Endogenous endophthalmitis is a rare condition with a poor long-term visual prognosis and significant mortality, often associated with the hematogenous spread of intravitreal infections and subsequent disruption of the blood-ocular barrier. Its anatomical proximity to the central nervous system (CNS) poses a high risk of infection dissemination, although cases documented in the literature are rare, and endogenous endophthalmitis is typically described as secondary to neuroinfections. We report the case of an 82-year-old female patient with a history of hypertension who presented with fever, decreased visual acuity, severe headache, chemosis, and conjunctival injection. Endogenous endophthalmitis was diagnosed, and antimicrobial treatment was initiated alongside surgical intervention by the ophthalmology service. However, the patient’s condition worsened neurologically, and Streptococcus pneumoniae was identified in cerebrospinal fluid cultures. Despite intensive medical treatment, the patient’s clinical course was poor, leading to death.

The global fuel management problem in BWRs(Boiling Water Reactors) can be understood as a very complex optimization problem,where the variables represent design decisions and the quality assessment of each solution is done through a complex and computational expensive *** last aspect is the major impediment to perform an extensive exploration of the design space,mainly due to the time lost evaluating non promising *** this work,we show how we can train a Multi-Layer perceptron(MLp) to predict the reactor behavior for a given *** trained MLp is able to evaluate the configurations immediately,thus allowing performing an exhaustive evaluation of the possible configurations derived from a stock of fuel lattices,fuel reload patterns and control rods *** our particular problem,the number of configurations is approximately 7.7×10^(10);the evaluation with the core simulator would need above 200 years,while only 100hours were required with our approach to discern between bad and good *** later were then evaluated by the simulator and we confirm the MLp *** good core configurations reached the energy requirements,satisfied the safety parameter constrains and they could reduce uranium enrichment costs.

To elucidate the development of heartwood,bark,sapwood,pith and specific gravity of wood in fastgrowing teak(Tectona grandis)plantations in Costa Rica,we sampled three trees in each of 55 plantations and modelled each variable with age,site and different tree *** and stand density of plantations were significant correlated with stem diameter at breast height and total height of the *** of heartwood was initiated at the age of 4-year-old and increased in direct proportion with *** age of plantation had a significant relationship with stem diameter at breast height,heartwood percentage,sapwood thickness,sapwood percentage,percentage of bark,pith diameter and percentage,and specify *** model for these tree parameters was model with these parameters as dependent variable and in relation to age as independent variable.

We present a case of a one-day-old newborn,without prenatal diagnosis,referred to our cardiologic intensive care unit in critical condition presenting sub-cyanosis and peripheral oxygen saturation of 80%.Echocardiography diagnosis was tricuspid valve dysplasia with severe regurgitation,functional pulmonary valve atresia with intact ventricular septum and reversal flow in the large patent ductus arteriosus(pDA).Chest X-ray showed severe cardiomegaly and wall to wall *** E1 infusion was started once after *** few days,clinical conditions progressively worsened because of right heart failure;a first pharmacological approach to close pDA failed and surgery ligation of pDA was necessary to restore anterograde pulmonary flow and heart size.

Biomarkers are biological molecules that provide information about the physiological condition of an organism such as early signals of health *** aim of this study was to compare the relative gene expression of four molecular biomarkers related to oxidative stress,and neuronal damage in piaractus brachypomus under three different conditions(exposure to chlorpyrifos(CpF),menthol and eugenol anesthesia,and brain injury).Bioinformatic analyses were conducted to design primers for the molecular biomarkers,then,the relative gene expression of COX1,GpX1,BDNF and CALB1 genes was measured by qpCR using brain tissue cDNA from the treated animals as template and 2-ΔΔCT method was ***1a gene was used as reference *** results showed a response to chemical stress in the CpF treatment samples where GpX1,BDNF and CALB1 genes were ***,in menthol/eugenol and brain injury treatments,no alterations in the relative gene expression were observed.

Transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) is an effective modality for the treatment of Hepatocellular Carcinoma. It is used to treat small tumors and to downstage large tumors to meet liver transplant criteria. TACE can be associated with multiple side effects, including fever, right upper quadrant pain, nausea, vomiting, hepatic failure, hepatic encephalopathy, cholecystitis and pancreatitis. Neurological complications after TACE are rare, usually caused by cerebral embolism, and confirmed by means of imaging studies. Spinal cord ischemia secondary to TACE is extremely rare and can lead to significant morbidity. We report a case of paraparesis caused by TACE with normal imaging and nerve conduction studies, suggestive of localized vasculitis.

Effect of Aerobic Exercise on protein Expression in Muscle of Obese Mexican Adolescents: A proteomic and Bioinformatic Analysis

The beneficial effects of exercise have been recognized for many years yet the molecular mechanisms by which exercise show benefits on health are still elusive. A combination of experimental and bioinformatics approaches can be an invaluable tool to increase the cellular understanding of the molecular mechanisms that underlie the aerobic exercise in obese adolescents. Muscle skeletal proteins were separated by 2D-pAGE and changes in protein expression were revealed by ImageMaster 2D platinum analysis software. proteins with expression changes after aerobic exercise were identified by comparison with 2D maps from SWISS-2DpAGE and interactions of proteins were analyzed with STRING and david databases. After aerobic exercise, all participants decreased glucose, insulin, total cholesterol, body mass index and waist circumference. proteomic differential analysis revealed 10 overexpressed proteins after aerobic training, which correspond to carbonic anhydrase III, beta enolase, creatine kinase, ATp synthase beta subunit, aldolase A, glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase, triosephosphate isomerase, pyruvate kinase, lactate dehydrogenase and adenylate kinase. Exercise increased glycolysis and oxidative phosphorylation pathways, which is likely to be regulated by ubiquitin c protein. In conclusion, our analysis suggested that obese adolescents show changes in their body mass index, waist circumference and serum glucose after aerobic exercise through improved protein expression patterns that aid, especially, glucose metabolism and increase the oxidative phosphorylation. The most likely explanation for the observed pattern is that ubiquitin c protein keeps the glycolytic enzymes bound within skeletal muscle, obtaining a non-degradative role in cell signaling.
