been recommended as the bl.de material.

Temperature dependent DC el.ctrical.conductivity studies of GeO2 substituted l.ad vanadate gl.ss systems xGeO2(50-x)PbO:50V2O5 (x = 5, 10, 15 mol.%) were carried out and the resul.s are reported. X-ray diffraction resul.s reveal.that al. sampl.s are perfect amorphous in nature. DSC resul.s indicate that the substituent GeO2 is repl.cing PbO in the gl.ss network in such a way that the eutectic composition is maintained. DC el.ctrical.conductivity studies of the gl.ss sampl.s indicate that the systems are characterized by different activation energies in different temperature ranges which in turn depend on the anneal.ng temperature. These resul.s are interpreted in terms of temperature dependent microstructural.changes in these gl.ss systems.

The Rb-Sr whol.-rock isochron,age 1636±66 Ma of Mirgarani granite,is the one of the ol.est granite dated in the northwestern part of the Chhotanagpur Granite Gneiss Compl.x(CGGC).The initial.Sr ratio is 0.715±0.012(MSWD=0.11),showing an S-type affinity.The Mirgarani granite has intruded the migmatite compl.x of the Dudhi Group and forms the Mirgarani formation comparabl. to the granites of the Bihar Mica Bel. around Hazaribagh(1590±30 Ma).The present studies have establ.shed the chronostratigraphy of the Dudhi Group and adjoining areas in CGGC.Petro-graphic and geochemical.studies reveal.d that the granite is enriched in Rb(271 ppm),Pb(77 ppm),Th(25 ppm),and U(33 ppm)and depl.ted in Sr(95 ppm),Nb(16 ppm),Ba(399 ppm)and Zr(143 ppm)contents as compared to the normal.granite.The Mirgarani granite is a peral.minous(A/CNK=1.23),high potassic(K_(2)O 6.42%),Cal.-Al.al.c to Al.al.-Cal.ic{(Na_(2)O+K_(2)O)-CaO=6.29}S-Type granite,a feature supported by the presence of modal.garnet and normative corundum(2.68%).The Mirgarani granite is considered to have been formed by the anatexis of a crustal.sedimentary protol.th at a depth of approximatel. 30 km with temperatures ranging from 685-700℃ during the Co-l.mbian-Nuna Supercontinent.

Epoxy gl.ss fiber l.minate composite (PMCs) are finding ever increasing appl.cations in aerospace and automobil. industries due to its high strength to weight ratio and resistance to aqueous environment. Additions of particul.te reinforcements in the pol.mer matrix are reported to improve the Interl.minar Shear Strength and Interl.minar Fracture Toughness of the composites. In the present investigation, epoxy gl.ss fiber l.minate composites were processed using hand l.yup and vacuum bagging technique. The particul.te reinforcement precipitator fl. ash (25 - 45 μm) was added in the epoxy matrix by mechanical.mixing up to 10 wt%. The effects of fl. ash reinforcement on the mechanical.properties and Interl.minar Fracture Toughness were studied before and after exposure to aqueous fog in a sal. fog chamber at 45°C. In unexposed condition Mode I interl.minar fracture toughness of epoxy gl.ss fiber l.minate composite improved by the addition of fl. ash reinforcement 10% (By weight) by 49.43% and when it was subjected to aqueous fog for 10 days the interl.minar fracture toughness improved 58.42%. Exposure to aqueous fog for 10 days causes pl.sticization of resin matrix and weakening of fiber/matrix interface resul.s in improvement in interl.minar fracture toughness. The fracture surfaces were anal.zed using scanning el.ctron microscopy.

n.m, n.Om, nO.m and nO.Om compounds pl.y an important rol. in the fundamental.and appl.ed aspects. As a part of our systematic studies of the above homol.gous series regarding the synthesis, characterization and phase transition studies, here the authors report the pol.rizabil.ties and orientational.order parameter, S in N-(p-n-ethoxybenzyl.dene)-p-n-al.oxy anil.nes, 2O.Om with m = 3 to 10 l.quid crystal.ine compounds except with m = 5 which has been al.eady publ.shed. The rest of the compounds exhibit the nematic l. phase except with m = 10 which shows the smectic-C phase al.ng the nematic phase which is original.y not detected by Godzwon et al. But the author’s observations with TM and differential.scanning cal.rimeter have shown the existence on SmC phase in addition to nematic phase. Further, SmC is cl.rified using the histogram technique whose detail. are given bel.w and are publ.shed el.ewhere. The orientstonal.order parameter, S is estimated using different methods and compared with the val.e obtained from birefringence, δn = (ne – no) where no fiel. model.is used. It is observed in these compounds case as in other l. compounds Vuks isotropic model.is favored compared to that of anisotropic model.proposed by Neugebauer.

In the present research, a series of 5,6-bis aryl.1,2,4-triazines 5a^5f were synthesized by condensation of various benzil. 4a^4f with aminoguanidine bicarbonate and were screened in vivo, for their anticonvul.ant and neurotoxicity studies. Compounds 5a, 5b and 5d were found to be potent mol.cul.s of this series, when compared with the reference drugs phenytoin sodium, diazepam and l.motrigine. The structures of these compounds were establ.shed by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and mass spectroscopic data.
