Transistor size is constantly being reduced to improve performance as w.ll as pow.r consumption. For the channel length to be reduced, the corresponding gate dielectric thickness should also be reduced. Unfortunately, graphene devices are more complicated due to an extra capacitance called quantum capacitance （CQ） w.ich limits the effective gate dielectric reduction. In this w.rk, w. analyzed the effect of CQ on device-scaling issues by extracting it from scaling of the channel length of devices. In contrast to previous reports for metal-insulator- metal structures, a practical device structure w.s used in conjunction w.th direct radio-frequency field-effect transistor measurements to describe the graphene channels. In order to precisely extract device parameters, w. reassessed the equivalent circuit, and concluded that the on-state model should in fact be used. By careful consideration of the underlap region, our device modeling w.s show. to be in good agreement w.th the experimental data. CQ contributions to equivalent oxide thickness w.re analyzed in detail for varying impurity concentrations in graphene. Finally, w. w.re able to demonstrate that despite contributions from CQ, graphene＇s high mobility and low.voltage operation allow. for ~raphene channels suitable for next generation transistors.

Enlarged vestibular aqueduct(EVA), the most frequent identifiable cause of congenital hearing loss, is evaluated w.th high-definition multidetector CT in the axial plane. Our purpose w.s to determine w.ich reformatted CT measurements are most reproducible. Seven multiplanar reformatted images w.re created for each of the 64 temporal bones in patients w.th EVA. Intraclass correlation coefficients(ICC) w.re used to assess inter-observer variability, and both linear regression and ROC analyses w.re used to compare the measurements w.th severity of hearing loss, as assessed by pure tone audiometry. All seven measurements had excellent inter-observer variability, w.th average-measure ICC ranging from 0.92 to 0.98. There w.s no statistically significant correlation betw.en the radiologic degree of aqueduct enlargement and severity of hearing loss using any of the seven measurements; ROC analyses revealed areas under the curves ranging from 0.57 to 0.73. Optimal accuracy w.s obtained w.th a threshold of 1.75 mm as measured at the aqueductal aperture in the P€oschl plane, w.th sensitivity of 0.75 and specificity of0.63. Although the radiologic measurement may not serve as a reliable tool for assessing severity of EVA, P€oschl plane reformatting has proven to be better than conventional axial acquisition plane for identifying patients w.th clinically significant hearing loss.

A long-term pilot-scale H_(2)-based membrane biofilm reactor(MBfR)w.s tested for removal of nitrate from actual groundw.ter.A key feature of this secondgeneration pilot MBfR is that it employed low.r cost polyester hollow.fibers and still achieved high loading *** steady-state maximum nitrate surface loading at w.ich the effluent nitrate and nitrite concentrations w.re below.the Maximum Contaminant Level(MCL)w.s at least 5.9 g·N·(m^(2)·d)^(–1),w.ich corresponds to a maximum volumetric loading of at least 7.7 kg·N·(m^(3)·d)^(–1).The steady-state maximum nitrate surface area loading w.s higher than the highest nitrate surface loading reported in the firstgeneration MBfRs using composite fibers(2.6 g·N·(m^(2)·d)^(–1)).This w.rk also evaluated the H_(2)-utilization efficiency in *** measured H_(2)supply rate w.s only slightly higher than the stoichiometric H_(2)-utilization ***,H_(2)utilization w.s controlled by diffusion and w.s close to 100%efficiency,as long as biofilm accumulated on the polyester-fiber surface and the fibers had no leaks.

Objective： The purpose of this study w.s to compare the effects of various taekw.ndo kicks and age （school level） in absolute terms and relative body mass on the resultant linear acceleration （RLA） of an instrumented head form. Methods： Forty-eight male （middle school： 16; high school： 16; university： 16） taekw.ndo athletes w.re recruited for this study. Subjects performed 10 turning, 10 jump spinning hook, and 10 jump back kicks on a Hybrid II head mounted on a height-adjustable frame. Results： A 2-w.y （School x Kick） MANOVA w.s used to determine the differences in RLA betw.en schools （age groups） by type of kick. There w.s no univariate School main effect for absolute RLA （η2 = 0.06） and RLA relative to body mass （η2 = 0.06）. No univariate Kick main effects w.re found for absolute （η2 = 0.06） and relative RLA （η2 = 0.06）. Conclusion： It is of concern that RLA did not significantly differ betw.en school levels, implying that young taekw.ndo athletes generate similar forces to their adult counterparts, possibly exposing young athletes to an increased risk for head ir^iuries.

Redox flow.batteries are considered a promising technology for grid energy ***,capacity decay caused by crossover of active materials is a universal challenge for many flow.battery systems,w.ich are based on various *** this paper,using the vanadium redox flow.battery as an example,w. demonstrate a new.gel polymer interface(GPI)consisting of crosslinked polyethyleneimine w.th a large amount of amino and carboxylic acid groups introduced betw.en the positive electrode and the *** GPI functions as a key component to prevent vanadium ions from crossing the membrane,thus supporting stable long-term *** voltammetry(CV)and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS)measurements w.re conducted to investigate the effect of GPI on the electrochemical properties of graphitic carbon electrodes(GCFs)and redox reaction of catholyte.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)and ^(1)H nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)spectra demonstrated that the crosslinked GPI is chemically stable for 100 cycles w.thout dissolution of polymers and sw.lling in the strong acidic *** from inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry(ICP-MS),Fourier-transform infrared(FTIR)spectroscopy,and energy-dispersive X-ray(EDX)spectroscopy proved that the GPI is effective in maintaining the concentration of vanadium species in their respective half-cells,resulting in improved cycling stability because of it prevents active species from crossing the membrane and stabilizes the oxidation states of active species.

Introduction: To evaluate the correlation betw.en the presence of an independent EHR (compared to a shared EHR system w.thin an adult hospital system) and an externally-derived third party ranking of children’s hospitals. Methods: Children’s hospitals that ranked in the top fifty of the 2019-2020 US New. and w.rld Report (USNw.) w.re included in the analysis. The mean and median ranking of children’s hospitals w.th independent versus a shared EHR w.s evaluated. The 2019-2020 USNw. rankings of the top tw.nty adult hospitals in the United States w.re then evaluated. For each children’s hospital w.th an associated adult hospital that w.s both ranked, it w.s noted as to w.ether the EHR for the children’s hospital w.s independent or shared and statistical differences in rankings compared. Results: Among the top 50 children’s hospitals included, the median USNw. ranking for hospitals w.s statistically different w.th an independent EHR than w.th a shared EHR (13 vs. 30.0) (p = 0.002). The 21 top ranked adult hospitals w.re associated w.th 17 children’s hospitals ranked in the top 50. The median ranking for those w.th an independent EHR w.s statistically different for those w.th independent EHR versus shared EHR (7 vs. 28) (p = 0.002). Conclusion: Children’s hospitals w.th an independent EHR are associated w.th higher scores on an independent external ranking of hospital quality compared to those w.ich share an EHR w.th a partner adult hospital.
