Gradient microstructure and superior strength-ductility synergy of AZ61 magnesium alloy bars processed by radial forging with different deformation temperatures

Gradient microstructure modification is a cost-efficient strategy for high strength without compromising ductility,which is urgently needed in the fundamental science of engineering *** this study,heterogeneous structures of AZ61 alloy bars with anisotropic gradients(with different grain size distributions from the surface to the center)were observed to exhibit strong strength-ductility synergies under different deformation tem *** results reveal that the grain refinement process under mediumlow temperature deformation conditions(≤350℃)consists of four transition stages along the radial direction,i.e.,twin activations and deformation band formations,dislocation cells and pile-ups,ultrafine sub-grains,and randomly orientated quasi-micron *** deformation temperatures have a great influence on twin activations and deformation band formations,and the high temperature can easily provoke the initiation of non-basal *** deformation bands were determined as a primary nucleation site due to their highly unstable dislocation hindrance *** in combination with the Radial forging(RF)deformation process,the differences of dynamic precipitates can be attributed to microstructural difference and solubility limit of Al at different tem *** summarizing the tensile test results,the sample forged at 350℃exhibited the best strength-ductility synergy,exhibiting the highest elongation(el)of 23.2%with a 251 mPa yield strength(YS)and 394 mPa ultimate tensile strength(UTS)in center region,and combined with the highest strength value of 256 mPa YS and 420 mPa UTS in the center region,while the el was slightly degraded to 19.8%.

Profile of Autoimmune Polyendocrinopathies at the medical Clinic II of the Abass Ndao Hospital: About 40 Cases

Introduction: Autoimmune polyendocrinopathies (AP) represent a group of rare concomitant pathologies, making them underdiagnosed. The objective was to study their profile at the medical Clinic II of the Abass Ndao Hospital. Patients and methods: This was an observational, descriptive and analytical study, lasting 24 months, from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2022. We assessed the epidemiological, clinical and paraclinical characteristics of the patients and classified the APs found. Results: We included 40 patients divided into type III (38 cases) and IV (2 cases). A female predominance was noted with a sex ratio of 0.21. The mean age was 38.6 years. A family history of component diseases of autoimmune polyendocrine syndrome (APS) was found in 62.5%. Goiter (80%) was the main clinical sign present. All 38 patients with ISAP-3 had autoimmune thyroiditis, including 29 cases of Graves’ disease (72.5%) and 9 cases of Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (22.5%). They were associated with either type 1 diabetes (57.9%), Biermer’s disease (21.1%), vitiligo + alopecia (18.4%), lupus (2.6%). The 2 patients with AP-4 had Biermer’s disease associated with either Addison’s disease or type 1 diabetes. management depended on the pathologies present and their possible complications. The immunological phenomena were also controlled. Conclusion: This series is globally similar to the literature. The polymorphous character of the clinical pictures requires a better collaboration between specialists leading to a clinical and holistic synthesis.

Nephronophthisis-related ciliopathies(NPHP-RC)represent one of the most common causes of chronic kidney disease in the first three decades of life and are characterized by a broad genetic and clinical heterogeneity.1 To date,more than 90 genes have been identified that cause autosomalrecessive NPHP-RC if mutated,accounting for up to 60%of cases.1 Among these,homozygous deletions of NPHP1 are the most common *** genes localize to primary cilia,basal bodies,or the centrosome and lead to a primary ciliary disruption if mutated,thereby causing a broad phenotypical spectrum.1 Patients that suffer from NPHP-RC can either have an isolated renal phenotype,such as polyuria,polydipsia,decreased urinary concentration ability,and secondary enuresis due to loss of tubular function,or present with extrarenal symptoms including retinal degeneration,cerebellar vermis hypoplasia,or hepatic *** are often diagnosed in early adolescence,reaching end-stage renal disease before 25 years of age,but early onset and rapidly progressive forms of NPHP-RC also exist.1 Renal ultrasound indicates kidneys of normal or reduced renal length with increased echogenicity and corticomedullary cysts.

Inter-annual variations of dissolved oxygen and hypoxia off the northern Changjiang River(Yangtze River) Estuary in summer from 1997 to 2014

Hypoxia off the Changjiang River Estuary has been the subject of much attention,yet systematic observations have been lacking,resulting in a lack of knowledge regarding its long-term change and *** revisiting the repeated surveys of dissolved oxygen(DO) and other relevant hydrographic parameters along the section from the Changjiang River Estuary to the Jeju-do in the summer from 1997 to 2014,rather different trends were revealed for the dual low-DO *** nearshore low-DO core,located close to the river mouth and relatively stable,shows that hypoxia has become more severe with the lowest DO descen ding at a rate of -0.07 mg/(L·a) and the thickness of low-DO zone rising at a rate of 0.43 m/*** offshore core,centered around 40-m isobath but moving back and forth between 123.5°-125°E,shows large fluctuations in the minimum DO concentration,with the thickness of low-DO zone falling at a rate of -1.55 m/*** probable factors affecting the minimum DO concentration in the two regions also *** the nearshore region,the decreasing minimum DO is driven by the increase in both stratification and primary productivity,with the enhanced extension of the Changjiang River Diluted Water(CDW) strengthening *** the offshore region,the fluctuating trend of the minimum DO concentration indicates that both DO loss and DO supplement are *** DO loss is primarily attributed to bottom apparent oxygen utilization caused by the organic matter decay and is also relevant to the advection of low-DO water from the nearshore *** DO supplement is primarily due to weakened *** analysis also shows that the minimum DO concentration in the nearshore region was extremely low in 1998,2003,2007 and 2010,related to el Ni?o signal in these summers.

