Translational animal models for oral mucositis(Om)are necessary to simulate and assess the bioclinical effects and response in *** models should simulate high levels of radiation exposure that leads to oxidative stress and inflammatoryinitiated tissue *** models have been extensively studied to observe pathological effects of radiation exposure and help in the development of effective *** successfully evaluate the potential for treatment regimens with consistency and relevance,a radiation-induced Om hamster model was developed using a clinical linear accelerator utilized by cancer patients *** dose exposure to the isolated,everted cheek pouch of a hamster,as well as the progression of injury,proinflammatory marker,histological,and elasticity analyses of the buccal pouch were conducted to verify replicability and reproducibility of the injury *** findings from this model demonstrated its ability to consistently induce injury and resolution over 28 days using an acute dose of 60 *** model was developed to enhance clinical relevance when evaluating potential efficacious treatments and can now be utilized in efficacy studies to better evaluate developed therapeutics in a preclinical model that is easy to translate to clinical studies..

This study investigated the impact of important environmental variables （i.e., wind speed, solar radiation and cloud cover） on urban heating. meteorological parameters for fifteen years （from 1990 to 2005）, collected at a well developed and densely populated commercial area （Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong）, were analyzed in details. Urban heat island intensity （UHII）, a well known indicator of urban heating, has been determined as the spatially averaged air-temperature difference between Tsim Sha Tsui and Ta Kwu Ling （a thinly populated rural area with lush vegetation）. Results showed that the UHII and cloud cover have increased by around 9.3% and 4%, respectively, whereas the wind speed and solar radiation have decreased by around 24% and 8.5%, respectively. The month of December experienced the highest UHII （10.2℃） but the lowest wind speed （2.6 m/sec） and cloud cover （3.8 oktas）. Conversely, the month of April observed the highest increases in the UHII （over 100%） and the highest decreases in wind speed （over 40 %） over fifteen years. Notably, the increases in the UHII and reductions in the wind speed were the highest during the night-time and early morning. Conversely, the intensity of solar radiation reduced while the intensity of urban cool island （UCII） increased during solar noon-time. Results demonstrated strong negative correlation between the UHII and wind speed （coefficient of determination, R^2 = 0.8） but no negative correlation between UCII and solar radiation attenuation. A possible negative correlation between UHII and cloud cover was investigated but could not be substantiated.

Socioeconomic and environmental losses caused by water erosion have highlighted the importance of quantifying and understanding the dynamics of soil redistribution in the landscape to develop effective soil management *** methods are applied to estimate erosion/deposition rates and identify sources of sediments,among them,the one that uses rare earth elements(REE)as a tracer stands ***,an alternative not yet explored that can benefit the accuracy of the estimates provided by the method is using a tracer containing a chemical signature composed of more than one *** present study aimed to evaluate the performance of a new water erosion tracer based on montmoril-lonite labeled with rare earth elements(La40-mmT).The innovative aspects of this La40-mmT tracer include its highly stable multi-chemical signature(Nd^(3+),La^(3+),and Pr^(3+)),which enhances tracer detection in the environment,and its low production cost due to the use of an industrial residue in the synthesis *** tracer was evaluated for a typical soil of the Cerrado biome,using a natural rainfall field-scale plot-NRFP(5 m × 20 m)and a physical predictive erosion model(WEPP).The results showed that the La40-mmT tracer could be used to estimate erosion/deposition rates,with agreement between the values observed with the tracer and the WEPP ***,this study confirmed the great potential of La40-mmT as a tool to identify patterns of soil redistribution at the field scale and aid in the validation of erosion models.

Decarbonisation of district heating and cooling(DHC)system in Helsinki metropolitan area requires investments in new energy technologies and approaches to replace fossil fuel fired district heating(DH)***-ment paths involving(a)DH heat pumps(HPs)from low quality heat sources and(b)small modular nuclear reactors(SmR)are compared by utilising investment analysis based on optimisation model depicting the as-sumed 2030 *** scenarios,with varying assumptions concerning existing DHC system,investment costs and electricity prices,are analysed in terms of new capacity and total annualised *** results indicate that the SmR option is more cost-efficient than the HP option with 4-8€/mWh difference in operation costs including annualised *** fired boiler investments,enabled in both options,are preferred to HP investments in most *** cost-efficiency of HP investments is sensitive to investment cost,whereas SmR investments are relatively stable to investment cost *** electricity market prices affect cost-efficiency of large-scale HPs,and investments in SmR cogeneration units take place only with high electricity prices.

Changes in land cover have a direct impact on forest ecosystem goods and services. In this study, changes in land cover in Sierra de Juarez–Oaxaca ecosystems were estimated using a consistent processing of Landsat images and OBIA methodology. Additionally, landscape analyses using FRAGSTAT were conducted. In 2014, Sierra de Juarez–Oaxaca was covered by approximately 84% of forests, mainly pine-oak and cloud forests. After extensive deforestation until 2001, this trend was reversed and the forest cover surface area in 2014 was slightly higher than in 1979. The comparison of the landscape structure of the forested and agricultural lands suggests an increase in habitat heterogeneity. However, interspersion and juxtaposition indices, showing the patch shape by patch area and perimeter, were similar throughout the study period(1979–2014). Social and economic drivers can explain this situation: namely, community organization, forest enterprises, payment for ecosystem services programs, and changes of agricultural activity. Communities in the Sierra of Oaxaca have reforested degraded lands, created community forest enterprises, and preserved the forest under conservation schemes like those proposed by the mexican payment for ecosystem services programs. However, their sustainable management faces internal challenges and has become highly dependent on political and institutional decisions beyond their control.

参考IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria,Version 3.1的等级和标准,我们于2010年3月至2012年12月对251种(含种下分类群)国产裸子植物的濒危状况进行了评估,并依据最新的研究动态,对结果做了少量修订。结果显示极危37种,濒危35种,易危76种,无危87种,数据缺乏16种;受威胁种类占评估裸子植物总数的59%。生境退化、分布面积过小和过度利用是主要的致危因子。结合实际保护案例,我们提出裸子植物濒危物种保育应有针对性措施,过度保护会进一步导致它们的濒危。
