We describe a class of self-dual dark nonlinear dynamical systems a priori allowing their quasilinearization,whose integrability can be effectively studied by means of a geometrically based gradient-holonomic approach.A special case of the self-dual dynamical system,parametrically dependent on a functional variable is considered,and the related integrability condition is *** this integrability scheme,we study a new self-dual,dark nonlinear dynamical system on a smooth functional manifold,which models the interaction of atmospheric magnetosonic Alfvén plasma *** prove that this dynamical system possesses a Lax representation that allows its full direct linearization and compatible Poisson ***,for this selfdual nonlinear dynamical system we construct an infinite hierarchy of mutually commuting conservation laws and prove its complete integrability.

This study reports the development and performance of a pilot-scale barrel atmospheric plasma reactor for the atmospheric plasma activation treatment of polymer particles. The polymer particles treated included acrylonitrile butadiene styrene(ABS) and polypropylene(PP). These particles had diameters in the range of 3–5 mm. The initial studies were carried out using a laboratory-scale barrel reactor designed to treat polymer particle batch sizes of 20 g. A pilot-scale reactor that could treat 500 g particle batch sizes was then developed to facilitate pre-industrial-scale treatments. The effect of operating pulse density modulation(PDm) in the range 10%–100% and plasma treatment time on the level of activation of the treated polymers were then investigated. ABS revealed a larger decrease in water contact angle compared with PP after plasma treatment under the same conditions. The optimal treatment time of ABS(400 g of polymer particles) in the pilot-scale reactor was 15 min. The plasma-activated polymer particles were used to fabricate dog-bone polymer parts through injection *** testing of the resulting dog-bone polymer parts revealed a 10.5% increase in tensile strength compared with those fabricated using non-activated polymer particles.

With the growing importance of the black soldier fly(Hermetia illucens)for both sustainable food production and waste management as well as for science,a great demand of understanding its immune system ***,we present the first description of the circulating larval hemocytes with special emphasis on uptake of microorganisms and distinguishing hemocyte *** histological,zymographic,and cytometric methods and with a set of hemocyte binding lectins and antibodies,the hemocytes of *** are identified as plasmatocytes,crystal cells,and putative *** hemocyte counts(THC)are determined,and methods for THC determination are *** 1100 hemocytes per microliter hemolymph are present in naive animals,while hemocyte density decreases dramatically shortly after wounding,indicating a role of hemocytes in response to wounding(and immune response in general).The determination of the relative abundance of each hemocyte type(differential hemocyte count,DHC)revealed that plasmatocytes are highly abundant,whereas prohemocytes and crystal cells make up only a small percentage of the circulating *** are not only the most abundant but also the professional phagocytes in *** rapidly engulf and take up bacteria both in vivo and in vitro,indicating a very potent cellular defense against invading *** bioparticles such as yeasts are also removed from circulation by phagocytosis,but slower than *** is the first analysis of the potent cellular immune response in the black soldier fly,and a first toolbox that helps to identify hemocyte(types)is presented.

Polycrystalline powders of (1–x)Na_(0.5)Bi_(0.5)TiO_3–xCaTiO_3 ((1–x)NBT–xCT, 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.55) have been synthesized by solid state route. The effects of simultaneous substitution of Na^+/Bi^(3+) at A-site in NBT on structural and dielectric properties were investigated. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed the phase transition from rhombohedral structure(x = 0) to orthorhombic structure(x ≥0.15). A distinct behaviour in dielectric properties was obtained, where for x = 0, a normal ferroelectric behaviour was observed, whereas for x ≥ 0.15, a broad dielectric anomaly was revealed such that the maximum temperature(T_m) strongly depended on the frequency and shifted towards low temperature with CT. The dielectric dispersion indicated a relaxor behaviour revealed by the degree of diffuseness and modelled via Vogel–Fulcher relation. The study highlighted the relaxor behaviour as a function of frequency and proved the transformation from a relaxor high-frequency dependence to a paraelectric phase at temperature T_s. The distinct variation of the Raman spectra at room temperature was correlated with X-ray diffraction results and proved the already mentioned transition. On heating(-193–500 ℃), the Raman spectra confirmed the structural stability(Pnma) of the materials. The phonon behaviour for x = 0.15 was discussed in terms of the appearance of polar nanoregions(PNRs) into a non-polar orthorhombic matrix responsible of the relaxor behaviour. For x = 0.20, unchanged phonon behaviour confirmed the variation in dielectric behaviour where the solids transformed from a relaxor to a paraelectric state without structural phase transition.

