The vortex self-organization is investigated in this paper by four groups of numerical experiments within the framework of quasi-geostrophic model, and based on the experimental results two types of possible mechanisms for vortex self-organization are suggested. The meso-scale to-pography may enable separated vortices to merge into a larger scale vortex; and the interaction of meso-γ and meso-β scale systems may make separated vortices to self organize a typhoon-like vor-tex circulation.

The essential characteristic of DNA computation is its massive parallelism in obtaining and managing information. With the develop- ment of molecular biology technique, the eld of DNA computation has made a great progress. By using an advanced biochip technique, laboratory-on-a-chip, a new DNA computing model is presented in the paper to solve a simple timetabling problem, which is a special ver- sion of the optimization problems. It also plays an important role in education and other industries. With a simulated biological experiment, the result suggested that DNA computation with lab-on-a-chip has the potential to solve a real complex timetabling problem.

We study the direct product decomposition of quantum many-valued algebras (QMV algebras) which generalizes the decomposition theorem of ortholattices (orthomodular lattices).In detail,for an idempo- tent element of a given QMV algebra,if it commutes with every element of the QMV algebra,it can induce a direct product decomposition of the QMV *** the same time,we introduce the commutant c(S) of a set S in a QMV algebra,and prove that when S consists of idempotent elements,c(S) is a subalgebra of the QMV *** also generalizes the cases of orthomodular lattices.

Using the elastic wave continuum model, we investigate the effect of material properties on ballistic thermal transport in a cylindrical nanowire. A comparative analysis for the convexity-shaped and concavity-shaped structure is made. It is found that in the convexity-shaped structure, the material with higher wave velocity in the convexity region can increase the thermal conductance at the lower temperature range; the thermal conductance of the nanowire with higher wave velocity in the convexity region is lower than that of the nanowire with lower wave velocity in the convexity region at the higher temperature range. However, in the concavity-shaped structure, the material properties of the concavity region have less effect on the thermal conductance at the lower temperature range; the material with higher wave velocity in the concavity region can reduce the thermal conductance at the higher temperature range. A brief analysis of these results is given.

A multicluster packet collision resolution (PcR) scheme is a kind of recently proposed virtualMIMO techniques. In existing multicluster PcR schemes, a large-scale wireless Ad Hoc network is divided into clusters and the single cluster PcR scheme is applied independently to resolve collisions in each cluster. However, there are still some flaws in existing multicluster PcR schemes. In this paper, by presenting a concise theoretical analysis model and a new cNS algorithm, a novel multicluster PcR scheme is proposed. Analysis and simulation results show that the proposed scheme can obtain high performance gain with low complexity. The proposed scheme is more robust and applicable than existing schemes.
