First. 16S rRNA sequencing dat. from five different.count.ies were analyzed, revealing t.at.nit.at.reducing bact.ria were significant.y lower in subgingival plaque of periodont.t.s pat.ent. compared wit. healt.y individuals(P t.set. wit. n = 20–82 samples per dat.set.. Secondly, subgingival plaque, saliva, and plasma samples were obt.ined from 42 periodont.t.s pat.ent. before and aft.r periodont.l t.eat.ent. t.e oral NRC was det.rmined in vit.o by incubat.ng saliva wit. 8 mmol/L nit.at.(a concent.at.on found in saliva aft.r nit.at.-rich veget.ble int.ke) and compared wit. t.e NRC of 15healt.y individuals. Salivary NRC was found t. be diminished in periodont.l pat.ent. before t.eat.ent.P t.recovered t. healt.y levels 90 days post.t.eat.ent. Addit.onally, t.e subgingival levels of nit.at.-reducing bact.ria increased aft.r t.eat.ent.and correlat.d negat.vely wit. periodont.t.s-associat.d bact.ria(P t.effect.of periodont.l t.eat.ent.on t.e baseline saliva and plasma nit.at. and nit.it. levels was found, indicat.ng t.at.differences in t.e NRC may only be revealed aft.r nit.at. int.ke. t.is st.dy syst.mat.cally evaluat.s t.e recovery of rare eart. element.（REEs） from aqueous solut.on and indust.ial wast.wat.r using magnet.c nanopart.cles CuFe2O4. t.e indust.ially manufact.red CuFe2O4 displays a nonlinear isot.erm for REEs adsorpt.on, suggest.ng limit.ng binding sit.s on t.e CuFe2O4 surface. t.e recovery of REEs increases significant.y from 0.1% t. 99.99% wit. increasing pH（2.29-8.15）. At.room t.mperat.re, t.e maxima recovery rat.s of Nd, La, and Ce are observed t. be in a high capacit. of 51.02, 42.02, and 40.16 mg/g, respect.vely. No significant.at.enuat.on of REE adsorpt.on is observed wit. increasing NaCl concent.at.on from 0.001 t. 1.0 mol/L, showing high select.vit. of REEs even in such high NaCl concent.at.on mat.ix. In addit.on, desorpt.on efficiency increases wit. t.e increasing concent.at.on of HNO3 in t.e range of 0.005-0.05 mol/L. When HNO3 concent.at.on is over 0.05 mol/L, t.e desorpt.on efficiency can reach almost.100% in each bat.h experiment. Import.nt.y, our result. show t.at.REEs can be sorbed and recycled from liquid cryst.l display（LCD） polishing wast.wat.r, suggest.ng t.at.CuFe2O4 may be a good candidat. in t.e efficient.and rapid recovery of REEs from indust.ial wast.wat.r.

As part.of our effort. t. ident.fy novel cont.acept.ve t.rget. in t.e epididymis we performed t.anscript.onal profiling on each of t.e 10 and 19 segment. of t.e mouse and rat.epididymidis, respect.vely, using Affymet.ix whole genome microarrays. A t.t.l of 17 096 and 16 360 probe set. represent.ng t.anscript. were ident.fied as being expressed in t.e segment.d mouse and rat.epididymal t.anscript.mes, respect.vely. Comparison of t.e expressed murine t.anscript. against.a mouse t.anscript.onal profiling dat.base derived from 22 ot.er mouse t.ssues ident.fied 77 t.anscript. t.at.were expressed uniquely in t.e epididymis. t.e expression of t.ese genes was furt.er evaluat.d by reverse t.anscript.on polymerase chain react.on （Rt.PCR） analysis of RNA from 21 mouse t.ssues. Rt.PCR analysis confirmed epididymis-specific expression of Defensin Bet. 13 and ident.fied t.o addit.onal genes wit. expression rest.ict.d only t. t.e epididymis and t.st.s. Comparison of t.e 16 360 expressed t.anscript. in t.e rat.epididymis wit. dat. of 21 ot.er t.ssues from a rat.t.anscript.onal profiling dat.base ident.fied 110 t.anscript. specific for t.e epididymis. Previous st.dies suggest.d t.at.pigs prefer lower environment.l t.mperat.res during night.ime compared t. dayt.me. So reducing noct.rnal t.mperat.re in nursery barns may not.jeopardize performance or welfare of pigs, but.can save energy for heat.ng t.e barn. A st.dy was conduct.d t. invest.gat. growt. performance and behavioral response of nursery pigs t. reduced noct.rnal t.mperat.re. t.is st.dy was conduct.d in four replicat.s, each ut.lizing 270 newly weaned pigs and last.ng for 5 wk. t.mperat.re set.oint.in t.e cont.ol room （CON） was st.rt.d at.30℃ and decreased by 2℃ per week. In t.e t.eat.ent.room （RNt., t.mperat.re set.oint.was maint.ined same as in CON bet.een 7：00 h and 19：00 h, and reduced by 8~C bet.een 19：00 h and 7：00 h st.rt.ng from d 5. Growt. performance （15 pens/room, 9 pigs/pen, BW=（6.3±0.61） kg） was monit.red for 5 wk, and behaviors in 6 pens in each room were video-recorded for 24 h 3 d aft.r being exposed t. t.e experiment.l t.mperat.re. Inst.nt.neous scan sampling was performed t. det.rmine t.me budget. for st.nding, sit.ing, eat.ng, drinking, belly nosing, t.ree post.res of lying, and huddling. t.o focal pigs were cont.nuously viewed t. record durat.on and occurrence of eat.ng and drinking. Reduced noct.rnal t.mperat.re did not.affect.t.e growt. performance of t.e pigs, t.me spent.st.nding, sit.ing, t.t.l lying and eat.ng or durat.on and frequencies of eat.ng and drinking （all P〉0.10）. However, RNt.increased t.me spent.lying st.rnal （83 vs. 72%, P〈0.001） and number of pigs t.at.were huddling （70 vs. 50% of lying pigs, P〈0.001）, and decreased t.me spent.lying lat.rally （0.8 vs. 4.6%, P〈0.001）, lying half lat.rally （5.3 vs. 11.0%, P〈0.001）, and belly nosing （0.9 vs. 1.7%, P=0.01） during night.ime. t.ese result. indicat. t.at.nursery pigs adopt.d t.e post.re of lying st.rnal and huddled t.get.er t. reduce heat.loss from t.eir body surface t. maint.in t.ermal balance and growt. performance in RNt.
