Characterization of the interaction of nanobubble ultrasound contrast agents with human blood components

Nanoscale ultrasound contrast agents,or nanobubbles,are being explored in preclinical applications ranging from vascular and cardiac imaging to targeted drug delivery in *** sub-micron particles are approximately 10x smaller than clinically available *** allows them to effectively traverse compromised physiological barriers and circulate for extended periods of *** various aspects of nanobubble behavior have been previously examined,their behavior in human whole blood has not yet been ***,herein we examined,for the first time,the short and long-term effects of blood components on nanobubble acoustic *** observed differences in the kinetics of backscatter from nanobubble suspensions in whole blood compared to bubbles in phosphate buffered saline(PBS),plasma,or red blood cell solutions(RBCs).Specifically,after introducing nanobubbles to fresh human whole blood,signal enhancement,or the magnitude of nonlinear ultrasound signal,gradually increased by 22.8±13.1%throughout our experiment,with peak intensity reached within 145 *** contrast,nanobubbles in PBS had a stable signal with negligible change in intensity(􀀀1.7±3.2%)over 8 *** the same conditions,microbubbles made with the same lipid formulation showed a􀀀56.8±6.1%decrease in enhancement in whole *** confocal,fluorescent,and scanning electron microscopy analysis revealed attachment of the nanobubbles to the surface of RBCs,suggesting that direct interactions,or hitchhiking,of nanobubbles on RBCs in the presence of plasma may be a possible mechanism for the observed *** phenomenon could be key to extending nanobubble circulation time and has broad implications in drug delivery,where RBC interaction with nanoparticles could be exploited to improve delivery efficiency.

A Review: Embedding a Simulation Training Program in Labor and Delivery to Improve Healthcare Quality, Clinical Outcomes, and Patient Satisfaction

In response to maternal deaths being three-fold higher for black women than other races in New York City, Governor Andrew m. Cuomo created a taskforce which met for a year. In march 2019, the taskforce published ten recommendations to address the current healthcare disparities. The taskforce recommended utilizing medical simulation training to improve skills and communication. Peer-reviewed literature was explored for evidentiary support for embedding a simulation program in a NYC public hospital. In addition, obstacles to and advantages of in-situ simulation programs were discussed. Steps for garnering executive leadership support, improving teamwork, defining outcome measures, and identifying beneficiaries of in-situ simulation programs were explored.

Hyperhidrosis of Central Hypogonadism Leading to Diagnosis of Shapiro Syndrome: Temperature Dysregulation, Hypothermia and Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum

Background: Central or hypothalamic hypogonadism as an initial manifestation of Shapiro Syndrome has not been described in the literature. Herein, we report first case in which initial presentation of central hypogonadism led to a confirmed diagnosis of Shapiro Syndrome during a casual evaluation of hypothalamic pituitary anatomy with mRI of brain. Case presentation: 53 year old Caucasian man was documented to manifest Central or hypogonadotropic hypogonadism following evaluation of excessive sweating episodes, lack of libido and erectile dysfunction for a duration of several years. Brain mRI performed for assessment of the etiology documented no pituitary abnormality. Instead agenesis of Corpus Callosum was noted. The subject had been hospitalized on many occasions at this and several other medical centers with hypothermia or hyperthermia without a documentation of a definite cause. Therefore, the diagnosis of Shapiro Syndrome was made. Conclusion: This report is the first documentation of subject manifesting central, more likely to be hypothalamic rather than hypogonadotropic hypogonadism in conjunction with Shapiro Syndrome.

Hybrid Algorithm to Evaluate E-Business Website Comments

Online reviews are considered of an important indicator for users to decide on the activity they wish to do, whether it is watching a movie, going to a restaurant, or buying a product. It also serves businesses as it keeps tracking user feedback. The sheer volume of online reviews makes it difficult for a human to process and extract all significant information to make purchasing choices. As a result, there has been a trend toward systems that can automatically summarize opinions from a set of reviews. In this paper, we present a hybrid algorithm that combines an auto-summarization algorithm with a sentiment analysis (SA) algorithm, to offer a personalized user experiences and to solve the semantic-pragmatic gap. The algorithm consists of six steps that start with the original text document and generate a summary of that text by choosing the N most relevant sentences in the text. The tagged texts are then processed and then passed to a Naive Bayesian classifier along with their tags as training data. The raw data used in this paper belong to the tagged corpus positive and negative processed movie reviews introduced in [1]. The measures that are used to gauge the performance of the SA and classification algorithm for all test cases consist of accuracy, recall, and precision. We describe in details both the aspect of extraction and sentiment detection modules of our system.

Porescript:Semi-automated pore size algorithm for scaffold characterization

The scaffold pore size influences many critical physical aspects of tissue engineering,including tissue infiltration,biodegradation rate,and mechanical *** measurements of pore sizes from scanning electron micrographs using ImageJ/FIJI are commonly used to characterize scaffolds,but these methods are both time-consuming and subject to user *** semi-automated analysis tools are limited by a lack of accessibility or limited sample size in their verification *** work here describes the development of a new mATLAB algorithm,Porescript,to address these *** algorithm was verified using three common scaffold fabrication methods(e.g.,salt leaching,gas foaming,emulsion templating)with varying pore sizes and shapes to demonstrate the versatility of this new *** results demonstrate that the pore size characterization using Porescript is comparable to manual pore size *** Porescript algorithm was further evaluated to determine the effect of user-input and image parameters(relative image magnification,pixel intensity threshold,and pore structure).Overall,this work validates the accuracy of the Porescript algorithm across several fabrication methods and provides user-guidance for semi-automated image analysis and increased throughput of scaffold characterization.

The possibility of determining of chromium (III, VI) ions was investigated in this paper. It is shown that the electrode on а basis of heаzlewoodite has high selectivity to chromium (III) ions. Also the stability constants of complexes, forming in system “Cr3+-mohr’s salt-Ca(OH)2-PVA ÷ PAA” were determined by potentiometric titration with ion-selective electrode.

We report that oxygen vacancies have a profound impact on phase separation and thermoelectric properties of ITO films grown at room *** vacancies in non-stoichiometric In1.8Sn0.2O2.5 films aided the formation of In-rich metallic *** yields a high electrical conductivity s=1540 scm1 and Seebeck coefficient|a|=27.2 mVK1,which resulted in the highest power factor(a2 s=113.8 mW m1 K2)but low optical transmission(Top-25%).An increase in oxygen partial pressure resulted in stochiometric In1.8Sn0.2O3 films which improved the optical transparency by 300%(Top-75.4%),but power factor was reduced by-85%due to a decrease in a and s.A decrease in a was due to the lack of energy filtering of charge carriers in the stoichiometric ITO film which did not have In-rich metallic *** results showed that the valence band energy shifts with a change in oxygen partial pressure due to a decrease in carrier density,which implied a change in Fermi energy due to the reverse moss-Burstein *** results showed that phase separation can be obtained in nanocomposite ITO films by tuning their stoichiometry simply by varying the oxygen partial pressure during deposition of thermoelectric materials at low temperatures.

Outcomes following liver transplantation in intensive care unit patients
