Aim:To review the choices of soft tissue coverage in distraction osteogenesis of the ***:A PubMed literature search yielded 14 articles included for systematic *** were extracted from each article if available(sample size,patient age,surgical indications,type of flap,use of additional modalities,method of bone osteogenesis,postoperative events,follow-up,satisfaction,weight-bearing status,and success rate).Unpaired t-tests were performed to compare complication rates.A retrospective review of three cases was also ***:Fourteen articles discussed 145 patients with a mean age of 33.4 years and 146 extremity injuries followed over 3.3 years on *** included chronic osteomyelitis or nonunion(58.2%)and acute trauma(41.8%).Average time from injury was 1.1 *** frame was used in 12 *** flaps(88.0%)or rotational flaps(12.0%)were used,with muscle flaps(96.7%)being most *** extremities received free latissimus dorsi or rectus abdominis *** grafts and antibiotic beads were often used in *** complications and reoperations were not uncommon(up to 30%),98.8%of patients on average were ultimately weight bearing and all articles reported>91%success ***,the rates of any complication were not statistically different between"fix and flap"protocol and flap or frame ***,a three-patient case series is ***:Bone transport with soft tissue reconstruction remains an excellent choice for patients with large bony defects or who are unable to undergo autologous bone *** one surgical approach to limb salvage is superior,and decision should be made on a case by case basis between the surgeon and the patient.

Identifying grey-rhino in eminent technologies via patent analysis

Purpose:Following the typical features of the grey-rhino event as predictability and profound influence,we attempt to find a special pattern called the grey-rhino in eminent technologies via patent ***/methodology/approach:We propose to combine triadic patent families and technology life cycle to define the grey-rhino ***,we design the indicator rhino-index rh=ST/SP and descriptor sequence{rh},where ST and SP are the accumulative number of triadic patent families and all patent families respectively for a specific ***,according to the two typical features of the grey-rhino event,a grey-rhino is defined as a technology that meets both qualitative and quantitative ***,this technology has a profound ***,in the emerging stage,rh≥rae,where rae is the average level of the proportion of triadic patent ***,this model is verified in three datasets,namely Encyclopedia Britannica’s list for the greatest inventions(EB technologies for short),MIT breakthrough technologies(MIT technologies)and Derwent Manual Code technologies(MAN technologies).Findings:The result shows that there are 64.71%EB technologies and 50.00%MIT technologies meeting the quantitative standard of the grey-rhino model,but only 14.71%MAN technologies fit the quantitative *** falling trend indicates the quantitative standard of the grey-rhino model is *** technologies and MIT technologies have profound influence on society,which means they satisfy the qualitative standard of the grey-rhino ***,64.71%EB technologies and 50.00%MIT technologies are *** 14.71%MAN technologies meeting the quantitative standard,we make some qualitative judgments and deem U11-A01A,U12-A01A1A,and W01-A01A as grey-rhino *** addition,grey-rhinos and non-grey-rhinos have some *** values of grey-rhinos have a downward trend,while rh values of non-grey-rhinos have a contrary *** valu

Scientific Value Weights more than Being Open or Toll Access:An analysis of the OA advantage in Nature and Science

Purpose:We attempt to find out whether OA or TA really affects the dissemination of scientific ***/methodology/approach:We design the indicators,hot-degree,and r-index to indicate a topic OA or TA ***,according to the OA classification of the Web of Science(WoS),we collect data from the WoS by downloading OA and TA articles,letters,and reviews published in Nature and Science during 2010–*** papers are divided into three broad disciplines,namely biomedicine,physics,and ***,taking a discipline in a journal and using the classical Latent Dirichlet Allocation(LDA)to cluster 100 topics of OA and TA papers respectively,we apply the Pearson correlation coefficient to match the topics of OA and TA,and calculate the hot-degree and r-index of every OA-TA topic ***,characteristics of the discipline can be *** qualitative comparison,we choose some high-quality papers which belong to Nature remarkable papers or Science breakthroughs,and analyze the relations between OA/TA and citation ***:The result shows that OA hot-degree in biomedicine is significantly greater than that of TA,but significantly less than that of TA in *** on the r-index,it is found that OA advantages exist in biomedicine and TA advantages do in ***,the dissemination of average scientific discoveries in all fields is not necessarily affected by OA or ***,OA promotes the spread of important scientific discoveries in high-quality *** limitations:We lost some citations by ignoring other open sources such as arXiv and *** limitation came from that Nature employs some strong measures for access-promoting subscription-based articles,on which the boundary between OA and TA became *** implications:It is useful to select hot topics in a set of publications by the hotdegree *** finding comprehensively reflects the differences of OA and TA in different disciplines,which is a u

