AIM: To investigate the role of host and bacterial arginases in the colonization of mice by Helicobacter pylori (***).METHODS: *** produces a very powerful urease that hydrolyzes urea to carbon dioxide and ammonium,which neutralizes *** is absolutely essential to *** pathogenesis;therefore,the urea substrate must be in ample supply for urease to work *** urea substrate is most likely provided by arginase activity,which hydrolyzes l-arginine to l-ornithine and *** work has demonstrated that *** arginase is surprisingly not required for colonization of wild-type ***,another in vivo source of the critical urea substrate must *** hypothesized that the urea source was provided by host arginase Ⅱ,since this enzyme is expressed in the stomach,and *** has previously been shown to induce the expression of murine gastric arginase Ⅱ.To test this hypothesis,wild-type and arginase (rocF) mutant *** strain SS1 were inoculated into arginase Ⅱ knockout ***: Surprisingly,both the wild-type and rocF mutant bacteria still colonized arginase Ⅱ knockout ***,feeding arginase Ⅱ knockout mice the host arginase inhibitor S-(2-boronoethyl)l-cysteine (BEC),while inhibiting > 50% of the host arginase Ⅰ?activity in several tissues,did not block the ability of the rocF mutant *** to *** contrast,BEC poorly inhibited *** arginase ***: The in vivo source for the essential urea utilized by *** urease is neither bacterial arginase nor host arginase Ⅱ;instead,either residual host arginase Ⅰ?or agmatinase is probably responsible.

High–Speed electron beam curing of thick electrode for high energy density li-ion batteries

Electron beam curing is demonstrated as a promising method for high speed,low cost and environmentally friendly battery electrode *** work reports transfer of this process to pilot scale equipment and evaluation of electrochemical performance in prototype 1.5 Ah pouch *** liNi0.5Mn0.3Co0.2O2(NMC532)composite electrodes with an areal loading of 25 mg cm^-2(~4 mAh cm^-2)are successfully cured at a line speed of 500 feet per minute at 275 *** to the NMC532 cathode processed via a conventional coating method,the electron beam cured electrodes show higher capacity fade in the first 100 cycles,but similar fade rate *** improvement strategies are proposed and *** work demonstrates that electron beam curing is a promising method for manufacturing thick battery electrodes at high speeds and low capital/operation cost.

The demands of the extra-time period of soccer:A systematic review

Background:Soccer match-play is typically contested over 90 min;however,in some cup and tournament scenarios,when matches are tied,they proceed to an additional 30 min,which is termed "extra-time^(ET).This systematic review sought to appraise the literature available on 120-min of soccer-specific exercise,with a view to identifying practical recommendations and future research ***:The review was conducted according to the PRISMA *** researchers performed a systematic search of PubMed,CINAHl,and PsycINFO in May 2019,with the following keywords entered in various combinations:"soccer","football","extra-time","extra time","extratime","120 minutes","120 min","additional 30 minutes",and "additional 30 min".Results:The search yielded an initial 73 *** the screening process,11 articles were accepted for *** were subsequently organized into the following 5 categories:movement demands of ET,performance responses to ET,physiological and neuromuscular response during ET,nutritional interventions,and recovery and *** results highlighted that during competitive match-play,players cover5%-12% less distance relative to match duration(i.e.,meters per minute) during ET compared to the preceding 90 *** in technical performance(i.e.,shot speed,number of passes and dribbles) were also observed during ***,carbohydrate provision may attenuate and improve dribbling performance during ***,objective and subjective measures of recovery may be further compromised following ET when compared to 90 ***:Additional investigations are warranted to further substantiate these findings and identify interventions to improve performance during ET.

Cooperative behaviors are ubiquitous in nature and human *** is very important to understand the internal mechanism of emergence and maintenance of *** we know now,the offsprings inherit not only the phenotype but also the neighborhood relationship of their *** recent research results show that the interactions among individuals facilitate survival of cooperation through network reciprocity of clustering *** paper aims at introducing an inheritance mechanism of neighborhood relationship to explore the evolution of *** detail,a mathematical model is proposed to characterize the evolutionary process with the above inheritance *** analysis and numerical simulations indicate that high-level cooperation can emerge and be maintained for a wide variety of cost-to-benefit ratios,even if mutation happens during the evolving process.

Role of human nucleoside transporters in pancreatic cancer and chemoresistance

The prognosis of pancreatic cancer is poor with the overall 5-year survival rate of less than 5%changing minimally over the past decades and future projections predicting it developing into the second leading cause of cancer related mortality within the next *** into the mechanisms of pancreatic cancer development,progression and acquired chemoresistance have been constant for the past few decades,thus resulting in the identification of human nucleoside transporters and factors affecting cytotoxic uptake via said *** review summaries the aberrant expression and role of human nucleoside transports in pancreatic cancer,more specifically human equilibrative nucleoside transporter 1/2(hENT1,hENT2),and human concentrative nucleoside transporter 1/3(hCNT1,hCNT3),while briefly discussing the connection and importance between these nucleoside transporters and mucins that have also been identified as being aberrantly expressed in pancreatic *** review also discusses the incidence,current diagnostic techniques as well as the current therapeutic treatments for pancreatic ***,we address the importance of chemoresistance in nucleoside analogue drugs,in particular,gemcitabine and we discuss prospective therapeutic treatments and strategies for overcoming acquired chemoresistance in pancreatic cancer by the enhancement of human nucleoside transporters as well as the potential targeting of mucins using a combination of mucolytic compounds with cytotoxic agents.

