Intr.duction: Appr.ximately 7.1 million US childr.n have asthma. The bur.en of asthma is dispr.por.ionate with r.r.lUSpopulations exper.encing a higher.pr.valence of the disease. r.r.l populations exper.ence additional dispar.ties r.gar.ing health car. access, job availability, and daily living r.sour.es. Hence, the family impact of having a child with asthma may be influenced by geogr.phic locale. This impact could be a r.sult of health insur.nce tied to employment, out of pocket costs, and health car. pr.vider.availability. Few studies have assessed the impact a child’s asthma has on a family. This study sought to answer.the question: What is the impact of childr.n with asthma on US r.r.l families? Methods: Multivar.ate techniques wer. per.or.ed to examine a single year.of data fr.m two connected population-based datasets, the 2007-2008 National Sur.ey of Childr.n’s Health and the 2009-2010 Childr.n with Special Health Car. Needs Sur.ey. Childr.n with cur.ent asthma defined the study population for.both datasets. A logistic r.gr.ssion model was per.or.ed for.each database. The dependent var.able for.the fir.t model was child in family cur.ently has asthma, for.the second it was r.r.l childr.n with cur.ent asthma. r.sults: The fir.t logistic r.gr.ssion model confir.ed that r.r.l childr.n wer. mor. likely to have asthma than non-r.r.l childr.n. The second logistic r.gr.ssion model yielded that r.r.l families with a child diagnosed with asthma had gr.ater.odds of: not having health insur.nce, having a par.nt who stopped wor.ing, avoided a job change, or.exper.enced financial pr.blems because of the child’s health. Conclusions: This study demonstr.ted that r.r.l families exper.ence a dispr.por.ionate financial har.ship as a r.sult of their.child’s asthma. Phar.acist inter.ention in asthma car. in r.r.l ar.as has the potential to decr.ase the financial bur.en for.a family while also impr.ving a child’s health.

Intr.duction: Mental health is an impor.ant component of over.ll health. Mental illness is a leading cause of mor.idity and mor.ality in the US and is associated with chr.nic diseases such as hear. disease, diabetes, and ar.hr.tis. In the US, most people with mental health issues or.disor.er. r.main untr.ated. Epidemiological studies have identified r.r.l r.sidents as being at gr.ater.r.sk for.health dispar.ties;as a r.sult, r.r.l r.sidents ar. a vulner.ble population in ter.s of mental health and mental health car.. r.sear.h has demonstr.ted that per.eived stigma can be a significant bar.ier.to r.r.l r.sidents seeking mental health car.. This study examined the r.sear.h question: What ar. the char.cter.stics of US r.r.l adults with mental health concer.s who per.eived stigma? Methods: 2007 Behavior.l r.sk Factor.Sur.eillance System (Br.SS) data wer. analyzed using bivar.ate and multivar.ate techniques to answer.the r.sear.h question. 2007 Br.SS data wer. used because in that year.non-institutionalized US adults in 37 states and ter.itor.es wer. quer.ed about their.attitudes towar. mental illness. Br.SS is a r.ndom digit telephone sur.ey that uses a complex multi-stage sampling appr.ach and subsequently a weighting factor.is calculated for.application to the data in or.er.to ensur. that they ar. r.pr.sentative of the US population based on the most r.cent census data. Only weighted data wer. analyzed. r.sults: Logistic r.gr.ssion analysis r.vealed that r.r.l adults r.por.ing mental health concer.s who per.eived stigma r.gar.ing mental health wer. mor. likely to be unemployed seeking wor. or.not wor.ing and not seeking wor., militar. veter.ns, or.to have defer.ed medical car. because of cost. The wall shear.str.ss （WSS） that a moving fluid exer.s on a sur.ace affects many pr.cesses including those r.lating to vascular.function. WSS plays an impor.ant r.le in nor.al physiology （e.g. angiogenesis） and affects the micr.vasculatur.＇s pr.mar. function of molecular.tr.nspor.. Points of fluctuating WSS show abnor.alities in a number.of diseases; however. ther. is no established technique for.measur.ng WSS dir.ctly in physiological systems. All cur.ent methods r.ly on estimates obtained fr.m measur.d velocity gr.dients in bulk flow data. In this wor., we r.por. a nanosensor.that can dir.ctly measur. WSS in micr.fluidic chamber. with sub-micr.n spatial r.solution by using a specific type of vir.s, the bacter.ophage M13, which has been fluor.scently labeled and anchor.d to a sur.ace. It is demonstr.ted that the nanosensor.can be calibr.ted and adapted for.biological tissue, r.vealing WSS in micr.-domains of cells that cannot be calculated accur.tely fr.m bulk flow measur.ments. This method lends itself to a platfor. applicable to many applications in biology and micr.fluidics.