The Salvadora persica(***)*** stick,usually known as miswak,is still being em-ployed as an oral hygiene agent for plaque and gingivitis *** study aims to assess the antibacterial,antibiofilm,antioxidant,and phytochemical profile of *** *** ***-sica was purchased from a local market,grinded and extracted with petroleum *** disk dif-fusion,microdilution,and micro-plate assays were performed to evaluate the antibacterial and an-tibiofilm activities of the prepared extract at different concentrations against𝛽-lactam resistance Streptococcus *** radical scavenging 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH)and stable radical cationic chromophore,2,2-azinobis-(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonate)(ABTS)methods were used to determine their antioxidant *** and spectrometric analyses were performed using gas chromatography-mass(GC-mS)*** minimum inhibitory concentration(mIC)of *** extract against𝛽-lactam resistance Streptococcus species ranged from 6.25 to 12.5 mg/*** maximum suppression of biofilm formation by *** extract was observed at mIC with a percentage of 68.66%,against Streptococcus *** *** ex-tract exhibited antioxidant activity with IC 50 of 20μg/mL and 35μg/mL from DPPH and ABTS,*** phytochemical characterization showed the presence of 22 compounds with ma-jor compounds;benzyl isothiocyanate(36.21%)and n-hexadecanoic acid(27.62%).The *** extract exhibited antibacterial activity against𝛽-lactam resistant Streptococcus species,showing a promising natural alternative that could be a treatment option.

An approach named direct reaction synthesis (DRS) has been developed to fabricate particulate composites with an extremely fine reinforcement size. ID situ Al matrix composites were fabri-cated by DRS. Extensive analysis of the composites microstructure using SEm and TEm identify that the reinforcement formed during the DRS process is Ti carbide (TiC) particle, generally less than 1.0 μm. The reacted, semisolid extruded samples exhibit a homogeneous distribution of fine TiC particles in Al-Cu matrix, mechanical property evaluation of the composites has revealed a very high tensile strength relative to the matrix alloy. Fractographic analysis indicates ductile failure although the ductility and strength are limited by the presence of coarse titanium aluminides (Al3Ti).

Solution-processed quantum dot SnO_(2) as an interfacial electron transporter for stable fully-air-fabricated metal-free perovskite solar cells

Perovskite solar cells could strongly compete with the silicon solar cells in the market soon as illustrated in recent *** this work,promising and stable metal-free perovskite solar cells(PSCs)has been successfully fabricated using an inorganic SnO_(2)/Quantum dot SnO_(2)(QD-SnO_(2))double layer as an efficient electron transport layer via a low-temperature solution *** fully-air fabricated PSCs in the form of FTO/SnO_(2)/QD-SnO_(2)/CH3NH3PbI3/Carbon were tested at different annealed QD-SnO_(2) between 300 and 500℃.The as-prepared QD-SnO_(2) and the fabricated devices are characterized by various techniques,including XRD,XPS,HR-TEm,FE-SEm,UVeviseNIR spectroscopy,PL,and solar *** prepared QD-SnO_(2) at 300℃ has shown well-ordered nanoparticles of 5.6 nm in diameter with superior carrier density(1.5×10^(15) cm^(-3))and highest carrier mobility(64.1 cm^(2)·V^(-1)·s^(-1)),accelerating the carriers separation process within the *** best devices demonstrated a maximum power conversion effi-ciency(PCE)of 11.7%,VOC 0.81 V,JSC 19.5 ma·cm^(-2),and FF 74%.The presence of an interfacial layer of QDSnO_(2) over the blocking SnO_(2) upsurges the band gaps alignment and accelerates the carriers extraction rate affecting the performance of the fabricated perovskite ***,the optimized fabricated devices revealed a shelf stability-life of four months in humid air(40%-50%)with>83%of its initial *** simple synthetic approach can develop the opportunities to transfer the cell from the lab to the market,which will be compatible with large-scale production.

Harmful effects of pyrethroid ester insecticide on the male reproductive system mainly through affecting testicular function and inflammatory markers

Pyrethroid esters are widely used as insecticides worldwide. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the harmful effect of deltamethrin on the male reproductive system through the assessment of reproductive hormones, inflammatorymarkers, and testicular function. To achieve our aim, eighty male 7-9-week-old, Wistar rats were taken, weighed, and divided into four experimental groups. The first group was kept as a control group, and the other three groups were given deltamethrin orally at different concentrations (0.87, 8.7, and 17.4 mg/kg body weight) for nine weeks. The resultsindicated that deltamethrin administration associated with a significant decrease in reproductive hormones, especially FSH, LH, and significant elevation in the interleukin 2 (IL2), interleukin 6 (IL6), histamine, and cortisol levels. Also, thesignificance of inhibition of sperm motility and viability, decreased testis weights, sperm count, and fructose in semen were noted. These findings clarify the harmful effect of deltamethrin on the male reproductive system by producing a significant alteration in reproductive hormones, inflammatory markers as well as testicular function.
