A simple technique for suprachoroidal space injection of triamcinolone acetonide in treatment of macular edema

AIM:To introduce a simple resistance controlled suprachoroidal space(SCS)injection technique using a disposable 30-gauge needle connected to a 1 m L syringe and evaluate the effectiveness and applicability of this technique in the treatment of macular ***:A total of 20 patients with various types of macular edema were subjected to a resistance controlled SCS injection of triamcinolone acetonide(TA)with a disposable 30-gauge needle connected to a 1 m L *** technique allows the easy and smooth injection of the TA only once the tip of the needle reached the potential SCS which was indicated by the lower resistance on the *** main outcome measures were anterior segment spectral-domain optical coherence tomography(AS-OCT)measurements post-operation immediately and central subfield thickness(CST),best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA),and intraocular pressure(IOP)measurements at 3mo ***:AS-OCT examination showed the expansion of the SCS near the injection site immediately after SCS *** three months of follow-up,as compared to the baseline,the mean CST was significantly decreased from 535.0±157.24 to 319.55±127.30μm(P<0.001),the mean BCVA was significantly improved from 1.05±0.41 to 0.73±0.41 log MAR(P<0.001),and the mean IOP was not significantly different,from 15.05±2.54 to 15.85±3.60 mm Hg(P=0.185).Any complication related to the injection procedure including cataract,choroidal and retinal hemorrhage,retinal detachment,or endophthalmitis was not observed in this ***:The simple and minimally invasive technique of SCS injection of TA with a disposable 30-gauge needle connected to a 1 m L syringe is useful and applicable for macular edema.

The adsorption isotherms of mixtures of linear alkanes, involving n-pentane, n-hexane, and n-heptane in pillared layered materials (PLMs) with three different porosities Ψ=0.98, 0.94 and 0.87, and three pore widths H=1.02, 1.70 and 2.38 nm at temperature T=300 K were simulated by using configurational-bias Monte Carlo (CBMC) techniques in grand canonical ensemble.A grid model was employed to calculate the interaction between a fluid molecule and two layered boards here. For alkane mixtures,the n-heptane, the longest chain component in alkane mixtures, is preferentially adsorbed at low pressures, with its adsorption increasing and then decreasing as the pressure increases continuously while the n-pentane, the shortest chain component in alkane mixtures, is still adsorbed at high pressures; the adsorption of the longest chain component of alkane mixtures increases as the pore width and the porosity of PLMs increase.

With the increasing power density and integration of electronic devices,polymeric composites with high thermal conductivity(TC)are in urgent demand for solving heat accumulation ***,the direct introduction of inorganic fillers into a polymer matrix at low filler content usually leads to low TC *** this work,an interconnected three-dimensional(3D)polysulfone/hexagonal boron nitride-carbon nanofiber(PSF/BN-CNF)skeleton was prepared via the salt templated method to address this *** embedding into the epoxy(EP),the EP/PSF/BN-CNF composite presents a high TC of 2.18 W m^(−1) K^(−1) at a low filler loading of 28.61 wt%,corresponding to a TC enhancement of 990%compared to the neat *** enhanced TC is mainly attributed to the fabricated 3D interconnected structure and the efficient synergistic effect of BN and *** addition,the TC of the epoxy composites can be further increased to 2.85 W m^(−1) K^(−1) at the same filler loading through a post-heat treatment of the PSF/BN-CNF *** carbonization at 1500°C,the adhesive PSF was converted into carbonaceous layers,which could serve as a thermally conductive glue to connect the filler network,further decreasing the interfacial thermal resistance and promoting phonon ***,the good heat dissipation performance of the EP/C/BN-CNF composites was directly confirmed by thermal infrared imaging,indicating a bright and broad application in the thermal management of modern electronics and energy fields.

