Siliceous diatoms are one of the most prominent actors in the oceans,and they account for approximately 40%of the primary production and particulate organic carbon export *** is believed that changes in carbon flux caused by variations in diatom distribution can lead to significant climate *** the fundamental pathways of diatom-driven carbon sequestration have long been established,there are no reports of CaCO_(3) precipitation induced by marine diatom *** manuscript introduces novel details regarding the enhancement of aragonite precipitation during photosynthesis in Skeletonema costatum in both artificial and natural *** direct measurements of cell surfaces via a pH microelectrode and zeta potential analyzer,it was determined that the diatom-mediated promotion of CaCO_(3) precipitation is achieved through the creation of specific microenvironments with concentrated[CO_(3)^(2-)]and[Ca^(2+)]and/or the dehydrating effect of adsorbed Ca^(2+).Based on this mechanism,it is highly plausible that diatom-mediated calcification could occur in the oceans,an assertion that was supported by the significant deviation of total alkalinity(TA)from the conservative TA-salinity mixing line during a Skeletonema costatum bloom in the East china Sea and other similar *** newly discovered calcification pathway establishes a link between particulate inorganic and organic carbon flux and thus helps in the reassessment of marine carbon export fluxes and CO_(2) sequestration *** discovery may have important ramifications for assessing marine carbon cycling and predicting the potential effects of future ocean acidification.

The aquaculture industry in china is not complete without the freshwater *** scientific assessment of the regional competitiveness of the freshwater aquaculture industry has significant theoretical and practical implications for fostering the industry’s sustainable *** on the diamond model,this study developed a competitiveness evaluation index system for Chinese freshwater aquaculture industry which included six primary indicators and sixteen secondary *** primary indicators included resource endowment,production capacity,science and technology promotion capacity,related and supporting industries,market demand and guiding development *** study analyzed freshwater aquaculture industrial competitiveness during 2012-2020 and classified the Chinese 18 major freshwater aquaculture provinces into five competitive *** results showed that the development of related and supporting industries has the greatest contribution to the competitiveness,followed by resource endowment and market demand *** analysis and tier classification showed that the competitiveness of Jiangsu Province and Hubei Province has always been at the forefront,and the province of Guangdong,Fujian,Hunan,Jiangxi,Zhejiang,Anhui,liaoning,and Guangxi were above the middle ***,the results indicated that the competitiveness of most provinces showed an upward trend.

The unique structural features of hard carbon(HC)make it a promising anode candidate for sodium-ion batteries(SIB).However,traditional methods of preparing HC require special equipment,long reaction times,and large energy consumption,resulting in low throughputs and *** our contribution,a novel synthesis method is proposed,involving the formation of HC nanosheets(NS-CNs)within minutes by creating an anoxic environment through flame combustion and further introducing sulfur and nitrogen sources to achieve heteroatom *** effect of heterogeneous element doping on the microstructure of HC is quantitatively analyzed by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy and image processing *** with density functional theory calculation,it is verified that the functionalized HC exhibits stronger Na^(+)adsorption ability,electron gain ability,and Na^(+)migration *** a result,NS-CNs as SIB anodes provide an ultrahigh reversible capacity of 542.7mAh g^(-1) at 0.1Ag^(-1),and excellent rate performance with a reversible capacity of 236.4mAh g^(-1) at 2Ag^(-1) after 1200 ***,full cell assembled with NS-CNs as the can present 230mAh g^(-1) at 0.5Ag^(-1) after 150 ***,in/ex situ techniques confirm that the excellent sodium storage properties of NS-CNs are due to the construction of abundant active sites based on the novel synthesis method for realizing the reversible adsorption of Na^(+).This work provides a novel strategy to develop novel carbons and gives deep insights for the further investigation of facile preparation methods to develop high-performance carbon anodes for alkali-ion batteries.