Experimental Investigation of the Creep Behavior of Garnet at High Temperatures and Pressures

To provide constraints on the rheological properties of garnet, we have experimentally investigated the creep behavior of garnet at high pressures and temperatures using a deformation-DIA. Samples were cold-pressed from a garnet powder and deformed at constant displacement rates ranging from 1.1×10^-5 to 2.6×10^- s^-1 at high temperatures （1 273-1 473 K） and high pressures （2.4-4.1 GPa）. Differential stress and pressure were measured using X-ray diffraction techniques based on the elastic strain of various lattice planes as a function of orientation with respect to the applied stress field. The plastic strain of a deforming sample was monitored in-situ through a series of radiographs. Our results provide a measure of the dependence of creep rate of garnet on the temperature with an activation energy of -280 kJ/mol and on pressure with an activation volume of -10×10^-6 m3/mol. The flow behavior of garnet quantified by this study provides the basis for modeling geodynamic processes occurring within subducted lithosphere.

Embryo and Endosperm Phytochemicals from Polyembryonic Maize Kernels and Their Relationship with Seed Germination

Because of the growing worldwide demand for maize grain,new alternatives have been sought for breeding of this cereal,e.g.,development of polyembryonic varieties,which agronomic performance could positively impact the grain yield per unit area,and nutritional *** objectives of this study were to(1)determine the phytochemicals present in the embryo and endosperm of grain from maize families with high,low,and null polyembryony frequency,which were planted at different locations,and(2)state the relationship between these compounds and seed *** extracted phytochemicals from corn were identified by *** results showed that the genotype with the highest presence of phytochemicals was the brachytic population with high polyembryony called“BAP”,which also required less water during the germination *** number of phytochemicals in both embryo and endosperm tissues was not related to the sowing location where they came from or the type of *** number of different phytochemicals depended on the grain tissue from where they were *** chemical compounds found in the different maize tissues were related to the development of the plant,either in roots or nibs because these are mainly associated with the lignin synthesis.

The Comparative Performance of Plug Preparation Using Different Fertilizer Sources and Concentrations

Plugs are crucial for initiating crop production in greenhouses, soil, and controlled environment agriculture (CEA). Vegetable, fruiting, ornamental, and other horticultural crops that utilize plugs for production have demonstrated superior transplant establishment rate, plant health, and total yield. The APS laboratory for Sustainable Food at Florida Gulf Coast University investigated the quality of plugs grown based on different concentrations and fertigation sources using synthetic and organic sources. We carried out the growth of “Rex Butterhead” lettuce (latuca sativa) plugs with five different fertigation treatments, 1) full-strength synthetic starter fertilizer solution;2) half-strength synthetic starter fertilizer solution;3) full-strength organic starter fertilizer solution;4) half-strength organic starter fertilizer solution, and 5) no fertilizer for control. Fertilizer treatments were formulated following manufacturer recommendations. The seeds were sown in Oasis® Horticubes and saturated every day with the different fertilizer treatments. The plugs were cultivated for 15 days in a controlled environment until two leaves after the cotyledons had developed. After 15 days, we collected data which included wet weight (g), dry weight (g), leaf area (cm2), and chlorophyll concentration (mg/cm2). In addition, we derived data including the leaf Area Index (lAI, cm2/cm2) and Specific leaf Area (SlA, cm2/g). Descriptive statistics were used to describe the biomass data. A Tukey’s HSD test was carried out to understand the differences between the fertilizer sources. We determined there was a statistically significant difference (P = 7.34E−29) in the measured plug growth parameters due to the various fertigation sources. Bioenergy,currently the largest renewable energy source in the EU(64%of the total renewable energy consumption),has sparked great interest to meet the32%renewable resources for the 2030 bioeconomy *** design of innovative cropping systems informed by bioeconomy imperatives requires the evaluate of the effects of introducing crops for bioenergy into conventional crop *** study aimed to assess the impacts of changes in conventional cropping systems in mixed dairy cattle farms redesigned to introduce bioenergy crops either by increasing the biomass production through an increase of cover crops,while keeping main feed/food crops,or by substituting food crops with an increase of the crop rotation *** assessment is based on the comparison between conventional and innovative systems oriented to feed and biogas production,with and without tillage,to evaluate their agri-environmental performances(biomass production,nitrogen fertilization autonomy,greenhouse gas emissions and biogas production).The result showed higher values in the biogas cropping system than in the conventional and feed ones for all indicators,biomass productivity(27%and20%higher,respectively),nitrogen fertilization autonomy(26%and 73%higher,respectively),methanogenic potential(77%and 41%higher,respectively)and greenhouse gas emissions(15%and 3%higher,respectively).There were no negative impacts of no-till compared to the tillage practice,for all tested *** biogas cropping system showed a better potential in terms of agri-environmental performance,although its greenhouse gas emissions were ***,it would be appropriate to undertake a multicriteria assessment integrating agri-environmental,economic and social performances.
