Antimicrobial resistance(AMR)poses a critical threat to global health and development,with environmental factors—particularly in urban areas—contributing significantly to the spread of antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs).However,most research to date has been conducted at a local level,leaving significant gaps in our understanding of the global status of antibiotic resistance in urban *** address this issue,we thoroughly analyzed a total of 86,213 ARGs detected within 4,728 metagenome samples,which were collected by the Meta SUB International Consortium involving diverse urban environments in 60 cities of 27 countries,utilizing a deep-learning based *** findings demonstrated the strong geographical specificity of urban environmental resistome,and their correlation with various local socioeconomic and medical *** also identified distinctive evolutionary patterns of ARG-related biosynthetic gene clusters(BGCs)across different countries,and discovered that the urban environment represents a rich source of novel *** study provides a comprehensive overview of the global urban environmental resistome,and fills a significant gap in our knowledge of large-scale urban antibiotic resistome analysis.

Influence of donor age on liver transplantation outcomes: A multivariate analysis and comparative study

Why Deep Neural Nets Cannot Ever Match Biological Intelligence and What To Do About It?

The recently introduced theory of practopoiesis offers an account on how adaptive intelligent systems are organized. According to that theory, biological agents adapt at three levels of organization and this structure applies also to our brains. This is referred to as tri-traversal theory of the organization of mind or for short, a T3-structure. To implement a similar T3-organization in an artificially intelligent agent, it is necessary to have multiple policies, as usually used as a concept in the theory of reinforcement learning. These policies have to form a hierarchy. We define adaptive practopoietic systems in terms of hierarchy of policies and calculate whether the total variety of behavior required by real-life conditions of an adult human can be satisfactorily accounted for by a traditional approach to artificial intelligence based on T2-agents, or whether a T3-agent is needed instead. We conclude that the complexity of real life can be dealt with appropriately only by a T3-agent. This means that the current approaches to artifidal intelligence, such as deep architectures of neural networks, will not suffice with fixed network architectures. Rather, they will need to be equipped with intelligent mechanisms that rapidly alter the architectures of those networks.

Performance assessment of borehole arrangements for the design of rectangular shallow foundation systems

This study proposes a framework to evaluate the performance of borehole arrangements for the design of rectangular shallow foundation systems under spatially variable soil conditions. Performance measures are introduced to quantify, for a fixed foundation layout and given soil sounding locations, the variability level of the foundation system bearing capacities in terms of their mean values and standard deviations. To estimate these measures, the recently proposed random failure mechanism method (RFMM) has been adopted and extended to consider any arrangement of rectangular foundations and boreholes. Hence, three-dimensional bearing capacity estimation under spatially variable soil can be efficiently performed. Several numerical examples are presented to illustrate the applicability of the proposed framework, including diverse foundation arrangements and different soil correlation structures. Overall, the proposed framework represents a potentially useful tool to support the design of geotechnical site investigation programs, especially in situations where very limited prior knowledge about the soil properties is available.

Functionalized Data Operator Model for System Analysis and Forecasting

A deconvolution data processing is developed for obtaining a Functionalized Data Operator (FDO) model that is trained to approximate past and present, input-output data relations. The FDO model is designed to predict future output features for deviated input vectors from any expected, feared of conceivable, future input for optimum control, forecast, or early-warning hazard evaluation. The linearized FDO provides fast analytical, input-output solution in matrix equation form. If the FDO is invertible, the necessary input for a desired output may be explicitly evaluated. A numerical example is presented for FDO model identification and hazard evaluation for methane inflow into the working face in an underground mine: First, a Physics-Based Operator (PBO) model to match monitored data. Second, FDO models are identified for matching the observed, short-term variations with time in the measured data of methane inflow, varying model parameters and simplifications following the parsimony concept of Occam’s Razor. The numerical coefficients of the PBO and FDO models are found to differ by two to three orders of magnitude for methane release as a function of short-time barometric pressure variations. As being data-driven, the significantly different results from an FDO versus PBO model is either an indication of methane release processes poorly understood and modeled in PBO, missing some physics for the pressure spikes;or of problems in the monitored data fluctuations, erroneously sampled with time;or of false correlation. Either way, the FDO model is originated from the functionalized form of the monitored data, and its result is considered experimentally significant within the specified RMS error of model matching.

Applications and verification of a computational energy dynamics model for mine climate simulations

A complete thermodynamic model is described for temperature and heat flow distribution simulation for ventilation networks in underground *** method is called the Computational Energy Dynamics(CED)model of the heat,mass,and energy *** Thermal and Humidity(TH)transport elements of the full model are described for advection,convection,and accumulation,encompassing heat capacity,radiation,latent heat for evaporation,and condensation in the airways,as well as variable heat conduction and accumulation in the rock *** thermal flywheel effect for time-dependent temperature field applications is included in the model solution.A CED model validation exercise is described,directly evaluating the iterated,minimized energy balance errors for the mechanical and thermal energy components for each network branch after a converged solution is determined.A simulation example relevant to mine safety and health is shown with the CED-TH model,demonstrating its capabilities in efficiency and accuracy in comparison with measurement results.
