Fatigue and Corrosion Fatigue Properties of Mg-Zn-Zr-Nd Alloys in Glucose-Containing Simulated Body Fluids

Medical bone implant magnesium(Mg)alloys are subjected to both corrosive environments and complex loads in the human *** increasing number of hyperglycemic and diabetic patients in recent years has brought new challenges to the fatigue performance of Mg ***,it is significant to study the corrosion fatigue(CF)behavior of medical Mg alloys in glucose-containing simulated body fluids for their clinical ***,the corrosion and fatigue properties of extruded Mg-Zn-Zr-Nd alloy in Hank’s balanced salt solution(HBSS)containing different concentrations(1 g/l and 3 g/l)of glucose were *** average grain size of the alloy is about 5μm,which provides excellent overall mechanical *** conditional fatigue strength of the alloy was 127 MPa in air and 88 MPa and 70 MPa in HBSS containing 1 g/l glucose and 3 g/l glucose,*** crack initiation points for alloys in air are oxide inclusions and in solution are corrosion *** corrosion rate of the alloy is high at the beginning,and decreases as the surface corrosion product layer thickens with the increase of immersion *** corrosion products of the alloy are mainly Mg(OH)_(2),MgO and a small amount of Ca-P *** electrochemical results indicated that the corrosion rate of the alloys gradually decreased with increasing immersion time,but the corrosion tendency of the alloy was greater in HBSS containing 3 g/l *** the one hand,glucose accelerates the corrosion process by adsorbing large amounts of aggressive Cl^(-)*** the other hand,glucose will be oxidized to form gluconic acid,and then reacts with Mg(OH)_(2) and MgO to form Mg gluconate,which destroys the corrosion product film and leads to the aggravation of corrosion and the accumulation of fatigue damage.

A statistical approach to enhance the productivity of Streptomyces baarensis MH-133 for bioactive compounds

The goal of this study was to use statistical optimization to change the nutritional and environmental conditions so that Streptomyces baarensis MH-133 could make more active *** trials were used to screen for critical variables influencing productivity using the Placket-Burman Design *** MH-133 is significantly influenced by elicitation,yeast extract,inoculum size,and incubation period in terms of antibacterial activity.A total of 27 experimental trials with various combinations of these factors were used to carry out the response surface technique using the Box-Behnken *** analyses revealed that the model was highly significant(plack-of-fit of 0.212 and a coefficient determination(R2)of ***,the model predicted that the response as inhibition zone diameter would reach a value of 27 *** optimal conditions,*** MH-133 produced 18.0 g of crude extract to each 35l and was purified with column *** active fraction exhibiting antibacterial activity was characterized using spectroscopic *** MIC and MBC values varied between 37.5 and 300μg/ml and 75 and 300μg/ml,*** conclusion,the biostatistical optimization of the active fraction critical variables,including environmental and nutritional conditions,enhances the production of bioactive molecules by Streptomyces species.

Combinations of metal and lanthanide oxides have been done through casted films for potential medical applications. In this regard, samarium(Ⅲ) oxide/chromium(Ⅲ) oxide/graphene oxide(GO)/polycaprolactone(PCl) based films nano-composites(NCs) were fabricated, pointing their utilization as a biological scaffold for wound dressing purposes. Also, samarium(Ⅲ) oxide and chromium(Ⅲ) oxide have been merged as promising optical constituents due to their unique optical behavior. The structural and compositional examination of the studied NCs was executed by X-ray diffraction(XRD), Raman, and field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM). The Sm_(2)O_(3)/Cr_(2)O_(3)/GO/PCl NC exhibits a surface with a lower roughness degree owing to the presence of GO. Cr_(2)O_(3)shows size reduction upon GO insertion to reach 1.2 μm as the average grain size, whilst Sm_(2)O_(3)records an average grain size of less than 1 μm. As well, the polymeric nano-compositions exhibit variation in contact angle values that hit 29.76°± 3.52°for Sm_(2)O_(3)/PCl, and 48.62°± 1.37°for Sm_(2)O_(3)/Cr_(2)O_(3)/GO/PCl as the second lowest contact angle. The optical behavior contributes to absorption edge relocation along the x-axis from 1.7 eV for pure PCl, to 2.65 eV for Sm_(2)O_(3)/Cr_(2)O_(3)/GO/PCl. Regarding biological responses, the cell exposed to 2.5 μg/m l of Sm_(2)O_(3)/Cr_(2)O_(3)/GO/PCl shows cell viability of 119.31%, while 5 μg/m l hits 99.6%. Additionally, the resulting cell attachment micrographs show layers of fibroblast tissue, besides the proliferation and growth of cultivated cells. Thus, the Sm_(2)O_(3)/Cr_(2)O_(3)/GO/PCl scaffold provides 3D proliferation of fibroblast cells endorsing the wound healing process.

