Vertical graphene nanosheetsmodiBed Al current collectors for high-performance sodium-ion batteries

Rechargeable sodium-ion batteries(SIBs)are promising candidates for large-scale energy storage owing to their excellent high-power ***,Al-based current collectorsat both anodes and cathodes of SIBs,which widely influence the power properties of a variety of electrodes in SIBs,have rarely been ***,we demonstrate that vertical graphene nanosheets grown on commercial Al foil by the plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition(PECVD)method,form a robust connection with the carbon-based conductive network of the electrode,thereby significantly reducing the electrode current collector interfacial *** sodium vanadium phosphate(NVP)anodes with vertical graphenenanosheetmodified Al foil(G-AI)current collectors,the interfacial resistance between the electrode and current collector is reduced 20-fold compared with that in the case of Al *** G-AI current collector reduces the polarization and improves the rate capability compared with that of Al current collectors within both cathodes and anodes of *** a high rate of 5 C,the capacity retention of NVP cathode with G-AI current collector is 74%,which is much higher than that with AI foil(22%).We believe that the obtained results support the prospect for the widespread use of G-AI current collectors in the further improvement of high-power profiles of SIBs.

Breakthroughs in energy storage and conversion devices depend heavily on the exploration of low-cost and high-performance ***-supported electrocatalysts with dimensional varieties have recently attracted significant attention due to their strong structural flexibility and easy ***,understanding the connection between their electronic,structural properties,and catalytic performance must remain a top *** radiation(SR)X-ray absorption spectroscopy(XAS)techniques,including hard XAS and soft XAS,are recognized as efficient and comprehensive platforms for probing the surface,interface,and bulk electronic structure of elements of interest in the materials *** the past decade,the flourishing development of materials science and advanced characterization technologies have led to a deeper understanding at different temporal,longitudinal,and spatial *** this review,we briefly describe the concept of XAS techniques and summarize their recent progress in addressing scientific questions on carbon-supported electrocatalysts through the development of advanced instruments and experimental *** then discuss the remaining challenges and potential research directions in nextgeneration materials frontiers,and suggest challenges and perspectives for shedding light on the structure–activity relationship.

A novel context-aware RPL algorithm based on a triangle module operator

For the use in low-power and lossy networks(LLNs)under complex and harsh communication conditions,the routing protocol for LLNs(RPL)standardized by the Internet Engineering Task Force is specially *** improve the performance of LLNs,we propose a novel context-aware RPL algorithm based on a triangle module operator(CAR-TMO).A novel composite context-aware routing metric(CA-RM)is designed,which synchronously evaluates the residual energy index,buffer occupancy ratio of a node,expected transmission count(ETX),delay,and hop count from a candidate parent to the ***-RM considers the residual energy index and buffer occupancy ratio of the candidate parent and its preferred parent in a recursive manner to reduce the effect of upstream parents,since farther paths are ***-RM comprehensively uses the sum,mean,and standard deviation values of ETX and delay of links in a path to ensure a better ***,in CAR-TMO,the membership function of each routing metric is ***,a comprehensive membership function is constructed based on a triangle module operator,the membership function of each routing metric,and a comprehensive context-aware objective function.A novel mechanism for calculating the node rank and the mechanisms for preferred parent selection are ***,theoretical analysis and simulation results show that CAR-TMO outperforms several state-of-the-art RPL algorithms in terms of the packet delivery ratio and energy efficiency.

New insights into the microstructural stability based on the element segregation behavior atγ/γ′interface in Ni-based single crystal superalloys with Ru addition

A new insight into the microstructural stability was proposed in Ni-based single crystal superalloys with Ru addition,and the element segregation behavior atγ/γ′interface was investigated by three-dimensional atom probe technology(3D-APT).After standard heat treatment,it was found that Ru addition barely altered the element partitioning coefficient betweenγmatrix andγ′phase,and no element-segregation layer was observed atγ/γ′*** the heat exposure at 1100°C,Ru addition obviously promoted the rafting of theγ′precipitates and inhibited the precipitation of topological close-packed(TCP)*** was more important that an element-segregation layer containing Re,Co,and Cr was formed in theγmatrix close to theγ/γ′interface due to an“uphill diffusion”effect,and its concentration was obviously reduced after Ru ***,the microstructural stability based on the element segregation behavior atγ/γ′interface was *** element-segregation layer increased theγ/γ′interfacial energy by increasing the absolute value of the lattice misfit ofγ/γ′interface to promote the rafting of theγ′precipitates after Ru *** the other hand,the decrease of the segregation concentration of Re,Co,and Cr elements as TCP phase-forming elements near theγ/γ′interface due to a“reverse partitioning”effect inhibits the precipitation of TCP phases in Ni-based single crystal superalloys after Ru addition.

A highly reliable encoding and decoding communication framework based on semantic information

Increasing research has focused on semantic communication,the goal of which is to convey accurately the meaning instead of transmitting symbols from the sender to the *** this paper,we design a novel encoding and decoding semantic communication framework,which adopts the semantic information and the contextual correlations between items to optimize the performance of a communication system over various *** the sender side,the average semantic loss caused by the wrong detection is defined,and a semantic source encoding strategy is developed to minimize the average semantic *** further improve communication reliability,a decoding strategy that utilizes the semantic and the context information to recover messages is proposed in the *** simulation results validate the superior performance of our strategies over state-of-the-art semantic coding and decoding policies on different communication channels.