Background:Newborn screening for Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is currently being initiated in Zhejiang Province,China and is under consideration in other countries,including the United *** China begins to implement DMD newborn screening (DMD-NBS),there is ongoing discussion regarding the steps forward for follow up care of positively identified patients as well as false positive and false negative *** sources:relevant papers related to DMD-NBS,and NBS in China were reviewed in ***:The current state of DMD-NBS is discussed,along with the steps needed to effectively screen infants for this disease in China,recommendations for establishment of follow up care in patients with positive and negative screens,and measurement of patient ***:Zhejiang Province,China is ready to implement *** challenges that exist for this program,and other countries,include the ability to track patients,assist with access to care,and ensure adequate follow-up care according to evidence-based *** addition,China's large rural population,lack of specialty providers,and difficulty in educating patients regarding the benefits of treatment create challenges that will need to be addressed.

Knee Osteoarthritis(KOA)is the most common type of knee joint injury and also a risk factor for multiple health consequences and is prevalent among older *** updated clinical guidelines for KOA treatment by the American rheumatism Association recommend Tai Chi ***,a literature review outlined limitations in Tai Chi intervention *** study aimed to address some of the *** study selected thirty female patients to participate in Tai Chi exercises and undergo relevant *** subjects were randomly assigned to Tai Chi or education *** sample t-tests were conducted to compare the difference in health indicators between the two groups after the *** difference-in-differences(DID)regression was performed to assess the difference in the health outcomes between the two groups at baseline and follow-up and the difference in the *** the completion of the intervention,the Tai Chi group reported significantly improved KOA symptoms,physical fitness,and health status indicators than the control ***,the group differences were significantly larger at the baseline than at the *** findings provide compelling evidence of the effects of the innovative Tai Chi exercise prescription specifically designed for KOA *** empirical evidence on its effectiveness in alleviating KOA symptoms and improving the overall health of middle-aged and elderly women with KOA suggested that Tai Chi intervention exercise has huge prospects for integration in KOA rehabilitation therapy.

Background:Older African Americans are more likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease(AD)than older Caucasians,and this difference cannot be readily explained by cerebrovascular and socioeconomic factors *** previously showed that mild cognitive impairment and AD dementia were associated with attenuated increases in the cerebrospinal fluid(CSF)levels of total and phosphorylated tau in African Americans compared to Caucasians,even though there was no difference in beta-amyloid 1–42 level between the two ***:We extended our work by analyzing early functional magnetic resonance imaging(fMrI)biomarkers of the default mode network in older African Americans and *** calculated connectivity between nodes of the regions belonging to the various default mode network subsystems and correlated these imaging biomarkers with non-imaging biomarkers implicated in AD(CSF amyloid,total tau,and cognitive performance).results:We found that race modifies the relationship between functional connectivity of default mode network subsystems and cognitive performance,tau,and amyloid ***:These findings provide further support that race modifies the AD phenotypes downstream from cerebral amyloid deposition,and identifies key inter-subsystem connections for deep imaging and neuropathologic characterization.

产生大陆壳的过程与产生其构造的过程截然不同。记载的陆壳最老年龄为4.0Ga,而其平均年龄仅约2.0Ga。这说明:(1)大陆壳的体积在地质历史时期内保持衡定,而只是不同部分因俯冲作用而产生或消减(分别为岩浆作用和循环进入地幔);或者(2)由于岩浆作用发育而几乎没有或根本没有地壳物质循环进入地幔,因此陆壳的体积随时问的持续在不断增加。稳态模式很类似于大洋壳的状况,后者现在具有55Ma的平均年龄,其循环间隔为110Ma。虽然密度大的洋壳易于俯冲,但对于陆壳俯冲的存在与否及其机理尚不很明确。