A 43-year-old Tibetan female was brought to the department of general surgery with abdominal *** tomography(CT)scan revealed cystic hepatic echinococcosis in the right liver(Figure 1A).Further magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography showed that there were cyst-biliary communications at right posterior bile duct,and several hydatid cysts inside common bile duct(Figure 1B,yellow arrow head showed rupture,white arrow heads showed bile duct hydatid cysts).low confluence of right posterior bile duct to the common hepatic duct suggests biliary *** serum total bilirubin was normal,serum alkaline phosphatase and gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase were elevated mildly with the value of 278 and 107 U/l *** underwent right hemihepatectomy plus choledochoscopic hydatid cysts extraction through right posterior hepatic duct stump(Figure 1C,yellow arrow head showed right posterior bile duct stump,white arrow heads showed bile duct hydatid cysts).To prevent the spread of echinococcosis,we covered the surgical area with hypertonic saline gauze.A large number of hydatid cysts presented inside hepatectomy specimen that mixed with a lot of bile(Figure 1D).Hydatid cyst inside bile duct was removed completely,and postoperative recovery was *** removed all the liver cysts,and no signs of any lesion residue in post-operative image.

A series of emission reduction measures were conducted in Wuhan,Central China,to ensure good air quality during the 7th Military World Games(MWG)in October *** better understand the implications for ozone(O_(3))pollution control strategies,we applied integrated analysis approaches based on the de-weathered statistical model,parameterization methods,chemical box model,and positive matrix factorization *** the MWG,concentrations of O_(3),NO_x,and volatile organic compound(VOCs),OFP(O_(3)formation potential),l_(OH)(OH radical loss rate)were 83μg/m^(3),43μg/m^(3),26 ppbv,188μg/m^(3),and 3.9 s^(-1),respectively,which were 26%,18%,3%,15%,and 13%lower than pre-MWG values and 6%,39%,30%,33%,and 50%lower than post-MWG values,*** removing meteorological influence,O_(3)and its precursors during the MWG decreased largely compared with post-MWG values,and only O_(3),NO_(2),and oxygenated VOCs(OVOCs)declined compared with pre-MWG values,which revealed the emission reduction measures during the MWG played an important role for O_(3)*** six VOCs sources,the mass contributions of biomass burning and solvents usage during the MWG decreased largely compared with pre-MWG values.O_(3)production was sensitive to VOCs and the key species were aromatics,OVOCs,and alkenes,which originated mainly from solvents usage,biomass burning,industrial-related combustion,and vehicle *** O_(3)concentration during the strict control was mainly caused by OVOCs reduction due to biomass burning ***,the O_(3)abatement strategies of Wuhan should be focused on the mitigation of high-reactivity VOCs.

The Zeit sand reservoir is one of the most prolific formations at Northwestern side of the Gulf of *** this research we will try to coordinate between electrical,petrophysical properties,depositional environment and facies discrimination in order to evaluate the hydrocarbon potentiality of studied Zeit *** statistical parameters for potassium(K),thorium(Th)and Th/U ratio contents have a general increase towards northwestern parts,whereas uranium(U)content has a general increase towards southeastern *** sandstone facies is distinguished from the other facies by its thorium content>4 ppm.U has high carbonate content(U≥1 ppm).Rocks'electrical properties vary greatly depending on a number of *** measurements were taken at frequencies range of(5×10^(-4)Hz-100 kHz)for fully saturated samples(clayey sandstone)with NaCl(20 gm/l).As salinity,clay content,and frequency increase,consequently does the electrical *** continental condition are present in northwestern part(back-sea)which is distinguished by high K percent,high Th,high Th/U ratio,and low U *** K,Th,and Th/U ratio contents,with high U contents,characterize the marine depositional environment that existed around the east and southeastern parts(foresea coincide with the dipping of strata).Furthermore,the studied Zeit Formation has good petrophysical properties that coincide with marine *** middle and eastern parts(around ISS-94 and CSS-288)is a good reservoir(porosity 36%-39%,shale content<15%,hydrocarbon saturation 71%-92%,and net pay thickness 17-63 feet).