The accurate representation of tribological boundary conditions at the tool–workpiece interface is crucial for analysis and optimization of formability,material flow,and surface quality of components during metal forming *** has been found that these tribological conditions vary spatially and historically with process parameters and contact *** time-dependent tribological behaviours are also known as transient tribological phenomena,which are widely observed during forming processes and many other manufacturing application ***,constant friction values are usually assigned to represent complex and dynamic interfacial conditions,which would introduce deviations in the relevant *** this paper,transient tribological phenomena and the contemporary understanding of the interaction between friction and wear are reviewed,and it has been found that these phenomena are induced by the transitions of friction mechanisms and highly dependent on complex loading conditions at the *** modelling techniques for transient behaviours for metal forming applications are also *** accurately describe the evolutionary friction values and corresponding wear during forming,the advanced interactive friction modelling has been established for different application scenarios,including lubricated condition,dry sliding condition(metal-on-metal contact),and coated system.

The transient tribological phenomenon and premature lubricant breakdown have been widely observed in metal forming,leading to excessive friction at the contact *** this research,the transient tribological behaviour of a two-phase lubricant were studied under complex loading conditions,featuring abrupt interfacial temperature,contact load,and sliding speed changes,thus representing the severe interfacial conditions observed in warm/hot metal forming *** strong experimental evidence indicates that the evolution of friction was attributed to the physical diminution and chemical decomposition *** such,a visco-mechanochemical interactive friction model was developed to accurately predict the transient tribological behaviour of the two-phase lubricant under complex loading *** new friction model exhibited close agreements between the modelling and experimental results.

Particle size fraction(clay, silt, and sand) is an important characteristic that influences several soil functions. The laser-diffraction method(LDm) provides a fast and cost-effective measurement of particle size distribution, but the results usually differ from those obtained by the traditional sieve-pipette method(SPm). This difference can persist even when calibration is applied between the two methods. This partly relates to the different size ranges of particles measured by the two methods as a result of different operational principles, i.e., particle sedimentation according to Stokes’ Law vs. mie theory for laser beam scattering. The objective of this study was to identify particle size ranges of LDm equivalent to those measured by SPm and evaluate whether new calibration models based on size range correction can be used to improve LDm-estimated particle size fractions, using 51 soil samples with various texture collected from five soil orders in New Zealand. Particle size distribution was determined using both LDm and SPm. Compared with SPm, original data from LDm underestimated the clay fraction(m), overestimated the silt fraction(2–53 μm), but provided a good estimation of the sand fraction(53–2 000 μm).Results from three statistical indices, including Pearson’s correlation coefficient, slope, and Lin’s concordance correlation coefficient, showed that the size ranges of m defined by SPm corresponded with the m size ranges by LDm, respectively. Compared with the traditional calibration(based on the same particle size ranges), new calibration models(based on the corrected size ranges of these two methods) improved the estimation of clay and silt contents by LDm. Compared with soil-specific models(i.e., different models were developed for different soils), a universal model may be more parsimonious for estimating particle size fractions if the samples to be assessed represent multiple soil orders.

Recent advances in quantum dots （QDs） for classical and non-classical light sources are presented. We have established metal organic chemical vapor deposition （mOCVD） technology for InAs-based QD lasers at 1.3 μm and achieved ultralow threshold in QD lasers with photonic crystal （PhC） nanocavity. In addition, single photon emitters at 1.55 μm, GaN-based single photon sources operating at 200 K, and high-Q PhC nanocavity have been demonstrated.