With the significant progress of the“coal to electricity”project,the electric kiln equipment began to be connected to the distribution network on a large scale,which caused power quality problems such as low voltage,high harmonic distortion rate,and high reactive power *** paper proposes a two-stage power grid comprehensive resource optimization configuration model.A multi-objective optimization solution based on the joint simulation platform of Matlab and OpenDSS is *** solution aims to control harmonics and optimize reactive *** the first stage,a multi-objective optimization model is established to minimize the active network loss,voltage deviation,and equipment cost under the constraint conditions of voltage margin,power factor,and reactive power compensation ***,the first stage uses a particle swarm optimization(PSO)algorithm to optimize the location and capacity of both series and parallel compensation devices in the distribution *** the second stage,the optimal configuration model of the active power filter assumes the cost of the APF as the objective function and takes the harmonic voltage content rate,the total voltage distortion rate,and the allowable harmonic current as the constraint *** proposed solution eliminates the harmonics by uniformly configuring active filters in the distribution network and centrally control harmonics at the system ***,taking the IEEE33 distribution network as the object and considering the change of electric furnace permeability in the range of 20%–50%,the simulation results show that the proposed algorithm effectively reduces the distribution network’s loss,its harmonic content and significantly improve its voltage.

In this work, the membrane surface of poly（acrylonitrile-co-2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate）（PANcheMA） was chemically modified by anchoring of phospholipid moieties. The process involved the reaction of hydroxyl groups on the membrane surface with 2-chloro-2-oxo-1,3,2-dioxaphospholane （COP） followed by the ring-opening reaction of COP with trimethylamine. chemical differences between the original and the modified membranes were characterized by FT-IR and XPS, It was found that the amount of macrophage adhered on the modified membrane surface is substantially lower than that on polyacrylonitrile （PAN） and PANcheMA membranes under the same condition, The morphological change of the adherent cell is also suppressed by the generation ofphospholipid moieties on the membrane surface.

AIM: To evaluate the accuracy, efficiency, and reliability of a handheld infrared eccentric autorefractor(h ICA) with artificial intelligence(AI) by comparing its refraction measurements to those recorded using h ICA and a clinical table-mounted automatic refractor(TAR).METHODS: A cross-sectional study using three optometers, including h ICA with or without AI and TAR, for refractometry of adults(aged 19-49 years old) with no signs of ocular disease or trauma in the absence of cycloplegia. Right and left eye refraction data were recorded, including the spherical equivalent(SE), diopter of spherical power(DS), diopter of cylindrical power(DC) decomposed into vectors J0 and J45, and measurement times. To avoid analytical difficulties associated with the interdependence of observations between eyes from the same individual, the Generalized Estimation Equation was used to compare the SE, DS, J0 and J45 measurements, and the times thereof, among the different groups. The intraclass correlation coef f icient(ICC) and Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient were used to evaluate correlations among the measurements recorded by the three different instruments. Bland-Altman were used to analyze the precision of the equipment by the agreement. RESULTS: A total of 70 patients(140 eyes;mean age: 31.37 y;range: 19-49 y) were assessed using refractometry. In a brightly lit environment, there was no significant difference between the mean SE recorded using TAR and that recorded using h ICA with AI or without AI(both P>0.05). In an intense-light environment, h ICA equipped with AI showed a better detection rate than without AI. Light intensity had a greater effect on dioptric measurements recorded using h ICA without AI(P<0.001) than on those recorded using the one equipped with AI(P<0.05). Measurement times varied significantly between the different light intensities and instruments(P<0.05).CONCLUSION: For the normal human eyes, AI may improve the accuracy, efficiency, and reliabil

With the increasing demand for security,building strong barrier coverage in directional sensor networks is important for effectively detecting un-authorized *** this paper,we propose an efficient scheme to form the strong barrier coverage by adding the mobile nodes one by one into the *** first present the concept of target circle which determines the appropriate residence region and working direction of any candidate node to be *** we select the optimal relay sensor to be added into the current barrier based on its input-output ratio(barrier weight)which reflects the extension of barrier *** strategy looses the demand of minimal required sensor nodes(maximal gain of each sensor)or maximal lifetime of one single barrier,leading to an augmentation of sensors to be *** simulation results show that,compared with the available schemes,the proposed method significantly reduces the minimal deploy density required to establish k-barrier,and increases the total service lifetime with a high deploy efficiency.
