Backg.ound:Acute improvement in rang. of motion(ROM)is.a widely reported effect of s.retching.and foam rolling.which is.commonly explained by chang.s.in pain thres.old and/or mus.ulotendinous.***,thes. effects.were als. reported in res.ons. to various.other active and pas.ive interventions.that induce res.ons.s.s.ch as.enhanced mus.le ***,we hypothes.zed that acute ROM enhancements.could be induced by a wide variety of interventions.other than s.retching.or foam rolling.that promote an increas. in mus.le ***:After a s.s.ematic s.arch in PubMed,Web of s.ience,and s.ORTDis.us.databas.s.38 s.udies.comparing.the effects.of s.retching.and foam rolling.with s.veral other interventions.on ROM and pas.ive properties.were *** s.udies.had 1134 participants.in total,and the data analys.s.res.lted in 140 effect s.zes.Es.).Es.calculations.were performed us.ng.robus. variance es.imation model with ***:s.udy quality of the included s.udies.was.clas.ified as.fair(PEDro s.ore=4.58)with low to moderate certainty of *** s.owed no s.g.ificant differences.in ROM(Es.0.01,p=0.88),s.iffnes.(Es.0.09,p=0.67),or pas.ive peak torque(Es.-0.30,p=0.14)between s.retching.or foam rolling.and the other identified *** plots.revealed no publication ***:Bas.d on current literature,our res.lts.challeng. the es.ablis.ed view on s.retching.and foam rolling.as.a recommended component of warm-up *** lack of s.g.ificant difference between interventions.s.g.es.s.there is.no need to emphas.ze s.retching.or foam rolling.to induce acute ROM,pas.ive peak torque increas.s.or s.iffnes. reductions.
