Efficiency improvement by using metal–insulator‑semiconductor structure in InGaN/GaN micro‑light‑emitting diodes

InGaN/GaN micro-light-emitting diodes(micro-LEDs)with a metal–insulator-semiconductor(MIS)structure on the sidewall are proposed to improve *** this MIS structure,a sidewall electrode is deposited on the insulating layer-coated sidewall of the device mesa between a cathode on the bottom and an anode on the ***(EL)measurements of fabricated devices with a mesa diameter of 10μm show that the application of negative biases on the sidewall electrode can increase the device external quantum efficiency(EQE).In contrast,the application of positive biases can decrease the *** band structure analysis reveals that the EQE is impacted because the application of sidewall electric fields manipulates the local surface electron density along the mesa sidewall and thus controls surface Shockley–Read–Hall(SRH)*** suggested strategies,reducing insulator layer thickness and exploring alternative materials,can be implemented to further improve the EQE of MIS micro-LEDs in future fabrication.

This study introduces a novel image capture and lighting techniques using a cutting-edge hybrid MEMS scanner system designed for compact microscopic *** scanner comprises a tapered optical fiber waveguide and innovative aerosol-jet printed PZT(lead zirconate titanate)bimorph push-pull actuators on a stainless-steel substrate,effectively addressing issues that are commonly associated with PZT on silicon substrates such as fracture and layer *** leveraging nonlinear vibration,the scanner achieves a spiral scan pattern from a single signal input,in addition to the expected two-dimensional scanning and target illumination from two phase-shifted *** capability is further enhanced by a novel process to taper the optical fiber,which reduces illumination scattering and tunes the fiber to the resonant frequencies of the *** precisely tapered tip enables large fields of view while maintaining independent 2-axis scanning through one-degree-of-freedom *** validation showcases the successful generation of a spiral scan pattern with a 60μm diameter scan area and a 10 Hz frame rate,effectively reconstructing scanned images of 5μm lines,cross patterns(15μm in length with a 5μm gap),and structures of a Psychodidae wing.

Information security and quality management are often considered two different fields. However, organizations must be mindful of how software security may affect quality control. This paper examines and promotes methods through which secure software development processes can be integrated into the Systems Software Development Life-cycle (SDLC) to improve system quality. Cyber-security and quality assurance are both involved in reducing risk. Software security teams work to reduce security risks, whereas quality assurance teams work to decrease risks to quality. There is a need for clear standards, frameworks, processes, and procedures to be followed by organizations to ensure high-level quality while reducing security risks. This research uses a survey of industry professionals to help identify best practices for developing software with fewer defects from the early stages of the SDLC to improve both the quality and security of software. Results show that there is a need for better security awareness among all members of software development teams.

The legacy of the human misery caused by the application of the herbicides including Agent Purple and Agent Orange contaminated with unknown amounts of dioxin TCDD and Agent Blue, the arsenic-based herbicide, sprayed over the jungles, rice fields, and hamlets of Vietnam is still haunting us today. Why did this happen? Could it have been prevented? Was it necessary United States military strategy? Was it an intentional decision to inflict this blight on the enemy soldiers and the Vietnamese, Cambodian, and Laotian civilians, to poison their land and cause generations of harm? Alternatively, was it an unpreventable accident in the march of military history? What patterns in the U.S. government’s thought process could be identified as the cause, which led to the decision to use these herbicides as tactical chemical weapons? If the introduction of herbicide (chemical) weapons had not been made, would the outcome of the Vietnam War and the Secret Wars in Laos and Cambodia have been any different? The objective of this treatise is to outline the role of world events and backgrounds and the role of the leaders, U.S. military, CIA, USDA, U.S. State Department, the U.S. President appointed Ambassadors to Vietnam and Laos, chemical companies, and President Diệm’s Republic of Vietnam (RVN) government and military. Their collective advice led to the decision to use herbicides as military and environmental chemical weapons in the Second Indochina War. Were the National interests achieved by U.S. military strategy in the RVN using herbicide weapons worth the long-term environmental and human health consequences in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos? Did it impact the outcome of the Second Indochina War?