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the antioxidant property and potential ameliorating effective ingredients for high altitude-induced fatigue from Gansu Maxianhao(Pedicularis Kansuensis Maxim.).METHODS:Macroporous adsorptive resin combined with polyamide chromatographic column was used to obtain water extract(P1),high polar part(P2),iridoid glycosides part(P3)and phenylethanoid glycosides part(P4)of Gansu Maxianhao(Pedicularis Kansuensis Maxim.).Antioxidant activity of each part was investigated employing a series of in vitro ***-eosin staining,analysis of blood biochemical parameters,along with molecular analyses examining oxidative stress makers,metabolite,metabolic enzyme and energy substance in liver,skeletal muscle and/or serum were further ***:The results showed phenylethanoid glycosides(Ph Gs)exhibited more effective with 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl radical scavenging ability,2-2-Azinbis(3-ehtylbenzothiazolin-6-sulfnic Acid)Diammonium Salt+scavenging activity,hydroxyl radical scavenging activity,reducing ability and antioxidant activity to varying *** a hypobaric hypoxia attack in a hypobaric chamber(8000 m,7 consecutive days),Ph Gs was administered to BALB/C mice at doses of 50,200,400 mg/kg and antifatigue property was evaluated using a swimming test at an altitude of 4000 *** results showed that Ph Gs of Gansu Maxianhao(Pedicularis Kansuensis Maxim.)could significantly prolong the burden swimming time of mice,reduce the hypoxia-induced oxidative stress,remove the accumulated products of metabolism,improve the energy metabolism as well as improve preservation of endogenous glycogen ***:The ameliorating effect against altitude-induced fatigue of Ph Gs from Gansu Maxianhao(Pedicularis Kansuensis Maxim.)might come from the alleviation of oxidative stress,reduction of the adverse metabolic products,normalizing energy metabolism and increasing energy substances *** Gs is a potential antioxidant and novel rem

Reversible doping polarity and ultrahigh carrier density in two-dimensional van der Waals ferroelectric heterostructures

Van der Waals semiconductor heterostructures(VSHs)composed of two or more two-dimensional(2D)materials with different band gaps exhibit huge potential for exploiting high-performance multifunctional *** application of 2D VSHs in atomically thin devices highly depends on the control of their carrier type and ***,on the basis of comprehensive first-principles calculations,we report a new strategy to manipulate the doping polarity and carrier density in a class of 2D VSHs consisting of atomically thin transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDs)andα-In_(2)X_(3)(X=S,Se)ferroelectrics via switchable polarization *** calculated results indicate that the band bending of In_(2)X_(3)layer driven by the FE polarization can be utilized for engineering the band alignment and doping polarity of TMD/In_(2)X_(3)VSHs,which enables us to control their carrier density and type of the VSHs by the orientation and magnitude of local FE polarization *** by these findings,we demonstrate that doping-free p–n junctions achieved in MoTe2/In2Se3 VSHs exhibit high carrier density(1013–1014 cm–2),and the inversion of the VHSs from n–p junctions to p–i–n junctions has been realized by the polarization switching from upward to downward *** work provides a nonvolatile and nondestructive doping strategy for obtaining programmable p–n van der Waals(vdW)junctions and opens the possibilities for self-powered and multifunctional device applications.

Assessing the impact of non-governmental organization’s extension programs on sustainable cocoa production and household income in Ghana

Globally,cocoa is famous for the production of chocolates and ***,it also serves as a source of raw material for the manufacturing of high-quality cosmetic and pharmaceutical products. Due to its high demand,cocoa is regarded as a major commodity for poverty alleviation in deprived cocoa farming communities. Government has therefore instigated relevant measures to address issues facing the sector by investing in extension programs. These programs act as information dissemination tools for teaching modern farming technologies and enhancing learning among farmers. This study highlighted the effects of the Cocoa Life Project (CLP) by Cooperative for Assistance and Relief Everywhere (CARE) International on farm productivity and income of 200 cocoa farmers in three districts of the Eastern Region,Ghana. Regression on covariates,Heckman’s treatment effects model,and propensity scores were used to test the robustness of the estimates. A positive association between extension program participation,farm productivity,and household income was discovered. Specifically,after correcting for selection bias,the estimated results of the Heckman’s model showed that the extension program significantly increased participating farmers’ cocoa yield by 14.3%. The effects on total farm income showed a significant increase of 25.1 and 42.9%,respectively from regression on propensity scores and the Heckman’s model. Across all three models,program participation led to an increase in total household income by 46.1,31.7,and 69.3%,respectively. Other variables such as farming characteristics,institutional and demographic factors affected farmers’ income,depending on the estimation method used. This study reiterated the supporting role played by extension programs in enhancing cocoa production and increasing household income in Ghana. The development of active water oxidation catalysts for water splitting has stimulated considerable ***,the design and building of single atom Co sites using a supramolecular tailoring strategy are reported,that is,the introduction of pillar[4]arene[1]quinone(P4A1Q)permits mononuclear Co species stereoelectronically assembled on MoS_(2)matrix to construct an atomically dispersed MoS_(2)@Co catalyst with modulated local electronic structure,definite chemical environment and enhanced oxygen evolution reaction *** calculations indicate that immsobilized single-Co sites exhibit an optimized adsorption capability of oxygen-containing intermediates,endowing the catalyst an excellent electrocatalytic oxygen evolution reaction activity,with a low overpotential of 370 mV at 10 mA cm^(-2)and a small Tafel slope of 90 mV dec^(-1).The extendable potential of this strategy to other electrocatalysts such as MoS_(2)@Ni and MoS_(2)@Zn,and other applications such as the hydrogen evolution reaction was also *** study affords new insights into the rational design of single metal atom systems with enhanced electrocatalytic performance.