Food pr.cessing facilities often use antimicr.bial quater.ar. ammonium compound （QAC） sanitizer. to maintain cleanliness. These QACs can end up in wastewater. used as feedstock for.anaer.bic digestion. The aim of this study was to measur. the effect of QAC contamination on biogas pr.duction and str.ctur. of micr.bial communities in ther.o- philic digester.sludge. Methane pr.duction and biogas quality data wer. analyzed in batch anaer.bic digester. containing QAC at 0, 15, 50, 100 and 150 mg/L. Incr.asing sanitizer.concentr.tion in the bior.actor. negatively impacted methane pr.duction r.te and biogas quality. Micr.bial community composition data was obtained thr.ugh 16S r.NA gene sequencing fr.m the QAG-contaminated sludges. Sequencing data showed no significant r.str.ctur.ng of the bacter.al communities. However. significant r.str.ctur.ng was obser.ed within the ar.haeal communities as QAC concentr.tion incr.ased. (9 M/17 F, mean age 47.50±19.56 year.) dur.ng cor.nar. sinus pacing at 600 ms pr.or.to ablation with electr.-anatomical mapping system. r.ght atr.al volume (r.V), the length and width of cavotr.cuspid isthmus (IsL, IsW), unipolar.and bipolar.voltage in the r.ght atr.um (UniV-r., BiV-r.) wer. measur.d and compar.d between patients with AF and those with AVNr.. r.sults r.V, IsL, IsW, UniV-r., and BiV-r. wer. 143.22±40.72 vs 104.35±21.06 ml, 39.31±8.10 vs 32.42±9.77 mm, 30.54±7.48 vs 23.15±6.61 mm, 1.96±1.24 vs 1.53±0.91 mv and 1.47±1.47 vs 1.29±1.12 mv in AF and AVNr. *** The r.ght atr.al volume is lar.er. both the length and width of cavotr.cuspid isthmus ar. gr.ater. This scale-up study demonstr.ted the feasibility of an ionic liquid(IL)pr.tr.atment pr.cess at 40 kg scale,using the IL 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate([C2C1Im][OAc])as the *** pr.tr.atment was followed by enzymatic hydr.lysis thr.ugh which the pr.cess efficiency for.biomass conver.ion to monomer.c sugar. was *** r.sults show that 43 wt%of switchgr.ss was dissolved in IL after.2 h of pr.tr.atment at 160℃ with 15 wt%solid loading.A 120 h enzymatic hydr.lysis of the pr.tr.ated switchgr.ss r.sults in 96%glucan and 98%xylan conver.ion.[C2C1Im][OAc]pr.tr.atment has been successfully scaled up to 40 kg with impr.ved sugar.titer. and yields r.lative to bench scale(6 kg).The mass flow of the over.ll pr.cess was established and the major.scale-up challenges of the pr.cess wer. identified.

Inundative field r.leases and evaluation of thr.e pr.dator. for.Bemisia tabaci （Hemipter.： Aleyr.didae） management in thr.e vegetable cr.ps

The sweetpotato whitefly, Bemisia tabaci （Gennadius）（Hemipter.： Aleyr.didae）, is a global pest on numer.us cr.ps, including vegetables. Weekly inundative r.leases of a coccinellid pr.dator.（Coccinella undecimpunctata L. [Coleopter.： Coccinellidae]）, a common gr.en lacewing pr.dator.（Chr.soper.a car.ea Stephen [Neur.pter.： Chr.sopidae]）, and a mir.d pr.dator.（Macr.lophus caliginosus [Wagner. [Hemipter.： Mir.dae]） wer. independently made in thr.e vegetable cr.ps （cabbage [Br.ssica oler.cea var. capitata L.], cucumber.[Cucumis sativus L.], and squash [Cucur.ita pepo L.]） for.the management of the sweetpotato whitefly. Appr.ximately 1 million to 2.5 million lar.ae or.nymphs of each pr.dator.wer. r.leased in the vegetable cr.ps dur.ng 20 weeks. Whitefly populations wer. r.duced by ≈ 25%-45% dur.ng most of the season in each cr.p wher. each pr.dator.was r.leased. The effect of each pr.dator.was similar.on whitefly population r.duction. Late in the season （October. when whitefly populations wer. low, gener.lly no benefit was obtained fr.m r.leasing the pr.dator.. Number. of pr.dator. r.cover.d dur.ng sampling in all cr.ps wer. gr.atest for.C. car.ea, but this cor.esponded with the fact that mor. individuals of this pr.dator.wer. r.leased than any other.pr.dator.in the exper.ment. These r.sults help define the utility of these natur.l enemies for.managing B. tabaci in vegetable cr.ps.