On May 15, 2020, the Lancet published an article titled Use of Herbal Drugs to Treat COVID-19 Should be with Caution. While this is true of all drugs, herbal and otherwise, the data may be biased and deserve a scientific response. We believe these types of reports will unfairly and negatively impact the field of integrative medicine as a whole, and must be answered with facts and statistics that more accurately represent the current situation.

S-RNase-based self-incompatibility （SI） is a genetically determined self/non-self-recognition process employed by many flowering plant species to prevent inbreeding and promote outcrosses. For the Plantaginaceae, Rosaceae and Solanaceae, it is now known that S-RNase and S-locus F-box （two multiple allelic genes at the S-locus） determine the female and male specificity, respectively, during SI interactions. However, how allelic products of these two genes interact inside pollen tubes to result in specific growth inhibition of self-pollen tubes remains to be investigated. Here, we review all the previously proposed biochemical models and discuss whether their predictions are consistent with all SI phenomena, including competitive interaction where SI breaks down in pollen that carries two different pollen S-alleles. We also discuss these models in light of the recent findings of compartmentalization of S-RNases in both incompatible and compatible pollen tubes. Lastly, we summarize the results from our recent biochemical studies of PiSLF （Petunia inflata SLF） and S-RNase, and present a new model for the biochemical mechanism of SI in the Solanaceae. The tenet of this model is that a PiSLF preferentially interacts with its non-self S-RNases in the cytoplasm of a pollen tube to result in the assembly of an E3-like complex, which then mediates ubiquitination and degradation of non-self S-RNases through the ubiquitin-26S proteasome pathway. This model can explain all SI phenomena and, at the same time, has raised new questions for further study.

Objective: To study the effect of sequence variability between different genotypes of HCV on the antigenic properties of the NS5a protein of strong antigenic re- gion at position 2212-2313 by using recombinant proteins. Methods: Thirteen representative sequences from HCV genotypes 1 to 6 were selected to design synthe- tic genes encoding for this antigenic region, These genes were assembled by PCR from synthetic olionu- cleotides and expressed in E. coli as hybrid proteins with glutathione S-transferase. All 13 fusion proteins were purified from bacterial lysates and used to test a panel of anti-HCV positive sera (n=61) obtained from patients infected with HCV genotypes 1 through 6. Results: A comparison of sequences derived from dif- ferent HCV genotypes showed that the primary struc- ture of this strong antigenic region is highly variable. Percent homology between different genotype se- quences varied from 40. 4% to 72. 5%. All but one protein immunoreacted with 62% to 93% of serum samples. Although a variable degree of genotype spe- cific antigenic reactivity was detected, only one pro- tein demonstrated a noticeable preference to immu- noreact with antibodies against the homologous HCV genotype. On the other hand, closely related proteins derived from the same subtype or genotype immuno- reacted with significantly different efficiency with HCV antibodies. Conclusions: Different genotype HCV genes were successfully cloned, expressed and purified. Se- quence variability has a profound effect on the anti- genic properties of the HCV NS5a immunodominant region. This finding should be considered in the de- velopment of diagnostic tests for the efficient detec- tion of anti-HCV activity in serum specimens.

Mast cells (MC) are pivotal elements in several physiological and immunological functions of the gastro- intestinal (GI) tract. MC translate the stress signals that has been transmitted through brain gut axis into release of proinflammatory mediators that can cause stimulation of nerve endings that could affect afferent nerve terminals and change their perception, affect intestinal motility, increase intestinal hyperpermeability and, in susceptible individuals, modulate the inflammation. Thus, it is not surprising that MC are an important element in the pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease and non inflammatory GI disorders such as IBS and mast cell enterocolitis.

Tibetan area is the most active continental collision zone on earth. Several major earthquakes occurred around the boundaries of Tibetan plateau and caused massive damages and casualties. The dynamics of this area is not well understood due to the complex structure of Tibet and its surrounding area. In this study, a 3D global flow simulation with only viscous rheology is applied to studying the stress distribution in this area, and the interaction between Tibet and its surrounding areas is investigated. Finally, the possibility of combining regional modeling with global models is also discussed.