In recent years,biochar has attracted considerable attention for soil quality improvement and carbon sequestration due to its unique physicochemical ***,the mechanism by which biochar application negatively affects the growth of crop seedlings has not been fully *** this study,a hydroponic experiment was conducted to evaluate the response of rice,wheat,and corn seedlings to biochar application(CK,0 g/L;BC1,0.5 g/L;and BC2,1.0 g/L).Compared with the CK treatment,the BC1 and BC2 treatments decreased the fresh shoot and root weights of rice and corn seedlings(Plings(P>0.05).For the contents of nutrient elements in seedlings,both BC1 and BC2 treatments hindered the roots from absorbing Fe and Cu and increased the uptake of Ca and *** with the CK treatment,the translocation factor(TF)values of Ca,Mn,and Zn were significantly decreased especially in rice seedlings(35.3%-36.8%,68.7%-76.5%,and 29.8%-22.0%,respectively)under the BC1 and BC2 treatments,while only Mn was significantly decreased in wheat and corn seedlings(Plication can reduce nutrient absorption and translocation,and hinder rice,wheat,and corn seedlings,particularly rice seedling,in hydroponic system.

Eutrophication in coastal waters has been increasing remarkably,severely impacting the water quality in mariculture *** this study,we conducted multiple isotopic measurements on suspended particulate nitrogen(δ^(15)N-PN) and dissolved nitrate(δ^(15)N-NO_(3)^(-)and δ^(18)O-NO_(3)^(-)) in Zhanjiang Bay,a typical mariculture bay with a high level of eutrophication in South china,to investigate the changes in nitrogen sources and their cycling between the rainy and dry *** the rainy season,the study found no significant relation between δ^(15)NPN and δ^(15)N-NO_(3)^(-)due to the impact of heavy rainfall and terrestrial *** the upper bay,a slight nitrate loss and slightly higher δ_(15)N-NO_(3)^(-)and δ^(18)O-NO_(3)^(-)values were observed,attributed to intense physical sedimentwater *** some fluctuations,nitrate concentrations in the lower bay mainly aligned with the theoretical mixing line during the rainy season,suggesting that nitrate was primarily influenced by terrestrial erosion and that nitrate isotopes resembled the ***,the isotopic values of nitrate can be used for source apportionment in the rainy *** results indicated that soil nitrogen(36%) and manure and sewage(33%) were the predominant nitrogen sources contributing to nitrogen loads during this *** contrast,the dry season saw a deficient ammonium concentration(ling of assimilation and mineralization during the dry *** active biogeochemical processes during the dry season may be related to decreased runoff and increased water retention ***,our study illustrated the major seasonal nitrogen sources and their dynamics in Zhanjiang B ay,providing valuable insights for formulati

Symmetrical solid oxide cells （SSOCs） are very useful for energy generation and conversion. To fabricate the electrode of SSOC, it is very time-consuming to use the conventional approach. In this work, we design and develop a novel method, extreme heat treatment （EHT）, to rapidly fabricate electrodes for SSOC. We show that by using the EHT method, the electrode can be fabricated in seconds （the fastest method to date）, benefiting from enhanced reaction kinetics. The EHT-fabricated electrode presents a porous structure and good adhesion with the electrolyte. In contrast, tens of hours are needed to prepare the electrode by the conventional approach, and the prepared electrode exhibits a dense structure with a larger particle size due to the lengthy treatment. The EHT-fabricated electrode shows desirable electrochemical performance. Moreover, we show that the electrocatalytic activity of the perovskite electrode can be tuned by the vigorous approach of fast exsolution,deriving from the increased active sites for enhancing the electrochemical reactions. At 900℃, a promising peak power density of 966mWcm-2is reached. Our work exploits a new territory to fabricate and develop advanced electrodes for SSOCs in a rapid and high-throughput manner.

Cultural relics have their unique artistic, cultural and historical value, and the protection of important cultural relics is conducive to the inheritance of historical culture. As a kind of cementing agent and binder commonly seen in cultural relics protection, epoxy resin is widely used in the bonding and consolidation of various materials in cultural relics, which has important practical application value. In this review, a systematic classification of commonly used epoxy resins, including their molecular structures, synthesis reactions and properties are provided, the problems and solutions of epoxy resin in cultural relics protection are summarized. The solutions are classified into three aspects: functional epoxy resin, blending modification, and other modification. Representative application examples of epoxy resin are listed in the field of cultural relics protection, and the development direction of epoxy resin in cultural relics protection in the future is proposed, which provides useful guidance for the modification of epoxy resin and its application in cultural relics protection in the future.
